The nurses were great to me! There is this one male tech who pulled and pulled the rubber band tourniquet until it gave me a rub burn with trying to draw blood. My arm was black and blue around that area. Then the new doctor comes in and sends me home right in the middle of hurricane Florence. I told him I live in a danger zone area and you are sending me back there in my condition. I have a server bowel obstruction and it had not resolved yet when he threw me out. His answer to this problem was to hand me a 12 page listing of shelters.. In my condition you want me in a shelter? Seriously!! When family and friends called to talk to management they hung up on everyone...even my kids.
Food is horrible... Who eats sweet tomato soup? It was sweet like koolaid! Chicken salad sandwich was chicken on hard white bread and a mayo pack.. I don't even know why they ask what you want for your next meal because they never bring you what you order.
I'd like to say that the nurses were great..

The staff in the heart / vascular ICU were outstanding with my uncle. The nurse was very patient and caring and kept us informed, answering all of our questions. I think Dr Hazelwood's roll there is also one of ministry. Although they were not able to save my uncle's life because of multiple problems, the staff was very supportive in our decision to remove him from life support. They made this process easier because of their care and counsel. After my uncle passed, Dr Hazelwood sang a hymn over him. Never have I experienced such a caring doctor.

Unfortunately I have first hand experience of the ...

Unfortunately I have first hand experience of the healthcare or lack thereof, which is provided by the doctors and nurses at McLeod in Florence, SC. I have had various elderly relatives admitted on a monthly basis at McLeod in Florence, SC throughout this past year. I must say that the blatant lack of empathy, human kindness or compassion displayed by doctors, nurses and especially the "tech's" is truly a cause for alarm. The people of this community desire so much more than the completely uncaring, disregarding and outright disrespectful employees of McLeod. From the Emergency Room to the various hospital floors especially 8th floor and now we have also experienced the staff on the 3rd floor. The hospital doctors are there only to cover this facility to satisfy Insurance policy. These doctor have no regard for the well being of the patients or any human or moral respect for family members. Nurses follow the same path and techs might as well be non-existent because the majority of them are simply there to collect their pay checks. These "professionals" tend to forget that they too are human and so are those whom they love and care about. Mcleod needs to provide professional development training to their entire employee population on the meaning of customer service, human compassion and empathy for those suffering from illness and sickness. The entire staff is completely unkind, non-caring and many times, down right criminally incompetent. Hospital doctors fail to communicate with each other, the nurses and/or especially the patients and their families. Nurses don't want to be bothered and clearly do not have the expertise to dispense medications in a professional manner. And when the patient and/or family members have questions they become quickly annoid and rude. The techs on the other hand should not even bother to clock in. They consistently ignore requests from patients for changing, ADL's, or assistance to the bathroom. Patients go unwashed, soiled and lay in dirty bed linen for days and most times have to repeatedly beg staff for assistance. The floor are filthy, trash cans overflowing with soiled chucks which are left behind in patient rooms in open trash cans by the techs. Nurses come into room and stove pills, IV meds and shots on elderly patients without informing them of which meds are being given. When questioned they ignore patients or become rude. Hospital doctors are so busy trying to adhere to insurance company and hospital policies until they fail to act on behalf in the best interest of patients and the best care needed by each individual. Animals in slaughter houses receive better care than the patients at Mcleod on any given day of the week. This hospital needs to retrain ALL staff in ethics, human morality and holistic care for all patients. Patients should not be treated "routinely", but "individually" according to their healthcare needs. To add injury to insult they then have the nerve to charge insurance companies hundreds and thousands of dollars for subpar and often misdiagnosed treatments. There is NO CARE for the patients in this community. There is access, but NO access to quality healthcare for the people who are served by this facility. Word of advice to administration, retrain your staff and vet in your hiring practices.

Don't be inpatient on the weekends! Sucks! Daughter in terrible pain and nurses were always at least 1 hour to come check on you. Left sitting in chair for over 1 hour waiting for bed change and to be hooked back up to IV. Bled all over the bathroom floor and my sister had to clean it up. Horrible experience in room 1031

Save yourself time, effort, frustration, rage and ...

Save yourself time, effort, frustration, rage and more. If you are looking for quality care do not go to the Digestive Health facility here. I am sick and my life is suffering. My work is suffering, my family life is suffering, my sleep is suffering and my quality of life is terrible right now. Here is the process I have had to go through: I have an appointment, have to wait 1 week to get my results, have to wait 1 week for a follow up appointment for them to schedule another procedure that is a week out then a week for the results, a week for the follow up appointment. Do you see where I am going with this? I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me FOR MONTHS. The straw that broke the camels back today, I spent 5 MINUTES....FIVE MINUTES in the with Dr today just so he could tell me the same thing the nurse told me over the phone A WEEK AGO and for him to tell me he was going to schedule me a surgical consult. So now I have to pay $50 for an office visit for him to tell me the same thing the nurse told me over the phone. WHY?! could that not have been done a week ago when my test results came back AND NOW I have to wait another WEEK for my surgical consult. No compassion, caring, empathy or urgency for someone who is sick. My father was in the army we moved around a lot I've been to several hospitals, had several different doctors, nurses, admin staff but I have never been treated like they didn't care and like I didn't matter and like my health concern was no big deal. This place is just the worst.

