Love this place so much. Huge menu with so many great options. Friendly staff and nostalgic setting.

The food was terrible waited over a hour to be served and when I got the food it was just a big waste of money

Slightly overpriced standard American food, okay but nothing particularly special for the price!

Enjoy it better early afternoon until closing. Variety of food is average but good. Get a window seat to enjoy 53rd street activities. Very busy during morning hours.

Side salads were $6 and it was just lettuce. They burned our food and the smoke detector went off so there was smoke everywhere. Music is way too loud.

It's sad. Years ago I lived across the street from this spot and it was my go to. Now the tables are sticky and rickety and they serve soft drinks with no flavor. The service is inattentive. Its a sad shadow of its former self. Goodbye old friend. I prefer to remember you as you once were.

$4 for a cup of coffee when you order the breakfast special. They don't have cost of drinks. $7 orange juice!!!! Never again !!!!!

What I love about mellow yellow is that there prices are good for the kind of food the have. I love going there, its a nice place.

They have a very hard time holding onto staff. The wait time can be unreasonable due to this. However, the food is tasty and the prices are affordable, so it s worth a roll of the dice, especially if you have good company.

I only eat the rotisserie chicken everything else is yucky!

Very bad table service my waiter only came around just to drop off my food never to be seen again couldn't get no refill on my drink no napkins either never again will I come back it was my first and last time they can do better.

We had breakfast there, for 5.99 we had 2 large pancakes, eggs and sausage. Excellent and at a amazing price

Nice location and atmosphere but the food was bad. Simple request of waffles and chicken resulted in old chicken and cold waffles. Could not eat chicken and once I left I was sick to my stomach. Not going back

This place is good for certain things..... CATFISH is not one of them. They don't Know how to fry catfish. I get it and the sides are as hard as plastic. I tell the waiter and he says it's suppose to be like that due to the breading. What a fool. No y'all just don't know how to fry it. I should not have to use a knife to cut through this fish... What a shame.

Lovely staff but relatively small portion sizes for the price.

Got the meat omelette with sausage and eggs were very stiff, didnt like it. Also got a pineapple mimosa and it had no taste. It was like watered down pineapple juice. Sent that back. Usually the food is good, 1st bad experience with something I ate here. Maybe the had b-team working in kitchen. But it wasn't the usually good food I have had in past.

Comfort food all day! What lacks in robust flavour is made up in warm, fuzzy feelings.

I've been coming to Mellow yellow since 1976, whenever I'm in Chicago I stop by, great food, amazing atmosphere.

What in on Saturday! Food was nasty I have never seen a rectangular hamburger meat before cheese wasn t melted. My credit card was swiped twice for two different amount s. The manager Julie wasn t concerned at all and keeps saying to call her back. Never going to this place again.

Not impressed with the food. I had the fajita salad which had very little resemblance to a salad. You would be hard pressed to find much besides the meat onions and sauce in the tortilla bowl. I did have a good margarita though. They did have a very accommodating staff who took excellent of our large group on short notice though.

Nice place for all day breakfast, brunch and dinner

Today my nephew and I stop in for dinner before a movie, he always ask to go to Mellow Yellow because in the days of old he would get a shake and it would be made with real ice cream awould be nice and think and have real fruit in it, however today he received a watery ? Shake. We gave it back however there was no apologies from our very inattentive waiter, he seemed irritated. Also he did not give us flat ware to eat with, my 14 year old nephew got up an got somem from another table. The soup was good and hot my mash potatoes were cold and was given before he brought the reheated chicken to go with it who brings part of a dinner.

Overall, the experience was not what we had many moons ago, because this is the third time that we have experienced poor service and thought it wise to let you know how the service and food has truly changed and not for the better. . Hope this help the food and customer service.

Haven't even eaten yet and I'm disappointed. The lady who refills water is very slow and rude. She comes to the table and doesn't speak and has a very bad attitude. Not to mention we've been waiting what seems like forever for our food!

Great experience the food was delicious and the customer service was off the chain will definitely go back and will highly recommended..

We have not been here in a while, now I remember why. This time they didn't have any silverware. They gave us plastic forks which did not work for the waffles. The decaf coffee tastes like tea. And, also our waitress didn't come back after we ask for silverware a second time.

