Their driver red hair and red beard heavy build and abt 35 came over and kicked my def cover and broke it. Said i was in his way while i was waiting to get my vehicle weighted. I called their dispatch and another Caucasian dude said he's the only one there and refuse to take my complain and hung up. I called safety and he said his lady boss is at another site and wont be back until Friday and also showed lack of concern. How is this business even surviving. They are really arrogant and show prejudice. Very ignorant staff . Beware of doing business with these clowns

The dump drivers are reckless and dont care that they endanger lives. 70 mph on a two lane frontage road is ridiculous. I almost lost my life due to one of their careless drivers. I hope they close their doors and sell out soon.

In over 20 years of driving, this was one of the worst jobs I had. They will lie outright if necessary to get you in the seat. Regional goes all the way to New Jersey and home weekends is twisted to Saturday night or Sunday morning, for a reset. They boast about drop and hook freight, almost all of it is UNSECURED. I sent multiple messages to establish a record to prove it, load by load. The high pay mentioned is countered by HHG miles and routing.

Confusing place. Drove there almost 3 years.

Confusing place. Drove there almost 3 years.
Fair to good pay...after first year. (according to them I was one of their best drivers. No moving violations only 1 PSP point --no accidents ---no late deliveries that were my fault /sometimes equipment broke. )
In December 2018, Mcleod sent me a letter ---Outstanding. Driver Performance----
With a Bonus check almost $500. 5 days later they fired me. WHY?.... According to Information MCLEOD was forced to reveal by the court system...
During the last 7 month's I was there,at least 6 people called in to complain about my driving. IT DID NOT MATTER TO MCLEOD THAT EVERYONE OF THE CALLERS LIED ABOUT WHAT I WAS DOING...AND I WOULD TELL EVERY ONE OF THE LIARS THAT IF I COULD FIND THEM. BUT THEY HID..JUST LIKE COCKROACHES.
I did not do anything wrong.
They just fired me...even while telling me I am a very good professional driver and"Our customers seem to like you".
My dispatcher on multiple occasions even in writing..told me I was the best driver on his fleet...
THEN the ___strangest thing happened----
Mcleod wrote me to tell me I was eligible for rehire!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?????????

Your truck #4916 drives like a complete idiot!!! Was riding our bumper on a major highway at 65 mph and was putting his high beams on multiple time while in the right hand lane. Then when he finally passed us he swerved into our lane when he was beside us. Once he got past us he whipped back over in front of us and slammed his brakes on. And he continued riding the bumpers of all the vehicles in front of him as well as making very unsafe lane changes. He is going to cause a major accident. He is the kind of truck driver that makes us all look bad!!! Will also be calling the company to report this behavior.

Treatment of otr drivers is horrible! I was let go for wanting a truck that wasn't in the shop every week! Limited income because they expect you to start you day at 2pm and have no idea of the problem with finding parking. I wanted to make this company work but they made sure that it didn't. The only drivers they care about are the local drivers. I don't want my worst enemy working for this company! In 6 weeks i never reached 2400 miles. I drove 1300 in two days then spent 2 days in the shop.
They do everything in their power to destroy your life if you are not all about making the company rich! Stay away from here if you want to keep loving the job you do! The CEO, dispatch, HR, and safety have no idea what driving a truck is about! They all think that a computer knows everything!

I'm not sure if these people writing bad reviews are talking about the same company I work for. We all have our struggles no matter who we work for but I've found that you can't wait til the day you need to be home to tell them and expect to get there. This company has worked with me on everything I needed, given me decent miles, paid me a competitive wage and worked with me on home time. As an OTR driver, I've found McLeod to be a fair and decent company that can compete with any of them.

i have worked for mcleod for nearly two years and it is the best company ive ever worked for. and ive worked for quite a few in my lifetime. mcleod knows how to move freight. alot of good customers. almost everyone in the office has an attitude of what can they do for the driver. i stay out four to five weeks at a time and make good money. even after being here for nearly two years the recruiter i worked with to come on board still calls me from time to time to just check in and see how im doing along. nice company and i really do like driving here. i hear new incentives are coming to for safety and performance.

I have been with McLeod Express for almost 20 years!!! I started as a driver and then started in the office and worked my way up the later. They are all about our drivers and being fair to the drivers. If you have a problem contact Colt about it and he helps get it resolved. Everything is not always going to go the way you want it but sometimes you have to give things time to work!! Everything we do in life is a struggle and we have to do things that are not just what we want but we still have to give McLeod the same respect as they gave you when they brought you on board!!

Saftey was alerted to a driver with inoperable taillights... an hour later the driver is still running and putting people onto the shoulder when he brakes hard on i70 around 1100 6/4/2020 trailer 19S537.

Obviously driver doesn't care and saftey has no power over their drivers.

McLeod is a fair and decent company. They're rather strict on safety but the rest is rather laid back. My dispatch at the time was Anna and while most had problems with her, she would always call me back or try to get me something I wanted as far as destination. Word to the wise, this is a Midwest company that makes it's money in the Midwest. You'll constantly be doing round trips from Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and back. They'll mix it up with Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. You'll get your Southern States and sometimes even West Coast but it's few and far between. When I wanted home, they'd have me a load headed for Atlanta or North GA. Deadhead miles are a major with this company but they will pay you the same as loaded so take that for what it is. Your runs might be 300-400 on average but you'll never really sit unless it's literally a Saturday when you finish and Jay on night shift has nothing else to give. They run a lot of P&G, Kimberly Clark and Grocery loads. They relatively don't give loads that are "Pick up at 7AM on the dot" just to drive 300 miles and sit until "Tomorrow at 10PM". If you sit, they compensate. Their detention pay is rather appropriate compared to other companies. Their equipment is nice, well maintained, only down side is, Collision Avoidance. A lot of drivers believe it's okay, others not so much. If you have no experience with them, you can decide for yourself. All in all, I was fired for a "Unsatisfactory Safety Record" but I wouldn't hesitate to send folks to them because they treat you fair and pay you the same.

They lie and cheat you. A lot! They purposely stiff you on miles and trips so you can't get the safety bonus. The dispatcher we had Stephanie never answered any questions we had either by messaging through the log book or by phone when we were desperate. Oh! And I hope you don't plan on ever quitting either because they left us stranded 11 hours from home and essentially told us to get bent. The owner and his son are nice people. But that's all the company has going for it. There are better companies. I know Swift has a reputation, but even they pay better than McLeod. Find something else, this place is not worth it. Does not even deserve the star I have to give to post this.

The only problem I had was getting miles. Averaged about 2400 a week as an OTR driver. After deductions I was making the money I wanted too. All that said I went to another company's orientatin and they straight lied to me about starting pay, so I'm going back to McLeod. 50 cents mile is hard to beat I guess