This is the worst hospital to go to in SC. My sister went to see a doctor for her leg,and literally have been there for 9 hours without seeing a doctor. When you get to the back the nurses and doctors are on their cell phones, engaging in random conversations. Most of them act like they don't know their jobs or act like they are high on drugs. I absolutely hate going to this hospital. I regret using them as my go to for my delivery. If you need to see a reliable doctor please go to MUSC because you will be on a 12hr shift with the doctors and nurses if you go here.

If you have ever had to deal with the slack unprofessional staff in the sleep lab you can relate. Loud, yelling down the hall to each other. Paperwork missing. No organization. Don't introduce themselves or explain what they will be doing which is a violation of pt rights. Tell you to come back between 5 and 530 to get your family and they have not even got them up when you arrive. Very inconvenient to your time. They look like they are ready for bed when you arrive and like they just woke up when you return in the am. Awful. Obvious there is no oversite. Would not recommend.

On July102017, I was in a car accident, upon arriving taken straight to the waiting area where I tried to tell them it hurt to breathe and was in excruciating pain they paid me no attention although I kept telling them how bad it was needless to say I sat out there for 4hrs . Come to find out I had 9 broken ribs and both collar bones plus a fracture of my upper back. Compassion there are some that do but the ones in the er registration really suck !!

They have no compassion for any patients. My father is diabetic, in congested heart failure, high blood pressure..neuropathy so bad he can barely walk.
He developed a horrible ulcer on his foot. It took us days to get him to finally go and the ER doctor asked why he came in and wasted people's time!!!
We were in route to get to Florence from San Antonio TX or I would have tore the whole staff especially the doctor a new one

Worst hospital on the planet. I first went to thei...

Worst hospital on the planet. I first went to their little emergency clinic to try to get help, I get hives frequently so I asked since I was new to the area to call my doctor and to get what they do. After they got off the phone they COMPLETELY ignored everything my doctor said and gave me a different treatment which never works I tried to tell the but they did not listen to me. The next day I woke up and my hives were worse I called the emergency clinic back and THEY REFUSED TO SEE ME telling me to go to the hospital. I went there with an allergic reaction the day of my birthday and the nurse kept telling me I had no reason to be there because "nothing was wrong with me." Even though I was covered in hives. I just brushed it off because bad day sat there and relaxed as the IV drip did it's thing. I was on my way. Later that afternoon I ended up covered in hives for a third time but they were worse. I went back to the ER and asked what medications they gave me and they told me. It ended up being a medication I had REFUSED because I told them I was allergic to it. I walked back in and that same nurse was standing at the nurses station telling the others I was just there for drugs that there was nothing wrong with me. Mind you they rushed me back because the hives was on my face and my face was swelling, but no nothing was wrong with me. I called that next week and spoke to the administration and told them what happened they said that they would write my name and number down and they would get back to me. They never did. Then I called when I got my first bill talked to them again they promised to get back to me. I called in January they promised to get back to me. All times they told me not to worry about making payments on my bill that this matter would be taken care of. Now we're in February I still have not heard from them, and now my bill was sent to collections. I paid the bills to get them out of collections but I'm completely done with this hospital.

I have never written a review before while still in the process of receiving service. I arrived at the hospital today at 9:15am for my 9:30am appointment for a colonoscopy. It is now 12:35pm and i am still waiting for my procedure. I asked the staff for an estimate of how much longer I would wait and was told that they did not know. I used my extra time to write this review.

Last year, I had a colonoscopy performed in Charleston, SC and was efficiently in and out in 2 hours verses 4-5 hours (I hope) at McCloud.

UPDATE
I was just notified that I will be waiting another 2-3 hours. Waiting 5-6 hours beyond my appointment time leaves me frustrated and I feel that my time is not valued or respected.

Staff rude & not attentive. I was there 5 days. Bed linen changed once. Bath assistance or supplies never offered. Yelled at by nurses. Tech took blanket my husband was using, wrapped up in it & went to sleep on couch. Debit card stolen by staff member. All of this was reported but no action!