Their long islands are the best. The menu is a bit overwhelming and I reccomend that you stick to the basics.

Its a nice cozy spot with great breakfast items.The customer service was excellent. Its a very family oriented space as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A restaurant where you can eat a wide variety of dishes for three meals a day. The service is friendly, but it is a little pricey. Liquor is also sold in a variety of ways, but cocktails are not recommended. It is recommended for hamburgers and chili and is a restaurant that can accommodate many people. There is no such thing as a restaurant in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

This is a great restaurant. Food, aesthetic, price are all good. I have caught the early bird special often--pancakes are very fluffy. I have got skillets and steak & eggs. Of course, 53rd street is a nice strip to walk off the calories afterwards.

Worst. First. Experience. Ever. When she first brought our waters out, mine had a gnat in it.. We proceeded to order, she only brought out one kids drink, I told her I had ordered two. Then when we got our nachos appetizer, it was supposed to be just chicken and cheese and It had other stuff on it.. THEN A good while later, she came back and told me they didn t have the sauce to make the chicken Alfredo I ordered.. I proceeded to tell them something else and when they brought out our food, they brought us out three kids meals, when I only had ordered TWO which I had told her multiple times. And on top of that, the food wasn t good. Will not be returning. The worst restaurant experience I ve ever had.

I went when they first opened at 8AM and the customer service was just outstanding. Food came out fast and fresh and it's reasonably considerate of your pockets

Hey Guys, I recently ate at Mellow Yellow. I would have to say that I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, mainly because of the customer service. I had a waitress named Johana L. She was very rude and disrespectful. I hope no one else receives the same experiences.

We were not given any eating utensils to eat our food with,I went and got them myself. The child did not get his drink with the meal had to ask for it. I think the waitress was preoccupied with other customers she was taking pictures and having fun. I haven't been here in ten or twenty years very disappointed . The old man was a Better server than she.

Was just there for breakfast. The food is horrible!!!! Left that nasty, no seasoned, overpriced food on the table. Never ever will I attempt to eat there again. Slow service for nasty ass bland food. Salt didn't even help!!

There is nothing at all special about the food..please don't ever order the rotisserie chicken ...didn't even eat it...I knew I would be disappointed before I even walked in...I did this to myself. If you want good food at a great price you'll find neither here...over priced and much less than ok. I wish I saved my money and went to Boston Market. It's a shame that the taste is what is causing such a negative review...the service is actually pretty great...too bad they serve such sub par food...this us a very gracious 3 starts btw...not worth it...at all...

I ordered chicken tenders and i asked for bbq sauce with it they told me I would have to pay for it that is crazy

Food was good. Service ok. Sign out front indicated 10% off food. Got the bill and the waitress said that was only good Monday-Thursday. I'm not seeing that on the sign. I was there on Friday. So No discount for me. Faulty advertisement.

Well Tad, I Was impressed that night with your speedy response which was within an hour or so of my review. Your request for a phone call made me believe you wanted to make things right. After calling twice and leaving VM both times, there has been no response and I'm doubtful of your good intensions.

First time eating here , I understand jumbo shrimp is expensive but those jumbo were squished. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and the Mac and cheese was the only thing eatable

Went here 2 days ago and service was absolutely horrible. Waiter was very slow and it wasn't even busy. And when I asked where my food was he got an attitude. Left there and went to Valois. Very satisfied there.

Quite unimpressed with the food here. Ordered fish and chips, and the chips came out 10 minutes after the fish arrived, and that was only after having to ask for it. The fish was dry and tough, and the tartar sauce tastes like the worst of the prepackaged stuff and is served in those plastic takeaway containers, even when dining in. At least the fries were okay...

Update: The owner did contact me and made a concerted effort to correct this issue. Bumping review up to 3 stars as a result.

My credit card number was stolen here. Avoid at any cost. If you must eat here, pay cash.

Attentive coffee service and the hollandaise sauce was on point!

It's been a while since I was here and the breakfast is still delicious.

Food was good. Our waiter not very customer friendly. I didn't take it personally but it was pretty obvious that he was not in the best mood. I did take it out of his tip though.
