McLaren Lapeer Region Reviews

Let me start off saying the reviews scared the heck outta me. This past Saturday I had to take my sister to the Er and since im new to the area I really had no idea where to go. Well I took a chance on McLaren and I'm so glad I did.
We arrived around 7pm Saturday night and was whisked off to a room right away.. She had an IV started and testing started within 30mins of arriving. The staff was AMAZING and answered all our crazy questions and concerns without making us feel like we were wasting their time. She has an infection that they treated and sent us on the way. In and out in 4hrs. (Took 3hrs to run antibiotics through IV)
I will be returning whenever I need emergency care. Thank you staff for a "great" experience on such a rough night for my sister.

Had a family member go in ER for having vivid auditory and visual hallucinations. He was having full blown panic attacks and needed to be admitted for 24 hours for observation and they discharger him. He was very mentally distressed and was given some vitamins and turned away. This hospital has a psych ward and coule have easily kept him to make sure he was alright.... Doctors were not very curtious and didn't attend to his mental health needs with much compassion at all.... I recommend Hurley in Flint as a alternate.

I delivered my son here almost 2 years ago & absolutly loved how clean & spacious the room was. The view of the geese flying into the pond across the street at the walking park was amazing, & so was most of the staff. There were these two that would come in there with this attitude, treating me & my ex husband like we should know what we're doing, and talking to us in a condescending tone when they had to take time out of their oh so busy schedules to teach us or explain to us how to care for our newborn, or what kind of care was given to our newborn. It was a stressful & emotional time for us because we had already had some difficulties with the baby and I during delivery & were first time parents without a clue. All the other nurses were patient, understanding, had alot of good advice, were gentle, kind, and very friendly. When I go up there this time for the birth of my next one I hope to have just the nice nurses. Knowing my luck I won't though. Overall I loved their birthing center.

Staff running around with no mask. When I said something to one of the nurses the atmosphere changed from nice to nasty. Frontline Heroes more like zeroes. They are spreading Covid 19. I have photos of the no masks medical staff.

Mai, our nurse, was rude and inconsiderate the entire time we were there. She talked over us and was pushy. She said she had worked their for over 18 years, I'm not sure that would be possible if the rest of the staff and administration had any sense of class or decency. Waited for over 5 hours to see a doctor, then as I decided to walk out and try another hospital, the doctor decided to run down the hall and see me. Waste of time, would rather drive to Hurley in flint or Beaumont in troy than waste time here

If you have an emergency and can't make it elsewhere then the hospital is good. The staff can be hit or miss but most are nice.

My husband went here Sunday and Monday. Was sent home both times. And then and hour drive away. Got to that hospital and got admitted and the surgery he needed. You people could have killed him. I will never take one of my loved ones there again.

How many bad review does it take to change. I too had a bad experience in the ER. While it was a long time ago, I still have nightmares. This hospital doesn't deserve any stars!!!!

I went there for the same problem I had before. Last time I was treated good tonight they wanted me in and out! Didn't even check my blood for infection. Did nothing and probably made a ton of money off it. This is the second time I've had problems with this Dr in the 2 years I lived here! Something need to be done. Dr Kirk down does not do his job!! Just writes scripts! Last time I received an IV with antibiotics,blood work! What I have is serious. He wrote on my discharge papers that I was in here for something totally different. Slacking because its the holiday weekend and he's got to work? Absolutely! To McLaren I'd like a call or I'll be calling you.Then to top it off the cleaning lady comes in and tells me I need to hurry and get dressed so she can clean the room...that was the icing on the cake. I asked to speak to a higher up. She said that's how the Dr felt he should treat you...ha he didn't even touch me or take my blood or my cup of piss. I have it to show whom ever I speak to on Tuesday about how I was treated in this hospital. Next time I will drive all the way to Flint and use Hurley hospital! I will be getting a second opinion and if this Dr diagnosed me wrong you will have a law suit on your hands! I can't wait. You need a whole new staff. So my Dr didn't do his job, the mgr didn't do her job and the cleaning lady needs a new job!!! I'm so angry and I will be following up with a real Dr that actually treats you properly! Then I'll persue with medical malpractice! I do not recommend this hospital at all. The only reason I go here is because it's closer than flint . Never again,I suggest you don't go here either. The staff is completely rude and don't do their job!!! Dr. Kirk Down is a joke..I pray no one has to see him.This facility need to be shut down.

