Getting through to anyone is like rocket science. ...

Getting through to anyone is like rocket science. I called 3 or 4 different numbers and when I got through after the robot menu and a long hold, I couldn't hear the person on the other end. So, call back, go through maze, wait on hold again and hope for the best. I managed to schedule an appointment but after some consideration, I realized I don't want to have to deal with this frustration every time I need to make or cancel an appointment. I cancelled the appointment and went with a doctor outside the hospital. By the way, cancelling required a call back as they were "having problems with the system." Georgetown has such a great reputation but "the system" is a massive point of friction and I for one, am opting out.

My Granddaughter came in to emergency. My daughter and I arrived shortly after. My daughter has type one diabetes and her blood sugar started dropping. Officer Justin Davis immediately went to the back and got her some ginger ale and apple juice and made sure that we were alright. I feel as though he should be recognized for going above and beyond. his job duties

I am sitting in the waiting room literally crying from pain. I have been waiting to be seen for almost 2 hours. When my boyfriend asked for a rough idea of when I could be taken in, the lady said oh it s gonna be a while. Again I am literally crying with so much pain and the one staff member I can find is sitting on her phone. They showed no sympathy or interest towards me. When we asked the staff if I could at least have a pain killer, they said you have to ask the nurse. The nurse didn t show up for quite a while. This is the second time I ve been here, and my first experience was not good either. If you go here, be prepared to wait for several hours. This is a painful experience.

Update: I was finally seen by a doctor and an RN. They were very friendly and efficient in helping me feel better.

I felt absolutely defeated, uncared for, and helpless when I was at Georgetown University Hospital. I had a major complaint regarding an aggressive cyst in my mandible that worsened as it developed a horrific infection that was resistant towards many antibiotics. I waited in throbbing, aching, burning, and numbing pain for 10 HOURS in the waiting room, only to then be told by a tech, that there s no guarantee that the doctor will be able to see me.

During the midst of COVID in 2020, I worked with many staff at the hospital to be evaluated for a kidney transplant. My sister (donor) and I had a great experience during the entire process. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and extremely competent. We felt they really cared about us. The Transplant Institute and all the staff are absolutely amazing to work with....highly recommend.

Located right on campus but maybe hard to navigate. Cafeteria was more expensive than usual so be aware. Some staff were questionable but most staff were nice and helpful. The questionable staff was due to patient/provider interactions

I have been under the care of this hospital during my pregnancy as well as my birth and postpartum care. My overall experience in hospital was decent and had a great team of doctors. Communication outside of it is a whole different story, I have had instances in which I call their emergency line to get advice from the on call doctors and 9/10 I don t receive a call back at all. Last night my new born son developed a low grade fever that lasted through the night, I immediately called the hospital and was told I d get a call back within 30 minutes. 3 hours passed and no call. I called again, and was told the same thing. Two hours passed and still nothing. Finally at 6 am this morning I called extremely upset because I didn t know what it could be or how else to soothe my son. I was written off but the doctors on my concerns and was told that I was overreacting and to do nothing about my concerns. I understand that the on call doctors work in a hospital setting where any situation can become emergent very quickly- but my son matters too. His health isn t something to just be written off. I am deeply disappointed by the staff in the manner that they handled this and the lack of interest to address my concerns.

As a senior in excruciating stomach and abdominal and chest pain with a stroke level blood pressure. I left another hospital after 5 hours without any care at all. Arriving at GTU Hospital, this professional ER Team performed very well under pressure during a more than 100% capacity ER. These young professionals were experienced, polite and gracious the entire time helping and explaining to walk-ins and performing follow-up and arranging for testing in a Triage environment. They performed the best ever on behalf of everyone there. Though I didn't get everything done, I received enough care to not return home feeling uncared about; with at least the vitals accomplished. Thank you ER Team for all that you do.

I have been calling central scheduling for about three weeks trying to get an appt. I know there have been problems with the phone system because the one time a person answered she told me about it. But I have also reached a message system that says calls will be returned next business day. I have left three messages with no response. I am beginning to think that I should find a primary care physician with privileges at GT and pay for concierge service.
