Lovely hotel. Room was extremely comfortable and spacious. Excellent breakfast. And very good location close to town centre
Lovely old worldie English hotel. Good food. Great staff and a wonderful atmosphere. If you come to Banbury you must visit.
Staff good, breakfast good, shower rubbish, no heating controls in the room, creaky floorboards throughout (especially the room above), no soundproofing on external windows. Cheaper than the place I usually stay but much worse value overall.
I would not recommend this hotel for a group stay. I work as a travel&accommodation coordinator in film, and I ve booked out this hotel in January 2021.
The hotel did not feel it s their responsibility to check the updated rooming lists I ve been sending them with more than 48h notice before arrival, which resulted in a disaster - one of the guests has been told by the reception his name was not on the list and went to find accommodation elsewehre. They have also been informed more than 48h in advance that all guests will be arriving late and at the same time, but they did not assign more than one person to the reception.
The breakfast was in a takeaway bag, and rated by my client as insufficient .
The manager wasn t apologetic and clearly indicated she doesn t think double checking rooming lists and reading emails is her responsibility.
The building itself is charming and has lots of character to it. However some of my clients who stayed in the non-upgraded rooms mentioned this was the worst hotel they have ever stayed in .
Amazing historic hotel, great full English breakfast in the morning too! Very close to several dinning options all within walking distance.
Great venue, location is superb and the staff are lovely. Great for social events and commercial events.
Room for a meeting was good, well lit and comfortable.
Grand old building had a very enjoyable stay.only complaint was the dreadful choice of music at breakfast!
Old hotel but some nice things about it. Staff very good and friendly.
Great place for a company dinner. Nice food and good atmosphere
Friendly staff and good food. Lost a star for the loud, foul mouthed clientele in the bar.
Attended a work meeting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is available, but difficult to access. Because it's such an old building, things seem odd and dirty. So I think an update would be a good move. Never stayed over night as they were asking for too much.
We enjoyed a comfortable stay. Staff were excellent. Room (54)was a little 'tired' and dated. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue as well. Parking good.
Expensive, outdated, not the cleanest, needs some work... In its current state I don't know how they justify that cost. I didn't complain as was there for one night and work put me in there. Bed comfortable enough though.
Very nice afternoon tea.
Special thanks from my daughter who is gluten intolerant - excellent sandwiches and cakes.
Service was friendly and considerate.
Attractive old building.
Decent place with good prices. I recommend the suite for more space. Does need a bit of a refurbish but you can't really complain when it's such good value for money. It's a good location too near to a cinema, high street, 10 min walk from station.
Great old hotel, wonderful location in the middle of banbury. Good dinner and breakfast included. Definitely plan on returning
Absolutely amazing food, we are not local and popped in for lunch not expecting much but were blown away with the quality of food. Could not recommend enough for food! Lovely helpful friendly staff, decor slightly worn but who cares when the food is so amazing! Sorry ate the hot wings before taking a pic far too good to interrupt!
Mercure hotel in Banbury quite dated but with decent rooms. Some technical problems such as the fact that the bathroom chain does not work sometimes or the fact that the rooms do not have air conditioning.
