The following is my humble opinion... I've never, outside of politicians and used car salesmen, seen a more openly corrupt and shameless institution. I spoke with one of the former board of education members (may he rest in peace) about my experiences here, and he was absolutely revolted by what they were doing here and admitted that (in so many words) had he still been working on the board, a lot of people would be hauled out of this campus in handcuffs or immediately terminated. The fact that the current board members seem ignorant, negligent, or indifferent to the plight of the students who attend here really says a lot about the current administration...

I would have given them 5 stars but there customer service is terrible, I signed up for classes well before the pandemic was In full swing. didn't get any email telling my all classes are online now. Wasn't offered reimbursement for the change. Kept on hold for an hour before I finally spoke with someone. Rude customer service.

After reading unanswered reviews below I'm not going here. I've waited for a bus at the bus stop in front of the diner place across the street a few times an usually get asked if I want to buy drugs, an mentally unstable people ask me for money... (shudders)

I've had 1 pleasant customer interaction. If you take my money for services, it's a service industry. Despicable support, terrible automated services. Appalling is how I would describe my interactions so far.

Mesa College has great educators, many with P.H.D. level educations. I love the diversity of the campus, and the staff. Every student is made to feel safe, and valued. This is great school for high school graduates also. J.S.

There are any number of wonders to get an education for life from. Many ways to find a welcoming place to warm the curious heart. However, when you can reach for a universal star and are sprinkled with the gifts of glitter from above, you are certain, this community college is perfect for anyone and everyone focused on a path to succeed.

Terrible service, wait times to see a councillor are over an hour longer than you are told. People's names are put ahead of yours without explanation. It's leads to a very dissatisfied feeling when you are excited to go to school.

One of the worst community schools in the Valley Of The Sun. Just rude teacher! Some teacher don't even speak full English! Class rooms are over crowed to the point of sitting on top of each other (small rooms) They don't care about the students.

If I could have chosen a zero, I would have. I am so completely frustrated and disappointed with the service we have received from MCC. I have been trying to help my nephew enroll for classes and apply for financial aid and I agree one hundred percent with the comments made by previous users. I myself am an alumni of MCC and was excited and thrilled for my nephew to continue his higher education here. However the past several months has been nothing short of the st frustrating process we've ever experienced. He applied for financial aid in February and submitted all of the necessary paperwork and still has not seen a dime. Every time we call in to ask a question or check on the process, it seems like no one know what's going on or is even competent enough to answer our questions. Unfortunately, he was dropped from his fall classes because as of now, they're still requesting more documentation, which was received by FAFSA, but not in their system? ?? No one seems to know what's going and just sends us in circles. MCC apparently has built a poor reputation for themselves of poor customer service and allowing anyone to answer their phones, offering no assistance or help whatsoever when you call in. I almost feel as if they intentionally make this process more difficult and have lost touch with the people behind their names and student ids. So very disappointed.

It's already more than two years I'm taking classes here. I'm very happy with the classes, very nice campus - I love being there, very friendly staff, they always really WANT to help and are getting in all my problems, if any. And sure professors (at list who I met) are real professionals.

Honestly the art department is amazing nothing agaisnt them. Though whenever i have to deal with the enrollment/advisement
center is a nightmare, no one knows what they are doing. They lost my class replacement papers and had to get them resubmitted ALL A WEEK BEFORE I AM SUPPOSED TO GRADUATE! And even the teacher giving me the slip told me they might lose it, also let me know "its the 3rd one this week" like how do you lose papers that important!! I talked to someone one the phone and holy cow... ive never talked to someone so incompetent in my life. An advisor told me i knew my stuff, yeah because you know next to nothing and i have to tell you exactly what i want 3 times before it clicks. So glad to finally never have to deal with them.

I really enjoyed attending MCC. I really enjoyed 90% of my teachers. I attended MCC directly after graduating high school, the best decision had made, for 6 years. I was there full time for a few years and I changed my major 3-4 times. The rest of the time I was there I only attended part time. The reason MCC was the best choice for me was because when I was 18 I didn't know what I wanted to do with my career. This is a great place to figure out what you want to do with your career.

terrible phone system or something, spent literally an hr this morning calling different numbers on the website to get ahold of ANYONE. nope now i have to go in and talk to them AGAIN about the 6th time this week. not a good experience this week (the people are great sometimes but just a terrible time when you can t talk to anyone or you have to talk to a different person and re explain everything just very frustrating!)