The nurses never come when your light is on, and when you ask why, they are so so rude!

I took my 4 year old daughter who was bleeding horribly from her mouth. They sent her home with antibiotics saying her new crown on her tooth was infected. Never treated nor attempted to stop the bleeding. Rushed her to the dentist as soon as they opened and they could not believe the hospital allowed her to leave nor did anything for her bleeding from her gums. The dentist couldn t believe how much she was bleeding and that no one did anything there to help her. I will never take my children there again.

They don't care for their patients and are completely unprofessional to patients and their families. My step father came to be treated for a serious infection and he has been acting not normal and the doctors and nurses are not treated him and refuses to help

I went in because I believed the kidney stone I had was stuck. Was told it would pass, and they didn't care about anything I had to say. They just it said it would pass with in an hour. Well guess what 3 days later in the most amount of pain I have ever felt in my life I ended up back in the ER this time in Pontiac being told I had an infection in my kidney and the stone was completely stuck. Terrible care, they are more likely to kill you then anything.

I took my boyfriend early this a.m to the ER part. Never gave him a patient file and no discharge papers only a note for work. Doctor told him he would call or fax his prescription to his pharmacy. Well it never happened and when I called to have it refaxed over the lady on the line was so rude and her exact words were ugh I guess I ll refax it over so I called back over to the pharmacy a couple hours later to see if lady refaxed it and nope she never did. Never will I go there again.

All the nurse's, aids, cleaning staff ,x-ray ,food service were all so polite to me bless you guys you all took very good me. Social service's refused to help me and i continue to be abused by landlord negligence and are allowed to continue to break the law and thats what happens when these people at dhs get paid if they do thier job or not! They do not care about the disabled seniors in our state,just look at that little boy who died all alone in an apt in Detroit when his mom was in a mental hospital what a horrible death that little boy had caused by everyone at the dhs, how do you people sleep at night probly drunk out of your minds.

My mother was given 3 pints of blood AFTER SIGNING THE PAPER THAT SHE REFUSED BLOOD. She was there to allow herself to die comfortably but they did not respect her wishes. So now she is living with 2 elderly daughters, back and forth between us at 2 week intervals......nearly helpless when we are nearly helpless ourselves. Your wish will not necessarily be granted at this place. Drive on by if you want to be heard.

This hospital is a joke I stayed for a full 7 days back in 2013 because I had N1H1 it took them 3 tries and sent me home every time. Finally on the 4th visit they took in me and couldn't figure out what to do. After the 2nd with iv's in good one of the doctors said hey he is dry as a bone and pushed 200 cc of fluids in me I swelled up like a bubble. Don't go to this hospital!!!

Labor & Delivery "Birthing center". The most amazing and respectful staff. The nurses are amazing and more than helpful. They are the best people I have ever encountered. Except Dr. Daly.... attitude and bedside manners of a chucky doll, withdrawing from snake venom. YIKES!

I wouldn't go here even if I was carrying in my own severed head! This place is horrible, dirty and the staff is to busy talking and playing around to do their job! Drive to the next closest hospital you will regret going here!

I will never be coming back to Lapeer hospital, I was In severe pain due to a UTI that never went away, they never offered to give me pain medication and when I asked and told them what I can take without getting sick, the nurse brought back a medication that I can not take after I already told her what I was allergic, had I not been paying attention to ask what she's giving me I would have been in serious trouble from an allergic reaction. Very poor service and negligent. Will be telling everyone I know.

By far the slowest hospital I ve ever gone to. Watched three people leave because they couldn t wait any longer. I was in the waiting room for two hours, and still haven t been called back. I walked in the doors at 5:22 and it s 7:29 now.

Well I ve been to this hospital several times!!! Emergency unit is really really terrible ! They beg you for your pee and your piss and half the time they don t test it ! I had a nurse one time grab me by my arm and literally walk me t the bathroom and tell me sit there til you have to pee. Like if I don t have to pee I don t have to go! Lol these people are so rude! Dr down is terrible! The only good working unit there is the psych unit and people in the operation room and everyone who helps in pre op. The second floor and first floor people are clueless as to what they are doing. But the behavioral health unit is very very awesome! People are polite and get stuff done and that floor is 2 south! I was in there one time for pneumonia and I had to literally walk out and leave because the Iv machine kept beeping every two minutes like can you shut the sound off ? I got no sleep there when I stayed on the second floor it was really a waste of my time and then the nurse told me after I told him I was leaving he s like oh you re going to die and the next evening I went to Hurley hospital in flint and the er doctor said you re pneumonia is gone there s nothing there! Okay so lapeer hospital lied to me. I even had a friend who was there two days before she passed and she had a heart attack at home. Like why didn t you idiots see this on her blood pressure or heart machine while she was in the hospital?

