Enrollment office experience is worse than the worst DMV you have ever been to if that's even possible. The "set up" for waiting in line is one of the most idiotic set ups and does not make any sense not to mention after waiting 45 minutes to make a payment the cashier told me she posted it to the wrong account.

The dept of veteran affairs will try to steal your money, you can give the the correct direct deposit info, & they will add in their direct deposit info to send your hard earned money to their accounts. They will smile & act like they helping you in your face while having a bull's eye target on your back. Be cautious

This College is on the larger side. It is as large as some universities. The massive complex can be a bit much if you are looking for the small, cozy, community college feel. There are a LOT of professors here that are some amazing people. Some of them will change your life and you can really see that they care about the students and have a marvelous work ethic. The real problem of this place is with the advisement, enrollment and counseling staff. Don't be surprised if they point you to the entirely wrong classes and you end up spending a thousand or so dollars on something that was completely wrong. They also will forget to drop or add a class from time to time. BE ON TOP OF THEM!!!! MAKE SURE THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOB!!!!

If you're not a fan of prejudice or Teachers picking favorites I wouldn't recommend the theater department there. The instructors there need to change the way how they act around the students. On an unrelated note if anyone is ever being harassed by the campus police, especially by one policeman named Bonifacio C. Gonzales, please feel free to make a complaint about him. I feel it do many people a favor to at least have him fired.

Good school and challenging, but parking is a nightmare. Also, this school is not friendly to people that have previous coursework from other schools. Their system of transferring is broken, but I guess that isn't surprising when they can get you to pay money to take their version of the same classes. Any classes that you got a minus in, MCC transfers in at the next lower letter grade. (ie A- for 92% at another school equals a B at MCC even though a 92% at MCC is an A). 5 stars for education as their classes are harder than ASU, but the negative things I mentioned bring the rating down.

Love this school and place! I used to go to a university where they were not as supportive, affordable, or convenient. The professors here really do care and want you to succeed. I'm bummed that I didn't go here sooner! Grateful for taxes and tuition cost that help this place stay in business!

The parking is horrible to come across. The classes are wonderful. The employees in administration, fafsa, etc. Are very rude and not helpful at all. It's better if you just do things yourself. Library is nice except when it gets crowded and you need a comp to do hw real bad. overall This school gets an eeehhhh....

I've been waiting 2 months for my transcripts to be sent from MCC to NAU so that I can now pursue my BA. After calling the student call center (records) every day this week and emailing them to find out the status of why my transcripts still haven't been sent I still haven't received any information from anyone. I must add that there is no way to talk to anyone from records at the school because all calls and emails go through the student center. This school is terrible with communicating with its students. I've been promised to be contacted via email and phone about my case and by a manager and I never heard from anyone. This school needs to seriously get their act together so that students can continue their education at a 4 year college. As of right now I am not able to attend NAU because they're still waiting for transcripts that I paid for to be sent from MCC.

The school was great! I attended MCC from 2007 through 2009 and they have a great teaching staff. However, my most recent experience with them was rather unpleasant. I'm working on my Masters through ASU which requires tests to be proctored. Last semester I drove all the way out the Rio campus on the 10 and Broadway. In an effort to save time, I set up my tests here.

When I called to make an appointment, the staff showed a lack of organization and had poor phone skills. When it finally came time for my appointment, I showed up and found the testing facility to be in a noisy, open room. Not a good testing environment. The testers even interrupted me during the test to get me to fill out a form field that I had missed. Sorry but that can wait. At the end they make you pay which fine except the cashier is literally across campus and then you have to bring back a receipt.

Don't go here for proctored exams!

The Rose garden at MCC is the largest public rose garden in the southwest, boasting more than 9,000 rose bushes. We also saw a kid, a homeless guy and some people taking pictures. One of them wore a long flowing violet dress that was almost as pretty as the roses. Oh, and I was wearing red shoes, just so you have an accurate mental picture of what was going on this afternoon.

Absolutely useless. Call to ask for a little bit of information for my graduation progress and wait on hold for an hour. Didn't even get to talk to anyone since I had class to attend. But I did get to waste an entire hour because nobody could pick up the phone.

They handle their students like cattle ranchers. I've had several instances where Financial Aid wasn't disbursed until well after the drop/refund date which is a serious risk for any student looking to pay for school by any other means besides out of pocket.

I did have some wonderful professors who really liked their jobs but I had some that were terrible and didn't really want to see students succeed. One of my teachers counted how many times their students used filler words such as "like" or "um" in presentations then docked them points based off them which would have been fine it was a public speaking class... but it wasn't. Schools like MCC are reasons for-profit schools are worth the price. MCC doesn't care where there students are going as long as they bring in the money.

*UPDATE* IMPROVEMENT!!!! This Spring I started the semester and it seems some attitude have changes, and people have been more helpful. Public safety has been exceptional. Advisement and financial aide this winter worked hard and maintained a good, positive attitude despite the wait times. Tutoring has been positive. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the other departments yet. Overall I raised my three stars to four. Keep up the good work MCC!

Mesa Community College Is a pretty good school. There are areas where I would rate it five stars, and other areas where I would give the college one -to- two stars.