Honestly it's a good school, but their English department is a joke. It's sad that so many students have no other option. They teach just as well as any I suppose, but the faculty is so unwilling to work with students. The no override policy they have is absurd. To flatly dismiss any legitimate need for that is nothing more than an abuse of power, someone trying to feel important when they know they have a certain amount of control over a student's life. It is similar to using a conjunction at the beginning of a sentence for emphasis. Sure it can't be the norm, but there are times to use it. The faculty and particularly department chair refuse to even listen to a student.

If you're looking for a college to fulfill your English requirement, make sure that this is your last and only option before you attempt to sign up.

But if you're just going to only take economics, sociology, or yoga, Mesa Community College could be the school for you.

Do not recommend going here. I've been trying to get my financial aid to go through for 3 months now and last week they told me its processing and now this week apparently I don't have any financial aid. Ive been getting the run around for 3 months being told oh now you need this paper and this paper and now you need to sign up for classes in the fall for summer financial aid. Very negative experience. Im moving schools for sure.

Advisors here cost me money, when I wanted to go into music therapy the directed me into psychology and it screwed up my plans. Do not come here unless you know what you want to do. Take general classes if that's what you need if you know what you want go for it, but if your trying to decide I recommend against MCC.

I had a good experience here when I went into collage. The teachers and staff in general were friendly, knew what they were doing and helpful as needed! The best part was the campus itself because man was it big, had all you needed in terms of amenities and was very nice looking! It's pricey but if you keep to the classes and enjoy the area itself, you'll probably enjoy it as much as I did.

Maybe I'm spoiled because I come from New England ...

Maybe I'm spoiled because I come from New England where at colleges we are treated like respectful human beings that are PAYING GOOD MONEY TO GO THERE, but this is the second school in AZ I've dealt with that has been absolutely horrible. Need to call the school? Better put aside at least 3 hours JUST to talk to someone. Need to email someone? Don't expect a response until 3 weeks later -- and their answer doesn't even help. Need help on their website? Well sounds like you're screwed. When you do finally get a hold of anybody, they are of absolute NO help whatsoever, if I haven't mentioned that already. Oh also I've been trying to enroll for classes for 3 months (and I'm not new to college so I know how this works) and I still haven't talked to an advisor, financial aid, anybody. And that is with me pushing to talk to someone every other day. I should also mention that a staff member argued with me for over an hour right at the main counter, to the point where people were staring, until she figured out that I was actually right but then didn't want to swallow her pride and do it my way instead she sent me off to come back another day so she didn't have to deal with me. That was pretty unprofessional and I haven't gone back in almost a month because I don't want to see her there again. Most disorganized, careless school I have ever dealt with. The staff here makes it obvious that they don't care about their students or the fact that many of us pay out of pocket to do this. I wish I could do a review on the actual classes and whatnot, but I cannot, because I keep being pushed off and treated poorly. If they can't make any money off of me right away, they'll just move on to the easier person and take theirs first. I'm still going to try at least one semester before I go elsewhere since I'm knee deep into this anyway and that I already wasted all this time on it, and I think I'm close to the end for real this time, and hopefully my opinion of the school will change for the better once I'm in the system and actually taking classes. I'll update my review once I do that. In short, if you're an impatient person with a short fuse, run away now because you'll blow up over and over again trying to deal with these people. I have never been treated so poorly at a school before. For this experience I had, I should earn a free semester.

All I Remember Is Professionalism. And Coaching/Mentoring At It's Best...Remaining Focused Was Part Of The Intellectual Marketing Structure. A Very Astute Community. This Higher Learning Campus Is One Of The Next Hippest Visits On That 'List'. Very Student Friendly & In My Times, Genuine Teaching. Thanks For The Help On My Adventures.

I cant tell you how the classes are yet but their website it terrible. It says one thing and then you call them and they say oh now thats incorrect. Primary ex It says you can set up an appt with an adviser but when calling they say its all walk it. Change the website. Simple as that.

