Busy spot. You might get in or you might not. Depends on the mood of the bouncers!!

Great pub on the weekends. Very accommodating regarding functions and parties. Definitely a great spot to throw a birthday as it is a bit quiet around 6-7 but gets packed later on when the dj goes live. Music is really good, there's a large enough dance floor and their beer garden is very nicely heated, no problem sitting out there the whole evening even in winter.

It was a very good place. The atmosphere was good and the transportation was good.
However, since age confirmation was particularly strict, I think it is better to bring something that can confirm your age. The interior of the store was fashionable with the town flags displayed.
I don't bother my surroundings, so I think you can enjoy it quietly!

Was just wanderin down the road and stumbled on this lovely place; the beer and the burger were just what I needed in my explorations of Dublin.

Went to go in for a drink at 10pm on a Monday night. They wanted 3 to enter. Thought it was a joke!!
Went up the road to a few lovely pubs. Wont attempt McGowans again.

First Pub Ive been in since lockdown, that feels ,alive, upbeat, fun, and will be returning again in the very near future

Quiet while I was there meeting a friend. I don't drink personally, but she said her drink was lovley, not crazy expensive with a decent quantity!
There is music on a couple of days throughout the week and at weekends. The Bar was mostly men while the lounge was comfortable and suited our need to be there. Its literally a 5 min walk from where I live...would I go again? Yes maybe with some friends on a birthday perhaps...would I go on my own...nope!!
All in all the usual regular pub you get around Dublin. Nice Decor but nothing too extravagant

Had my 21st birthday party here, staff was so friendly, so helpful, I had an amazing night. The food was amazing , I came back 2 days later for their chicken wings ! So good. Would reccomend this bar to everyone

Good singles night party. Danced with many friendly people, guys and girls. Distance and cost of returning are the only issues or I'd go every night.

Great atmosphere, prices normal. Party nights usually end around 3am. Nice bar staff and large smoking area Insider tip for flirting.

Good pub with lots of screens for all kinds of big games, the food is tasty and great value. Turns into a right little spot as the night goes on and because of its late licence you dont need to stir if the quiet one or two turn into quite a few more...

Food was lovely alot better than expected and the pub quiz was really good laugh. Great selection of beers and whiskeys also.

7EUR for entrance and its nothing worth of it. We left after 20min. Better to stay in a Temple bar street. Well it depends what are you looking for ;)

A very overated bar which offers very little. It's also overpriced and they charge 7 in. 7 in is a bit much as they make enough money on the drink as it is. The bouncers on the door love asking pointless questions. Examples of this include Where do you live ? and Are you coming from work? There is a good jacks present and some of the staff are grand hence the 2 stars. No real athmosphere and dance section is a bit flat. The building on the outside is dull too with a miserable purple colour. Not a great place to watch sport from the looks of it either. It's old fashioned inside and constantly boasts on social media about upcoming events there and of course they charge you big time too. A modern day Fawlty Towers but a bar version instead of a hotel.

Great offer during the weekdays. Really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Decent place just outside of the city centre. Standard drinks prices. Nice place to pop into for an evening drink. Good busy venue for weekends

Didn't realize it was student night. Wasn't bad bud hard to find someone my own age to chat with.

Nice place for some drinks. Just the bar that is too small so it takes a while to get your drinks.

Walked in on my way home and started dancing with a group then had the doorman aggressively led me back outside then asked if I spoke English. When I started to reply he then started to make accusations about me shouting at him.
Didn't quite know what to make of that it other than he's a RACIST mofo so I just walked off.

Very happy with our experience. The service was fast, the food was lovely and the atmosphere as usual was great. The staff were really friendly and made sure we could enjoy ourselves as much as possible with the current restrictions in place. Will definitely book again.

Cillian , the rudest bar staff person I ever met , totally rude dismissive, intimatding, should not take it out on customers , need to up there game on a Monday evening

No.1 spot this side of the Liffey. Regular and I love it!

Will not be going back here and would not recommend it.
Staff refusing people with bookings and email confirmation in the pissings of rain.
Little fella with no hair and glasses at the door did not care that we took the time to reserve and book.
And I'm going to keep posting it everywere.
Also Ciara McGowan thank you for replying and confirming my reservation but why if your not letting people in.
Shouldnt really be writing welcome we have loads of space in the email.

Great place for a good pint and good food and a late bar

Good reasonably priced pub food that serves quite late. Plenty of seating with table service. Nightclub on weekends, with lots of crowds. There aren't any drink deals, and it costs 7 entry on weekends at night

Had a great night & met some really cool ppl! Going tonight ( Saturday ) been told it the best night

Great pub, really friendly atmosphere and lots of interesting objects all over the walls to look at, only downside is that it is a bit pricey for drinks after 11

Staff are not as friendly as would be expected for a pub/nightclub. No care given when serving customers when place is busy.

Food!

I note a lot of the reviews refer to the nightlife aspect of mcgownas. However their food I think is excellent pub grub so if you're about on a Saturday or Sunday and want to watch football over food and drinks it's a super spot. Opens between 2/3 on the weekends and check the website.

Special shout out for their chicken wings. As good as elephant and castle I think and cheaper. Ribs also good. They have some meat feast platters which would feed and army!

Busy place with loud music at the weekend! Young boistrous crowd.

The staff at the entrance are not doing a good job..I felt discrimination..Inside there is a good ambience.
