The best Neapolitan pizza in DC. I've tried them all.
Great pizza. Seating can take a while. But worth the wait.
Friendly staff, great pizza, and good beer selection.
True Italian pizza. There you can often hear Italian. If Italians go there for pizza...
Authentic NY Pizza here in DC...FINALLY 100%worth the 50 minute drive. Love it!!
The most authentic Italian pizza I've had in the states!
Oh my god you must come here!!! Come!! Come!! Come here now!! Yummy! They serve pizza that is certified by the Italian government they are a certified member of the international Neapolitan pizza society.
I get pizza here once a week. It's delicious. I always get the quattro fromaggi pizza, but I will add onions, garlic, and extra gorgonzola. I usually order to go, but ate here once in person too. The service was great. I highly recommend Menomale for anyone who is looking for excellent pizza here in DC.
The pizza is amazing and it's a nice spot to hangout
My favorite pizza in the city. Love this hidden gem in Brookland. It's definitely worth going out of your way and making a trip here. It's a really small place so sometimes it can get really crowded, but the addition of their patio has helped that to some degree.
The Brooklandissima was delicious if you're a fan of veggie pizzas!
Great little pizza place in Northeast DC. Several friends of mine raved about the food they had here and it s only a few blocks away from my house so I went in to give it a try one Sunday afternoon. I love the fact that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Tried sitting outside but the mosquitoes eventually drove me inside. My partner and I had a couple of beers and tried the smoked turkey pizza. It was absolutely delicious! The crust was the perfect texture and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh! So happy I found this pain. I will definitely be back to try more of their delicious food.
The hubby and I have been on a quest, since we moved back to the US, to find a Pizza that tastes like the ones we used to eat in Italy, after almost 28 years, we've finally found it. The joy after the first bite was overwhelming... wait let's back up to the aroma... when you're carrying that box in the vehicle and you get to smell it all the way home. A killer indeed!! We were so happy, as if we won the Lottery. Covid 19 messed up our Italian Vacation plans, but it didn't stop us from having the real deal not too far from where we resides. I don't work there, I don't know them, but I am from Italy and grew up having a taste of the best pizzas in the world nor do I get paid to write this or speaking of it to my neighbors, but let me tell you, If I could give them a 10 stars I would!! Thank you Menomale for making our life happy with your great Pizza and products.
Real northern Italian food. Very good and service excellent.
Delicious pizza! Cute atmosphere. They also have my favorite sparkling red wine!!
Easily the best pizza in the city. The dough is deliciously perfect.
Its really good pizza. You can even watch as they wood fire it for you! It is however a personal size pizza, in my opinion. Although I am a bigger guy so that may have something to do with it as well. Ultimately A great place to take a potential date off the beaten path with some pretty great atmosphere and service, but I would not expect you to be feeding your family of 5 here for less than $12 a person.
In summary come for the taste but you might leave hungry.
Best pizza in town. Good beer selection. Restaurant is a bit small but clean.
Great Pizza, crappy neighborhood but it isn't dangerous.
Great pizza and Franziskaner on tap. The salad and cheeses were authentic and fresh. Casual feel, polite service. Hot spot, so be ready to wait
Only 3 stars because the Gluten Free pizza is not really a pizza, but some kind of flat bread with toppings. Regular pizzas are really good, with the right texture and perfectly baked
We found Menomale online and wanted to see just how authentic this restaurant really was. My wife's family is from Napoli so she would be the true test to see if this was really authentic AND good quality. Well, we were NOT disappointed! The food was fresh, flavorful and very authentic. We ordered Insalata Di Pesce and a pizza. My wife couldn't stop going on about how she felt right at home with the heat and humidity (we sat outside) and the amazing food that took her back to her childhood. Well worth the time, the trip and the effort to get there. And our server was wonderful too. :)
Easily the best pizza I've had since I moved over to North America from Europe. Very glad I dropped in when I was visiting DC!
Authentic menu and decor. Great friendly staff. You may have to wait for a table but it's worth it. Bonus points for having vegan cheese.
Very small but lively, happy place with great pizza. Neopolitan pizza has a thin crust and is droopy and kind of wet in the center. Personally, I love it. Unlike other types of pizzas it's more about the sauce and toppings than tons of cheese (unless you get one of the cheese-focused choices). All pizzas come in one size, which is like a quite large personal pizza. They cost about $15 each. But you have to appreciate the artisan nature of the food. It was delicious.
Great pizza. I ate a whole pie for myself and I don't usually do that so you know it's good. It's really thin crust so one pizza probably won't feed two people. The prices aren't outrageous so two pies won't break the bank. The tables are small and the chairs are backless. This can lead to some issues when trying to coordinate multiple pies. The chocolate trifle was delicious.
What a treasure this place is! Pizza of this quality is almost impossible to get in the US.
A small venue with very tasty pizza tucked away off of Baltimore Avenue. The staff is friendly and attentive. One of the best pizza places in the DMV.
It was a nice spot. The service was pretty good. The pizza was good. And the draft was flowing. What more can you ask?
Authentic Italian foods. Good beer selection.
Rather uncomfortable seating. Great service.
The pizza wasnt well done. And I don't like cutting it myself
Their pizza was delicious, it has fresh ingredients and great toppings. Good customer service.
So overall pretty good. Let me start off by saying this is the best pizza dough I've come across.