I always loved MCC, great teachers, nice campus, no issues whatsoever. Until my last semester that is. I got poor academic advisement from an adviser who know nothing of the schools policies and it completely screwed me over. Also because of something called a Maximum Time Frame policy they would not let me get financial aid for my associates degree and a sustainability certificate, part of which I needed to transfer to ASU. They also wouldn't let me use a private education loan to pay for these classes which is completely absurd since I went outside of the school to get the loan and they told me this was a policy unique to MCC. If you have the choice do not go to MCC.

All of these people are talking bad about the "VA department" or Veteran Services as it's really called. The employees jobs are not to hold your hands through the enrollment process. MCC makes the admissions and enrollment process about as self explanatory as possible. Y'all were in the military for god sake, you made it through basic training/boot camp. Hold your own hand through the process. The veteran services office doesn't even have appointments to see an adviser it's all walk in appointments. The veteran's that are whining about not getting their classes submitted to the VA probably never filled out a request for benefits form which can easily be filled out online and submitted via email, or you know, come in to their office and hand jam one like a normal person. Pull out your stress cards everyone, these new military vets are the only bad thing about MCC as a whole.

Seriously so annoyed with this school. They sent my transcripts to the wrong university and never told me, then the second time around they did not even send them and took my money. They are really unorganized. At least the teachers in my experience have been pretty great.

I've been to four different similar school's due to military moves. This is by far the worst educational experience and Veterans department I've ever had to deal with. It's like dealing with the D.M.V. anytime you need something done. They held a refund check for over a year without telling me, it was only discovered after investigating other errors they made. The course's are also structured at a corporate like level and offer very little learning. Seems to be just another number pushing college that cares little about the students, and forces their adjuncts that they pay next to nothing to force feed a curriculum that someone in management made that does not allow the professor the freedom to actually teach.

I ve never had so much difficulty trying to get an education. I m homeless because of you guys absolutely refusing to release my housing funds. This is ridiculous. No one has any answers. I go to the school and speak to 4 representatives and 2 financial advisors and no one wants to take accountability. I m so fed up and thinking of just going to a different. You guys pride yourself of student achievement but hinder your students before they really even get a chance to get started. I m highly disappointed and anyone who reads this should seriously consider going somewhere else. Leaving this review since I ve been talking with MCC for 2 months about releasing my aid and I don t know who else will be able to assist me.

Don't go to this school and waste your money. Honestly this school is horrible and the vet center doesn't know what the heck it's doing. I work weekdays and trying to come in to get anything done is like pulling teeth. When I do get time of to come in during the week, it's always go somewhere else or one more thing. Safe time and money, go somewhere else.

Just wanted to take a simple 1 credit class.
Enrolling was a two month nightmare (and still is), they couldn't verify anything, they wanted to charge me out of state prices and I kept getting dropped. I wasn't allowed to attend the class and they still want me to pay for the class!!
Finally giving up, trying to pay the fine otherwise they're sending my file to "collections" and I can't get a hold of anyone and their payment site is NOT working. Worst experience ever!!!

This is my second semester here at MCC and I have had nothing but good experiences. All the teachers I have had have been absolutely amazing and it is really easy to get involved! The best part is they have small class sizes and the teachers are willing to work with you!!

The school is awesome but I'm in shock after some random student called 911 and reported an emergency situation In the parking lot. They claimed the vehicle I've been parking in the school lot for almost a year now is suddenly suspicious because I have a sun shade in the front window. After a discussion with Mesa Police before class it was determined that no laws were broken and my vehicle dosent look any different than any other vehicle parked in the parking lot. Not sure if it was a dumb prank or what but totally inappropriate on the students part.

Great campus! Sometimes I feel like I get the run around when I'm in and out of Academic Advisement & Financial Aid but other than that this is a great school! MOST teachers & students are very friendly & helpful.

Okay so the biggest issue I have with MCC is their financial aid. I have never dealt with so much ridiculous stipulations and loopholes to make sure it's hard to get any help. Even when you have a pell grant, there's still some form, verification, reason why they have to deny you funds. I have spent more time dealing with financial aid at this school more than I have taking classes and doing assignments. Since moving out of state, the financial aid departments at other schools I'm looking at are floored that I have had to deal with so much nonsense to get school paid for.

Most teachers I have had however were excellent and very good. They deserve 4/5 or 5/5 stars. Campus and library are good as well. Financial aid is just so bad that I can't in good faith give it higher than a 2. Financial aid makes me want to gives this place a 1.