Nurses are a 10 doctors well they think there time is more inportant 2 hours to check out and we just signed outselves out but all the caring nursesare worth it

I will never go to this hospital again. Worst experience ever. I arrived at 9:45pm with chest pains and shortness of breath. I visited an urgent care in another county on Tuesday for the same thing and they told me to go to an ER if it gets worse. So this is what brought me in to this hospital. I waited for 5 hours patiently and was never seen. I then asked billing how I could make a complaint about my experience since I could no longer wait. She called the housing nurse down. This lady told me even with chest pains, my age makes me low priority. I then told her that wasn t a good enough excuse and just to give me back the papers I gave the triage nurse earlier so I could leave since I was having a really hard time breathing. She then proceeded to argue with me that I was breathing just fine because of the way I was talking to her. I eventually got my papers and was gasping for air by the time I reached my car. I understand this is not a first come first service hospital and I am fine with that but what makes it ok for someone to say oh she s 29 so her chest pains and shortness of breath is not important. My symptoms can be serious at any age. Like I said me or my family will never be back for any reason at all.

My mom came in yesterday at noon and it has been a horrible experience she has talked to three doctors for about 1 or 2 minuets each and everyone has been very rude!! If I could it would be a 0 start ........will never come back to this hospital if it s up to me. The only good service they have is the food and nutrition they were the only ones how were nice and night shift nurses.

I was treated at McLaren, Lapeer in November when I suddenly found out I had A-Fib. Everyone was wonderful from the ER staff to the nurses and doctors who took care of me once I was admitted.

I have never been to the ER before and never have been in such pain before either. I'm 26 and look young but was treated so kindly but everyone. Ended up needing a surgery and stayed for a few nights. Its a fantasy to think an emergency facility will absolutley blow your socks off in service with perfect everything - people are not perfect, but I am verry pleased with the service provided.

My dad has been a patient there for a week now and the third floor nursing staff on 3/28/17 were very rude to my mother. She was leaving the hospital and my dads (male) nurse ask my mom if she was leaving and then proceeded to make fun of her, which he got all of the other nursing staff to get involved in. The nurse aide was the only one to tell them to stop. If this is the kind of people this hospital employs I would rather go somewhere else. I would not have gave this hospital a star but yuo have to mark one of them to be able to post.

So other than Mclarens already not so great reputation I ll say I m still not impressed I brought my daughter here for an ultrasound
And they charge 278$ right up front I ask about this cost and whether or not this covers my visit in full and I get oh i don t know this price may go up or down when we hear from your insurance? Really you don t know?
I ve worked in the medical field I would never want to be so uninformed that when it comes to charging someone I m going to answer I don t know it may go up or down not only should you have answers especially when you are billing a patient but all of my info was sent to them and is on file 2 weeks prior setting up the appointment this is unprofessional and completely shady if you ask me...
I simply never received any update what so ever regarding this I even followed up with the hr that left the automated message below but never heard anything else from them as that is also jusy for show
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place its frightening how incompetent they are.

I arrived at the er at 6pm I have 2 herniated disc s and 2 bulging disc s in my neck my pain level was an 8 I sat for two hours and I m still waiting no one even came to check on me and I watched 3 people walk right through this is the worst hospital to come too I would recommend going to a different hospital if possible there short and don t seem to care I will never return to this place next time I ll drive to Beaumont in Rochester it s a better hospital anyway

Had not so pleasant experiences years ago, but things must have changed because both times I have came to the ER (once admitted) I recieved compassion and diligent care!

Horrible staff, always rude and detrimental to the patients well being. Constant and dangerous misdiagnosis. Never had a good experience, never heard of a good experience. You will be judged by your age and appearance the moment you step into ER rather than listened and compassionately attended to.

