Technician is very talented. Very friendly and helpful.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff as well as a wide selection of instruments for both novice and experienced musicians
Went in to get help with microphones and other equipment. The guy I talked to pretty much blew me off and just wanted me to go to a website. Said he didn't know much about microphones and neither did anyone else. Ummm you're a music store and the best your employees can do is send me to a website? I'll go somewhere else for my music needs.
I have never been made to feel that I was such a burden as a consumer in my life as I did today. I went in to seek guidance and to get things needed for my sons instrument, I was aware that they did not specialize in the instrument that my son played. I encountered an employee that was rude and disrespectful and made me feel that i was bothering him. A true music professional would have provided guidance with a referral to someone or at least respect for a customer. Regardless the money i was saving for my husbands guitar this Christmas will be purchased elsewhere. They do not deserve the 1 star I was forced to put on here to be able to post this
Friendly staff but couldn't find the equipment I was looking for.
great staff, knowledgeable, I've been a customer since 85', still got love for ya...
The store is great for guitar and drums, I was looking for a violin, the one I wanted was not there but a good place for musical instruments in Lafayette!
Great group! Very helpful and patient. Approached me right when I got there and answered all my questions.
I wish there was a way to make it a neg 5. The customer service is horrible...for being a small business you would think they would care about customers... i literally had a employee tell me who cares about being American... no American should spend their money here
You can find lots of stuff here for your music needs. If you need quick strings for your guitar. They also string and tune for you for a price if you're new or don't like doing it yourself. Free tip, you might find better deals online at Sweetwater and get it delivered to your house.
Many thanks to Russel and the Gents working today!! It's the best my Baby has ever sounded!!!
I had an excellent experience with the staff, they are well mannered and very helpful. However, I would argue that they are a little to pricey.
They sell instrument and mic cables, adaptors, guitar stings, and a few other items at 20-30% more than the other shops in town. Klaverega downtown sells their strings for buy one get one free! And their instrument cables are custom made, still with low prices.
I realize people have to make money, but something's gotta give.
Limited selection but very friendly staff. I almost always end up in there longer than planned due to getting into conversations with someone. Guitar strings, picks, amps, microphones, stands, drums, etc...
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair prices. If they don't have what ya want, they can probably get it for you in a few short days.
Don't come in here often and when I do, it is to buy strings for my violin so I don't have to deal with the snobby people down the street at Quinlan and Fabish. They are super friendly and were very helpful when I went in a few months ago to inquire about guitar lessons. Very chill atmosphere and overall a pleasant place to be in.
The staff is extremely pretentious. I know I spoke with BJ on the phone. I have bought strings and sticks from them for years. I called to ask questions about what their guitar lessons were like and how they were structured as I am looking for something specific. I asked about note reading and improvisation skills. He was extremely curt with his responses. I asked him if he was being rude on purpose. He stated yes because my questions were very basic. Apparently asking questions before you make a purchase is not acceptable. I found an excellent online instructor that is goal oriented and willing to work with me on a lesson plan and my needs. Do not waste your time and money at this store. Find someone who will work with you that will help make you the guitar player you want to be if you are serious about it.
Poor customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone just starting out in music. Over priced inventory as well.
Best music store in the greater Lafayette area. Prices are even competitive with Amazon.
I love this store! As a New Jersey resident and Guitar enthusiast, I would highly recommend this store. The variety of guitars is PERFECT although I do wish they had a bit more in stock. They seem a bit overloaded with Squier s when the could probably use a bit more variety in those low-mid range priced guitars. Otherwise this is truly a great place to stop to check out some new gear or just re-up on picks or strings! Love it out here, hail Purdue!!! (P.S. just bought a Rhoads signature from here and they adjusted the truss rod for me before I walked out, thanks guys! She s a gem!)
We got kicked out.. google said they were open til 8 and we got there at 6:45. The door was unlocked and we were browsing when someone came and followed us until we left.
My son goes here for guitar lessons and enjoys them greatly. The staff ate friendly and forthright. I had them work on two acoustic guitars and asked about my dubec. They offered honest answers and charged modest rates. I cannot speak to the cost of the instruments themselves
Great staff, very helpful, great instructors, great stock. Love coming here to buy instruments or just check out gear
Great selection, some awesome vintage pieces. Staff was very helpful. They have metal thumb picks!
Good guitar shop for what it is, small town feel. You get to know the staff which is nice because you don't get that experience in big box stores such as guitar center. The down side is the selection is limited, for example they don't carry very many replacement parts good store I go once or twice a month for nearly 15 years now, so they doing something right .