Didn't make it through the door... Tried to enroll told by several people what I need to bring in jumped those hoops just to have a person from the back tell me not good enough... I only did what I was told by the Staff but only criticized that I didnt understand... Yeah I didnt that is why I came in and did what I was told... You have the information I need... On top of that the staff were very hard to talk with but I always say if you dont like your job quit. Just a transfer student trying to spend money at this community college but plenty more in this valley...

Affordable school, but their online classes are not online. They require you to go to the campus to turn in tests/homework, and to take the final exam. Going to campus is not online. If you work full time or live in another state and are looking for online classes, don t use MCC.

If I could rate this educational institution lower [if that's what you would call it] I definitely would. Teachers don't care, lack of communication, horrible admin and crappy student support. I highly recommend CGCC, SCC and Rio Salado.

I was expecting a great experience at Mesa Community College, but for the past two semesters it has been the worst time of my life. The teachers are all wonderful but the VA Office and Administration Teams are the most unreliable people ever. They are supposed to be there to help you and get things done the right way and on time. The past two semesters I have talked to the dean twice and she has been helpful, but never calls back when she says she will. I feel as though the past two semesters I have had to do all the work in setting up all of my classes and getting enrolled. I have been doing all of their jobs for them. This semester they "forgot" to enroll me through the VA Office so I will not have the money for my books before school begins. They are very irresponsible and because of this it will be my last semester at Mesa Community College. I would not recommend this college to anyone.

a great way to get your education I have had great teachers for the most part but there are some who seem to have stopped caring use rate my professor. Not everything is going to be handed to you here you have to study and put forth an effort

Huge campus and a even bigger library! I took COM225 over the summer and the teacher was very professional. She taught a full adult class and treated everyone like that. I would go back to this college.

I love this school but the VA department is the most unhelpful thing in the world. Instead of telling me what I needed over the phone they tell me to come in and then Schedule me an appointment for the next day to have one of their advisors sign a piece of paper that could have been taken care of in a second. They were "too busy" while I was the only one in the place. Most of these people are Vets and I'm infuriated that they wouldn't work to simplify this process to help other Vets avoid headaches like these.

I love thos community college. Besides the classes, the people here is what truly makes it special. The people who work here are always kind and willing to help and have people for each specific department. Now academic speaking, it is quite strict and can very from teacher to teacher. I recommend using Rate my Professor when picking classes for the teacher has a lot of say of any class projects, tests, and grades. The times I didn't do my research was when I wouldn't do so well or ended up hating that specific class. But, the thing I do cherish is that I learn and can apply. Most teachers I have taken I have been capable of passing on that information to my daily personal and work life. MCC uses a system called Canvas which is very useful and isn't hard to follow, I recommend to those who aren't tech savvy to take the time to really get to know it. It helps communicate teachers with students and know what your grade is at. Also, each class is priced based on credits given for that class. Anyone thinking to attend good luck!

Mesa Community College changed my life. I was able to go back to school after a 10-year hiatus and complete my associates degree. The faculty, staff and resources available are top notch. I ended up going to study abroad and transferred to ASU with a full-ride scholarship. Go T-Brids!

Very friendly and professional staff, good professors, wide variety of courses, and they claim to have the largest community college campus in America.

Their bureaucratic inefficiency is mind-boggling. I've never waited so long to get so little done. I guess you get what you pay for.

The updates made to the enrollment process and having the enrollment center is a huge improvement. There are a few teachers who should be avoided (check Rate my professor) due to lack of organization and ability to assist with questions during lectures; however, MCC has wonderful tutoring centers available for all subjects. There are study areas available in each building that holds lectures. There are many opportunities available to student life and honors.
To those who say the financial aid staff is rude--you get more with honey than vinegar. I've been annoyed by issues, yes, but most of those issues aren't the college's fault! They try very hard to make sure you can stay enrolled, etc. If you need an extension, you politely ask for one and generally they will work with you.

Mesa Community Collage was a great place to go to school. I was very impressed by the quality of the instructors and the small class sizes. They have some very nice new buildings including a great library to study in. This was a great option to start getting collage credit at more of an affordable price.

School sucks. Payed in full and graduated and get transfered around from person to person about my degree which im waiting for. People are rude and have no idea what the hell they are doing. Dont go here. Everyone plays like they care but they are not very bright.