I had a complaint with Lapeer Mclaren Hospital over a billing charge! I was charged 12,000 dollars in just hospital charges to sit in triage after a dizzy spell. Even tho I am appalled at the charges, I am VERY grateful to Jan Nixon in her professionalism in taking my compliant. I will be happy to remove my compliant and offer my sincerest apology if this matter is resolved!
With that said, Those with private insurance, please be aware that Lapeer doesn't have many on staff specialist and often "outsources" their specialist to groups like "Inpatient consultants of Michigan and Lapeer Neurology". Be prepared to get additional bills on top of what Mclaren Lapeer charges.

I took my daughter to hospital in Lapeer for a very bad kidney infection..all they did was a urine test..she had a fever and bad pain..they let her sit there for a hour with out the doctor seeing her..I ask the nurse what's taking soo long and said we have been busy all week,but what does it mean..they weren't busy now maybee five people in the ER..no IV nothing..they came in 20 min later a gave her tyenol..I said is her urine back they said me NO..we are there 2 hrs and no urine back they have it first when we got there.. I said wow then I went to see Dr down and he was rocking in chair laughing with a nurse and he said I working on someone else.so I went back to the room.my daughter was crying she hurting really bad..I said we are not comeing back here..so the Dr came in and said you a very bad kidney infection here keflex and go home..see you pc in three days after the holidays..there nothing we can do for her..wow we're did the Dr go that care for patience..it not are fault that Dr give to many pain meds out that it came to this ..that doctor don't care anymore!! Bad hospital..

Horrible place, I had a hysterectomy and after they told me I would have my own room they put me in a room with a lady that when she sat up an alarm would go blaring in my ear. This went on all night after my major surgery so I got no rest and in the morning I had a terrible head ace and soar throat. The next night started the same way so I wheeled myself out in the hall and told the nurses I could not do this another night. Luckily they took her for a bit so I got a couple hours of sleep. Why would you ever put a person that just had major surgery with somone with a blaring alarm. So unprofessional.

Great hospital great staff ...the ER staff were amazing and took great care of my mom and saved her life!!

This hospital is just in it to make a $$$. The ER dr pretty much contridicted himself the whole time. Went in with an obvious tore rotator cuff and they gave a me a xray, pain relief and sent me on my way in under 3 hours. Instead of just treating the problem. Out of the 10 times i have gone here i have had only 2 good experiences. I probably should have read the majority of the reviews. This hospital has been known in the area. To bad, i have learned my leason and will never use any mclaren lapeer services. It is a shame as some of their staff do care and have voiced this in the hallways. #neveragainmclarenlapeer

I made the mistake of going to this facility and I am still suffering the consequences of that decision 2 years later. Delayed treatments, and botched surgeries along with falsified documents was my particular experience. Definitely a hospital that bites off more than it can chew when it comes to more than an a minor injury. Got a lot of free gas cards and gift cards to shut me up. They even redid a protocol that was not previously in place. People beware protect yourself, document everthing.

This place ia slow been here over an housr now herd all the nurses and doctors talk about everyother room but ours havent even seen a singke persince 6g50 pm and its now 8:37 yea it mabe be busy but still can have someone drop in and his urne sample is still sitting here

Every one from Er to being inpatient for several days, Nurses, Dr's, CNA'S housekeeping, Dietary were great and caring.

This hospital and staff are amazing! I am here recovering from a hysterectomy and have had a wonderful experience. All the nurses and aides are very attentive and are here in a moment if I call . It's hard being away from your family when you are in the hospital but they make your stay here wonderful.

I have had extremely positive experiences with Doctors, Nurses, Billing, Transport and everyone!

Very unsatisfied. Not sanitary, unprofessional and rude. would never go back again..

I came in due to a infected toe, I waited for half an hour before being seen them when I was all they did was poke it and almost cut the infected part off but told me to see a specialist and sent me home with a $457 bill which I presented my insurance to them and they said right to my face I was covered but later that month I got a bill in the mail saying since they didn't send enough info to my insurance the bill defaulted onto me, this happened in November and I've called multiple times and every time the same response I get is "don't worry its taken care of you won't get another bill" 4 months later (today) I get a bill double the original. I just finished school last January and currently still am looking for a job I can't afford to pay nearly $1000 because either someone lied to me or the staff is too stupid to send the right info or read and tell me I'm not covered.
What a joke this hospital only cares about money and not helping people

I would give this hospital zero stars but you HAVE to give one star. Worst hospital I have ever been to. Much worse now that McLaren bought it. Nurses and staff are rude and unorganized. They almost killed me twice!! Do not go to a McLaren. They are junk.