My wife and mother-in-law works there, but my favorite nurse is Ms. Bo. No one else could get me to take my meds while I was suffering from pneumonia due to aspiration from a surgery I had in Jacksonville, FL. She was firm and motherly till this day I still hold her in high regards. You Rock Ms. Bo

This is not the place you want to have a major surgery at. I have a story to share. I ll be back when I get it all together from the notes I was able to keep on my phone. But I m telling you this place must have gone downhill or something. Nursing staff and CNA staff need to be disciplined, many need to be fired! and they need to decide if this line of work is something they want to stick with because as it stands patients would be better off with new nurses rather than this sorry, lazy, whining, negligent bunch.

My wife received a service at McLeod and paid in full before leaving with the understanding at McLeod would file with BCBS SC. We have a receipt.
After many requests to file, McLeod filed showing that they had not been paid and raised the amount owed.
We have made many attempts, and McLoud will not file correctly with BCBS SC so the dollars we gave them do not show towards our deductible.
To make matters worse McLeod falsely claims that my wife saw an ER Doctor and was seen on multiple days.

I am presently siting in an ER room with the door closed and I can hear one of the staff members tell another patient's family member that he wasn't in the mood and that this is a free country do what he wants. What happened to the Excellent patient care that is posted up in these rooms? Isn't customer service and professionalism a part of that? Then after the verbiage, the staff member is continuing to loudly discuss the patient's family's member's bad attitude where anyone in the ER can hear him. Oh not to mention I've been here since 9:30 and it's now 3:15 and I STILL don't have a clue what's ailing me! NO ONE, Doctor, nurse, CNA, medic, has bothered to come tell me the results of a urine analysis or blood test, or the CT scan YET! Poor service, poor customer service, no professionalism!

When I went to McLeod Gastro, I was amazed that an office could be run so poorly. My appointment time was for 10:30, and I wasn t called to the second waiting room until after 11:30. I didn t see a doctor until 12:50! I think they forgot about me and two other patients. Or else they just don t care. Which is probably the case.

So I finally got back to see Wolford. At least I assume it was Dr Wolford. He didn t introduce himself. He didn t read a single previous test result I brought with me. He didn t ask me about diet or how I feel. He was very robotic and detached. He spent less than 5 minutes in the room with me.

He told me to sit tight and that he would be right back. About 10 minutes later, a nurse came for me and said he ordered a HIDA scan, which my primary physician ordered for me two months prior! If he had taken a minute to glance at my tests, he would ve seen that I recently had a HIDA scan!. I asked her why he didn t order a colonoscopy and endoscopy?!? I m over 40, a tobacco user, family history of colorectal cancer, and have never had a colonoscopy or endoscopy!!! Why didn t he order them?!?

So about that time I realized that something is very off with Dr Wolford and McLeod Gastroenterology.

Please, find another doctor! I did, and it probably saved my life!

John Wolford is criminally incompetent!

I went to MUSC and McLeod ER in Florence SC with my son my times and in the past, was treated nicely. However, recently I am dealing with rudeness and insensitive comments. Yesterday after seeing the eyes rolling from nurses and hearing "He's not my patient, I'm not dealing with this " God sent a compassionate young man to me. He said that things will work out in time, and told me to stay strong. What doesn't break you will make you stronger. I thank God for sending that young man just in time. We need more people like him in this world.

My husband Herman was a patient in the cancer center for a year and a half. He was always treated with respect and compassion. I can t say enough praises for this department. Not one time did we ever experience and person in a bad mood. The same goes for Mcleods Oncology office as well. They all made a very difficult situation a very pleasant experience. I have since loss my husband to his battle of Liver cancer. But I know he s not suffering any longer . I want to Thank McLeods for hiring the most compassionate staff I ve ever dealt with. I personally was in healthcare for over 45 yrs prior to my retirement. Thanks again

An exercise in futility. Wife admitted from another hospital and can't be found by any staff members. Combined with a phone switchboard runaround and a IDGAF attitude is beyond substandard.
This review in no way is to reflect upon the Doctors or medical staff at all. The poor admin alone.

I came from out of state to visit a family member. I am highly disappointed. To be such a huge and well-known facility, the housekeeping and maintenance is terrible. The parking deck elevator was dirty and stink with a wet floor. A major hazard. The restroom downstairs in the lobby/foyer was filthy with overflowing trash and no soap. Really? This is a hospital. It should be clean at all times. Ridiculous.

My Mother was in a triple rollover accident in Marion, and was taken to Marion Medical, not really sure why. I arrived 5 hours later, because I live 25 miles outside of Atlanta. It was obvious she was not receiving adequate care in Marion, and someone suggested McLeod as a trauma rated hospital, so I requested that she be transferred to McLeod. The difference in service and treatment was like being in a different country. I honestly believe McLeod Medical saved my Mothers life, because she was in dire shape after having been in Marion for 5 hours, with inadequate treatment. The staff, Drs and nurses, were wonderfully professional and the care of my Mother was first rate life saving. Thank you McLeod Medical for saving my Mothers life, I've never experienced better medical care!!