So I come in and order a pizza margherita, which I use as a starting point at any pizza place that has them. The taste was excellent, the texture though is a bit off. The pizza was a bit soupy and they go a little heavy on the cheese (there's more white than red). I recommend letting the pizza cool a little bit before cutting and eating. Again the crust was amazingly cooked.
The interior is a little lacking and cramped, although I don't know where else they'd set base in the area.
Overall pretty good but could be better
Great place to have a bite with the family! Love every single option. Service is friendly definitely I recommended this to try!
One of the best if not the best Neapolitan pizza in DC / DMV area.
The service here is superb with all the staff being very kind and welcoming.
This has to be one of the top 3 pizza places in DC. The staff is always nice, the restaurant is sort of small and crowded but feels homey and cheerful, and the pizza itself is amazing.
Read a review that interested in a lobster pizza and also in the mood for neapolitan pizza but got talked into a calzone! Bummer they don't serve the lobster pizza anymore.
So the crust was very good, crispy and just the right amount of chewiness and not too heavy. The mozzarella had was smooth texture and slightly smoky flavor but a calzone needs more ricotta than mozzarella. The amount of prosciutto was sparse. It was so sparse and thinly cut that made the flavor bland.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If I had more time may want to visit again to try the pizza. small place but good atmosphere.
My favorite pizza place in DC. they are not stuck-up and act normally although their pizza is super. The ingredients are authentic and the experience inside is also. I am Italian from the region where the pizza was invented and I really recommend this place!
Food deserves 5 stars. However, dining room acoustics get 1/2 star. It wouldn't take much to put backs on chairs and sound-attenuation panels on the walls.
Good menu like any pizzeria in Italy.
The pizza is delicious and it is real Neapolitan style.
One of the most authentic pizza I've had in a long time. Highly recommend the margarita pizza and chocolate truffle.
Good pizza. Crust could be crispier and cost is more than I would like. But worth supporting local spot.
Super delicious pizza served by the friendliest staff.
Love this place - Food is excellent and I will NOT eat at those other pizza places.
Some of the best pizza in the city. Enthusiastic staff, cozy environment, worth the wait.
Great authentic Italian place. Not very big inside.
At Menomale you can taste one of the best pizzas in all the DC area. I am Italian, thus I know what I am talking about!
Just so amazing. This is REAL italian pizza. Can t eat pizza anywhere else anymore
The best pizza I ve ever eaten. Actually every dish I ve eaten at Menomale has been fantastic Great service
I had previously thought Timber had the best pizza. This place is better. The sauce is delicious. Sweet tangy tomato sauce. The dough is phenomenal. The topping really don't matter when those 2 main ingredients are aced. This is my new go-to.
Only complaint was service was missing for some gaps (we wanted more beer!) but we were the only ones sitting outside so maybe just an odd time
Covit world doesn't alow for full experience, however the pizza was very good, with one exception - parts of the dough was not cooked evenly. The topping however was nicely done!
Menomale is the closest we have been to Bella Napoli since living there recently. We wind up coming here again and again. Their Margherita pizza is spot on, and it is about the only place I can get Peroni on tap. Bravo, Menomale!!
Really good pizza. Service great. The carbonated drinks had no carbonation. The waitress had to search for a can soda
Wine, water and beer readily available
The pizza tasted very good. But I ordered one pizza to go and they dumped the vastly diverse toppings (artichoke hearts, prosciutto, whole olives, mushrooms, etc.) in their own piles, so that to have each topping on a slice of pizza I had to redistribute with my hands. And tear the pizza with my hands too, since they didn't cut it. Weird and inconvenient.
Always outstanding pizza. One of top pizza restos in DC. Service is always excellent.
Amazing pizza, best I ve ever had. They do classics right and even offer some options for those who aren t able to experience the joy of cheese on their pizza. That was actually how I found this place. My wife has a bad dairy allergy but loves pizza (I know...), so Menomale has their own in house cachew ricotta they can put on any of those classic pies.
Go. You won t be disappointed.
Great little pizza place. Not a quiet place, but good pizza and fine beer list.
First and foremost, the service here was fantastic! The one waitress seemed a bit stressed but she did an excellent job of helping us. The pizza and sandwiches were also excellent.
Had the best pizza of my life here. A must visit if you appreciate good pizza. Get the margaritha when you come.
Pizza here is SO GOOD. It's obvious why Menomale is so popular. Service has been a bit slow both times I've been here, so may not be the best option if you're in a rush. There's also usually a wait, especially for larger parties.
A little expensive, especially considering how thin the pizza is, but truly DELICIOUS. The Diavolo pizza was the best pizza I have ever had, period. It's juicy with so much flavor. I popped by on a whim because I had a video shoot in the area, but I would love to return someday.
As a 4-year resident of DC, I call this place the best pizza in DC. Ingredients are fresh, the cooking method is fast and flavorful, and the ambience is relaxed and welcoming. Not an obvious location for high-volume tourist traffic, so expect locals from the Brookland and Edgewood neighborhoods, and pizza aficionados from the DMV area.
Great gluten free pizza, friendly service, neighborhood favorite!
The best napolitan pizza, cook pizza with wood oven I love this pizza
Incredible service! I asked to have a pizza made with half vegan and half dairy cheese. The chef was so kind and creative to creative a little crust barrier down the center to keep the cheeses separate. Amazing!
Wonderful quality Italian cuisine. Rich flavors on a relaxed patio. Reasonably priced, with friendly staff. A great find!
Hands down, best neapolitan style pizza I have had in the DC area. If you are not used to this type of pizzas, consider allotting almost one full pizza per person.
