We held our daughters 21st dinner and dance at McHughs of Cheltenham, Saturday 1st June. What an amazing team. The venue was just magical and the food delicious. From Raj our venue manager through to James our event manager the service was brilliant, catering to our every need even providing great tips re decor. Thank you so much for helping us make our Daughter's 21st a beautiful success. I would definitely recommend your venue to friends and family. From the Tully family of Hawkes Bay

The service for our table & the bar was great, but the food kept running out which was disappointing

Well with a visit and great food. Incredible view of the ocean and Rangitoto Island. I could sit there all day!
You need to book as it does get busy on weekends. Fab friendly staff and prices are reasonable too.

Excellent views of Rangitoto. Located right on the beach. Excellent service.

Lovely atmosphere, great views over the Rangitoto as well. The food was really good, and quite a bit of choice for a buffet.

We had my mum's 90th and everything was perfect. James and the team went beyond expectations and provided us with an unforgettable experience. Went here today for a delicious lunch. I am allergic to dairy, and the staff here catered to my allergy so well. I didn't ask them to, I'm usually really good at just picking food that I can tell is dairy free. However, they actually specifically made me a salad and dessert that didn't have dairy when I mentioned that I couldn't eat dairy. It was so accommodating and more than any other restaurant!
The food was superb and absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the pork.
The setting is gorgeous, and views are to die for, even on a rainy day.
The staff are all so friendly!
We are having our wedding here in 2021, and absolutely cannot wait. It will be wonderful.

Stuck in the 2000s. Needs to modernize. But beautiful place right on the water.

We cannot recommend McHugh's of Cheltenham as a wedding reception venue highly enough. Leading up to the day, communication was clear and prompt and on the day everything ran smoothly. We chose this venue after attending a wedding here last year and hearing such fabulous feedback from the family concerned. James and his team are to be congratulated for the service they provide - nothing is ever too much trouble and the food was delicious, well presented and there was plenty of choice.

Really awesome place to be on a hot summer day with nothing to fault....best place i have been in a while. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

There are plenty of options from chicken with creamy sauce, prawns, deep fried hoki fish, garlic beef, lamb curry and more. I think it's good value

Took my team from work for a Christmas lunch and it was ideal. Loved the location, great service and the buffet selection was great. Definitely a great option for group booking and the team all had a good time

We had our wedding reception here last December 2020 & It was the best ever choice we had in choosing Mchughs! James, the restaurant manager is very nice, easy going, down to earth, go an extra mile for us and cater all our needs from the very first meetup up until post wedding!. The guests really enjoyed the view and most especially the food, it was superB!, the desserts were spectacular,
not too sweet. James also allowed us to decorate the venue prior our day, so we will not be on a rush & yeah! Our wedding reception & program at Mchughs went very well as planned. Guests were really impressed! Thank you so much James & we will definetely be referring Mchughs to our friends and families. A++++++

Not a bad place. Great location and views. Good meal options and was tasty but just felt there would be more, especially when it came to dessert.

2 stars are for good view and good service; the buffet lunch is $40 per person, very over priced, very few dishes to choose.very dispointed. would rather go to a proper restaurant to have a 2 course or 3 course dish. not sure why charged us 40pp, while the website shows a cheaper price. anyway, not recommend for food.

Beautiful scenery, nice as its not to crowded. Good for groups reasonably priced for Devonport.
But no off street parking so need to arrive very early or park on side streets and walk.

We all enjoyed a beautiful meal with friendly staff and fantastic atmosphere overlooking Rangitoto Island and the shipping lane. It just couldn't be better. Thanks to all involved in making our day so memorable

We just had the pleasure of having our wedding at McHughs and from the very first contact made, they were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Wedding preparations can be stressful, but James and his team made things so easy. They supported us during the lead up and on the Big Day, they delivered exceptional service, absolutely lovely food and the most beautiful setting. We honestly couldn't have asked for better. A huge thank you McHughs...absolutely sensational work.

Sad to see a place once very good go down hill,waste of money eating there cold " HOT DISHES and the choice was limited very poor.