I was about to buy something. I asked the seller a question. He was very rude, so I left. I can only imagine how they treat customers that are just browsing.
Great service. I always get answers about the instrument I'm after. When it comes to a teen shifting instruments, there is one salesperson in particular who won't let me down
Fantastic music teachers, super knowledgeable and friendly staff, reasonable prices, great selection, retro vibe.
Awsome staff and they do excellent work in guitars.
Ive been going there for 30 years, since a teenager and have bought all kinds of stuff. Went in there today because i was in a pinch. I needed 3 quick connections soldered. Told him the 30 years and in a pinch. No other customers. None, just me. He said his tech would have to look at it and i would have to leave it. Unbelivable....... it would take 10 minutes tops. Done with them
I have been going here for years. But today i will never go back. This is by far the worse place in town to shop... the service sucks. I was asked to wear a mask. I have breathing problems. But i went out and got my mask. But i no longer wanted to buy the guitar i was going to buy. I instead would still spend money with them on strings.. but instead they refused me strings because i wouldnt buy the guitar ... go to dons. He is all ways awsome. And cheaper ..
Such a feeling of opportunity here. For a relatively small space, it's not a big box store, it's packed with quality instruments, gear, and accessories with knowledgeable staff happy to help or let you browse at your own speed.
Awesome place, great prices, and nice knowledgeable people.
Replaced my pickup switch very quickly and even made sure it wasn't another issue. Very fair price too.
Friendly service, knowledgeable staff. Had several guitars set up/ restrung here. Quick turnaround time and they do a great job. Nice little shop and they have some great prices on used equipment
They would all rather sit in a circle jerk and complain about guitar saddles. Walking in there with the intent to purchase a guitar amp and cords, I walked out learning that it is more of a wanna be hippy frat boy hangout.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Couldn't ask for more.
I have had a great experience of this place. I had my 1st lesson today. I'm excited to come back for my next lesson. Awesome experience working with the staff to find me the right instrument for me.
We got what we needed but atmosphere was not very happy/energetic.
staff can sometimes seem standoffish and arrogant. they definitely act as if they are the only store in town. Overall the shop is alright but needs more of a selection of amps and bass. it features a good selection of fenders though, but not much else.
Walked in and was greeted right away and was helped with my purchase. The young man I spoke to knew exactly what I needed.
They had the item I was looking for and the price was decent.
kinda expensive, but its the only local place I can get get drum sticks.
Made time to help me on a busy Saturday afternoon - VERY friendly and helpful! Thank you!!
3 generations in my family have shopped here for quality instruments.
Don't even waste your time here. Sells a $12 drumhead for $30. I would drive to Indy, Chicago, or Atlanta before I would come back here!
Have had mixed experiences here. Small shop with decent amount of merchandise to offer. Some staff have been super helpful in the past. Others have acted like surly teenagers who dread giving any advice regarding their product selection. No one in the middle really either really helpful or complete jerks.
There's a review below that says they sometimes seem standoffish and arrogant. I'd completely agree. Those are the jerks. Hopefully you come on a day when the super helpful staff are working.
Super service and staff they treat you like family. Ask any questions and they take the time to explain everything in detail. 10 stars
Great local music store, awesome staff and great atmosphere. I would buy exclusively from here if they had a more diverse selection of instrument brands, but a small local store can only carry so much. They can get you anything from the brand's they do carry, and also have a few jems from time to time on consignment. Definitely worth checking out.
Very helpful and if they don't have what you need, they will order it for you
We went there last night. To watch a employee treat a disabled veteran horribly. Never again will we spend our money with them
Super friendly staff whom helped me understand things about my guitar
I have been in several times and the staff is extremely knowledgable on whatever your needs are. I can say I am going to return in the future.
Very welcoming and kind. Helped string my violin for free.
These talented musicians are incredible to work with, very happy with the service we receive from purchasing equipment to private lessons.
Prices were surprisingly low so I was satisfied with that. Wanted to purchase a guitar for my boy but was not greeted nor asked if I needed assistance in my 20 minutes of browsing.
Cool, old school, mom and pop music store! Ok selection of decent used gear, prices are fair.
Small selection of overpriced gear. They are basically the only music store in town, and they act like it. Will travel to Indy or Chicago next time
My Grandson Ryan takes guitar lessons here, and it has made such a positive difference in his life. So much confidence and a healthy hobby for.life!