The Instructors:
Four stars

The instructors for the most part are awesome. You should really do a little research on the instructor for a class prior to the semester. I generally find that the teachers are helpful, and fair. Most are willing to help you successed, as long as they see you putting an effort. On the other hand, I have had a couple teachers that were terrible, and you spend the semester cursing them privately cause the seem to live for crushing dreams. I would say this is a rare, but their are instructors like that.

Advising/financial aide/ Disability/ student life
One star
My experiences with the advising, financial aide, Disability, and Student Life have been sub par. I found no help, with advising. I was literally told to take classes I didn't need. I did my own research, and learned how to use the student center online. The progress report was curcial in finding what I needed, also the wedsite for degrees and programs also helpped.

Financial Aide was horrible, the individuals lacked professionalism, and didn't seem to have a clue. Literally went to them five times over the summer to make sure paper work was in order( i already completed my Fasfa early). They focused on pointing fingers at other individuals, and not solving the problem. I experienced them losing paperwork. Always keep copies of all the paperwork, and jot down the names of previous individual who have "helpped" you.

Disability was rude, and didn't care. I was stuck borrowing a wheelchair for a week. On a Friday afternoon I went out to where my car was parked, and called them to pick up the wheel chair I borrowed. The girl was rude and told me I had to come back across campus because, " she couldn't help me nor could she find someone to pick up the wheelchair". Asu's disability actual has golf carts where people who have injuries, or conditions can catch a ride to class. Mesa Community College has plenty of carts, but no one helpping injured people get around campus.

Student Life was ok, but seemed to be a clic. Honor's society was a joke, Twice in one week they let me down. Forgot to notify a teacher to be recognized, and changed parameters on a subject without notification. For a group that are suppose to be above the cut, they also display lack of professionalism.

Tutoring
Five Stars
My experiences here are great. The Math tutoring everyone was helpful and wanted to see you successed. There were patient and explained concepts, and were sincere. I stopped by to thank them for their help, and told my end grade (A). they were encouraged.

Overall my experiences:

If you attend this school you will need to take initive to get any help or paper work needed my Financial aide.

Advising is a joke.

Disability in humane

Academic society is incompetent

Tutoring Awesome

Instructors are helpful, and encouraging for the most part, but check each teacher out before taking the course.

As a fresh-out-of-high school student, I have never been so pleased with a community college. I hope to transfer to a university but I figured that if I wanted to ease into a college environment, I'd better start out at a place like Mesa Community College. The professors want you to learn their material and they WANT you to succeed at it. Personally, the financial aid has really helped my family and I since I come from a home that financially struggles. I'm the first to attend and complete college in my family so this is a big step. The campus is beautiful and filled with a variety of cultures, as well as a friendly atmosphere. The classrooms usually occupy about 20-30 students (depending on the class) so it is a small yet comforting environment for learning. Plenty of activities, clubs, and sports and the library is fantastic.

Awesome community college. I have taken quite a few tech classes here and have been very impressed. I have been in the tech industry now for about 8 years. MCC prepped me very well for entering the tech field, I would highly recommend the network engineering programs

Have had great success at Mesa Community College. I would recommend starting your college education at this school as it is cheaper. You can geat the first two years done of your degree for less than you would at a university. Advisement at the Red Mt. Campus are great as well as the honors counselors at that location. The free tutoring is also very nice to have and is a great resource. Teachers have been very helpful. I love the Red Mt. campus and would recommend going there. It has a smaller more friendly environment but the main campus is good too. Overall great school :)

Decent enrollment service, Half the instructors are OK. They do have payment plans. The internet courses are somewhat alright...The issue with these classes online ss that half the time your gonna follow instructions precisely as the instructor dictates for their course. The problem with these online courses is that the instructors CAN BE lazy in replying to their students. People pay hard earned money for good communication with their instructors and it is a disappointment that they think they do not have to answer to their students right away. So if your asking your instructor for advice on how to find extra info in order to help you out on quizzes or writing styles, you know 'learn more'...you can forget it...some of these people are lazy and want quick cash ripping off students because they supposedly should of been born learning different formats of writing.

Every snice I moved to mcc I had nothing, but bad experiences. The advisors refuse to transfer my credits from another state community college and when they finally did they put the classes in wrong. I can no longer call mcc to set up appointments to speak to advisors to get my transcripts fixed, I must go online, which dose not even work. If there was another community college that I can go to I would. The serivces from the adviors is extermly poor and not helpful. I am very disappointed in the treatment of students and how the advisors run the office. I should not have to come into the office for a whole year just to have me transcripts accepted and another year just to have my degree be acknowledge. I would appreciate if the office workers show more respect and help the students then brushing us off. This school has turn into a money hungry school then a student school. Very unsatisfied with this school.

You don't have to go to school here, some one will come here, don't come to MCC unless you been a strait A student all 4 years in high school here in Arizona. If you graduated from high school from other states go directly to C.R.England, they will give you a future if you love driving.

Horrible customer service over the phone, they delete student files to cover their tails, don't send transcripts when requested, don't reach out to students requesting transcripts to let them know their whole computer system is down which prolongs getting into Universities, incompetent people in the admissions office. Taking legal action against them.

Came to issue an error on my student application, lady in reception wouldn't let me wait in the office and told me to go to Maricopa Community College building for my problem. I drove all the way to Maricopa Community College and once inside, i told that they don't keep student records and that i should go back to Mesa Community College. By this time i got tired of going back and fourth. Maybe ill just apply to University of Phoenix.