Great spot, right on the water edge overlooking the sea. These guys do an upmarket buffet style lunch, with one of the best baked Alaska i have had.

Came here for pre-Christmas work lunch. There wasn't a great variety of food choices especially on the dessert table and the food was quite bland. However, the location on Cheltenham beach is brilliant especially when the tide comes in.

Cheap and nasty... except it is NOT cheap... if you want to be treated as another number then this is the place for you, the views DO NOT make up for the terrible food and uninterested staff.

Very helpful pleasant gentalman took the booking and assured me of being able to have a table overlooking the beach.
The toilet was clean and fresh.
My husband enjoyed the soup and I had an absolute 'ball' choosing from many dishes offered for the main course.Of which I sampled a little of most of the dishs and I really loved all of them.So nice to have so much variety.
The deserts were all very tempting and all I tried were delicious.My husband very happy with all the food too.
We were able to purchase our favourite drink.
Everything was spotlessly clean,The waiter was charming and everyone was pleasant and very helpful.
A wonderful atmosphere and the most beautiful view.Full recommend.

I've been going to McHughs for many years. The restaurant has always been pristine. The food is excellent and is great value for money. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere is lovely and they have exceptional views of Rangitoto. I highly recommend to all.

What a beautiful place! Absolute stunner!
Had my wedding there on the 3rd December last year and the venue and setup was amazing. All the guests loved the place and the way it was presented by the McHughs staff. The food was just delicious, indian theme food, the guests couldn't stop admiring it. James the manager and the staff provided with a great service and actually made our special day Special! My husband and I had our wedding here on the 6th March, 2020. It was absolutely spectacular!!! James was so accommodating and incredibly flexible, he put us at ease with everything and made it so much easier with dropping things off and More

Great location with 180 degree sea views. Good buffet selection with an awesome creamy seafood chowder and selection of cooked meats and salads. The ham on the bone was cooked well. Recommended location you're sure to enjoy

We chose McHughs for our wedding reception, mainly because the amazing views meant that we wouldn't have to supply much in the way of decorating. We're so glad we did! James and the team were amazing, right through the process. They were very well organised, and went above and beyond on the day itself. Our guests commented positively on the venue, food and service all night. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Lovely views, friendly service. Classic buffet, good food. Meat was a little dry but had some medium cuts (not just well done). Little disappointed with dessert as it was clearly reused from another day/event - we were the first to the dessert table of the night and there were 3/4 and 1/2 platters.

Beautiful beach, good facilities and great catering

Great place for a formal party. The food was amazing and the view was stunning. The staff were also very friendly. The only con was another group acting as if they booked or owned the whole restaurant, including preformances and speeches... apart from that it was an enjoyable experience and the restaurant was only a short walk across a beach to some stunning views and war era tunnels and bunkers.

Great venue we had our wedding reception there. The restaurant manager was great very accommodating friendly and kind. The reservation manager wasn't as understanding to begin with (this is all during vivid times) on changing the total amount of guests. It took a bit of convincing as we lost 60 guests and had to reduce the spending etc. We managed to find a solution at the end but the experience of this shouldn't have been that hard. Aside from that the food and service at the restaurant was perfect. Thank you to restaurant manager for making our day special and for your understanding we really appreciate your assistance and patience. We will be back for lunch or dinner when we are back in town.

The experience was beautiful. Food was perfect, the waiters & waitresses were professional. Stunning views, very romantic. Great prices. A+ Highly recommended.

Has very nice views of all the islands in the bay. Can seat around 80 or so people.

Our experience at McHugh s is exceptionally great, starting with the friendly manager, James, who has been very kind and supportive while we set up the tables on the day before the wedding dinner. He s cool and makes people feel at ease.
The view of the water and the island from the restaurant is so charming.
There was a great selection of delicious food served by the friendly staff.
Everyone enjoyed the night!

Perfect, only thing wrong was the bar charge on drinks

Lovely views. We booked for a staff function with a fixed buffet menu which was good food and plenty to eat. Not sure what the atmosphere is like usually as it has a bit of an RSA "hall" feel but it seems popular.

Received a coupon off website. Food was beautiful and great staff. Views amazing.
