McLeod is a fair and decent company. They're rather strict on safety but the rest is rather laid back. My dispatch at the time was Anna and while most had problems with her, she would always call me back or try to get me something I wanted as far as destination. Word to the wise, this is a Midwest company that makes it's money in the Midwest. You'll constantly be doing round trips from Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and back. They'll mix it up with Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. You'll get your Southern States and sometimes even West Coast but it's few and far between. When I wanted home, they'd have me a load headed for Atlanta or North GA. Deadhead miles are a major with this company but they will pay you the same as loaded so take that for what it is. Your runs might be 300-400 on average but you'll never really sit unless it's literally a Saturday when you finish and Jay on night shift has nothing else to give. They run a lot of P&G, Kimberly Clark and Grocery loads. They relatively don't give loads that are "Pick up at 7AM on the dot" just to drive 300 miles and sit until "Tomorrow at 10PM". If you sit, they compensate. Their detention pay is rather appropriate compared to other companies. Their equipment is nice, well maintained, only down side is, Collision Avoidance. A lot of drivers believe it's okay, others not so much. If you have no experience with them, you can decide for yourself. All in all, I was fired for a "Unsatisfactory Safety Record" but I wouldn't hesitate to send folks to them because they treat you fair and pay you the same.