I am not Craig. See you are even mixing up patient's on here. My family and I will not use ANY McLaren anything ever again. That includes ALL the facilities this organization is buying up in a monopoly to own it all. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is no different for a hospital that just cuts people up and don't care about if they should ACTUALLY be cutting on that person or not. Terrible place BOTH times I was there. Surgery I didn't need!!! The problem I came for...still have it. Lost my job too because I was off work due to your screw up. Now I'm losing my home and etc.

I wouldn t take my worst enemy to this hospital. They can t find a vein to take blood sample, they run tests incorrectly and have to do and redo them. When I gave birth it took them 48 hours to finally send him to a more qualified hospital because it took them forever to diagnose the life-threatening issue. Their staff is rude, the area is never clean and their billing will get screwed up for months. They billed the wrong insurance, and despite me calling, leaving messages, having my insurance company leaving messages they still sent a false claim to Collections and screwed up my credit for months before finally ceasing their false claim. Bunch of idiots. They are not a good hospital!

This hospital is one of the most unprofessional and ignorant hospitals I've ever been to. I have come here several times to be treated for various problems and they have done absolutely nothing but theoretically thrown a bandaid on my medical problem. I know several people in my family who have put their trust in this hospital and been let down. Take my word for it, you're better off going to Hurley. The staff in this hospital is atrocious. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! I am very very disappointed with the effort this hospital lacks. It's very discouraging when you can't trust your hospital to take care of you. The staff treats you like you're just another body in the building. The wait time after you get in a room is ridiculously long. I have not been seen by ONE thorough doctor. They just want to get you in, and get you out! You are not treated with sincerity and there is a serious lack of compassion. I've been told several times that I would be receiving something for my medical problem and then the nurse or doctor completely forgot about it. Like I said, the doctors practically slap a band aid on your wounded knee and discharge you without any compassion or patience whatsoever. I'm furious! My husband came in this evening because he had hurt his foot terribly at work. Luckily, nothing was broken, just sprained. The doctors solution to this problem was a sprint and nothing else. It's just ridiculous. You have to deal with pain because apparently Tylenol 3's aren't in style anymore. I don't request strong opiates for my problems; (I had a spinal fusion and I have Crohn's/Colitis disease) I just want to know that I'm secure in this hospital if I am in severe pain, and I have been disappointed multiple times. Rant over.

I just got here 40 minutes ago and I'm already aggravated and about to leave. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I came here due to cramping and back pain. The ER sent me up to labor and delivery and the women sitting at the desk was extremely rude while asking me my information. I feel extremely uncomfortable since they wouldn't let my daughter or mother come back. Ive been sitting in my room in a gown for a good 25 minutes and still no one has came to assist. I should of read all these reviews before even wasting my time coming here. NEVER AGAIN.
UPDATE: I left the hospital to go elsewhere. That place is an absolute joke. I was literally the only patient on that floor and it took them til I said I was leaving for them to come to the exam room. If you or anyone you know is expecting and delivering there I suggest you rethink your options. And no I will not call you guys to discuss this further. I'm clearly not the only one who thinks this place is trash.

By far the worst hospital that anyone could possibly go to,staff is EXTREMELY RUDE and SLOW if you ask them anything they act like its an inconvenience or that they're just too busy when all you see them doing is talking n standing around,then they even stuck us in a room that was clearly for a mentally disturbed person since the window was completely blocked off with a steel pull down curtain,no door handle on the inside and the tv was in a protective case, also theres a camera up in the corner while my girlfriend is to get undressed ,then they just left us in this jail cell basically since it was no bigger than that and definitely looked like one for well over 3 hrs and they wonder why you're so upset it doesn't take a genius to figure it out ,so if you're seriously injured or dying even just keep going on to the next hospital, COMPLETELY REDICOLUS,oh and to top it off my girlfriend was in there 48 hrs prior to this and gave a urine sample they never said anything about it well 2 days later they tell her she has a urinary tract infection even tho no pain or anything when she goes so they said she has be on an antibiotic sounds to me like they just want more money, so thanks for a complete waste of our time.

I was in this hospital for 6 days and all but one nurse were great, They seemed to truly care but it took 3 days to get the shower fixed, i used wipes on my last day there before the shower was fixed, I have only one nurse that screwed me over. I would like to talk to somebody about that incident. I was on the third floor and want to say thank you to all the nurses, aids and doctors minus the one nurse.
