Food was fresh and hot, when I finally got it. Service was horrible. Business was moderate, so, it wasn't like they were slammed with orders. Had to ask for status of order at 20 minutes, then it took another 15 minutes to get it. No apology or explanation when delivered. Table was dirty when we sat down. No one visited us while we were there. Far cry from the McDougal's I used to enjoy in Franklin. Don't plan to return to this one.

Went here for dinner with a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the "cluttered casual" interior. With dollar bills mounted on every wall, there is nary a bare spot in the joint. The seating isn't anything the write home about, but there is plenty of it on the patio when the weather is nice. Order at the counter and they bring it to your seat.
They also have "chewable ice nuggets" which, according to my Southern friend, is an important thing to know about an establishment. The grilled chicken fingers were more like a quarter of a chicken breast... very large! I ordered the small basket (3 pcs) with a side of pickles and it was plenty with the fries and drink included. I don't do well with gluten, and this was fine for me. Just don't order the toast.

Fantastic and atmosphere and decoration make McDougal's feel quite local and homely. The chicken is sufficient - I personally do not find it that special or tasty - and the sauces very comparable to a Cane's. Free complementary ice cream was an unexpected and lovely surprise!
The chicken is absolutely delicious! The sauces are unique and so flavorful. It s kind of a hole in the wall but the food is incredible. Service isn t great but the food will make you forget that.
I really love the feel of this place. Great chicken options and they have ice cream for you when you finish your meal. Very busy at lunch especially on nice days but totally worth the wait.
Not Nashville Hot Chicken. Just regular tasty chicken. After your meal, they'll even give you a small ice cream to cool your palette.

Great chicken! The meals are a good size and sometimes you even get an extra chicken finger. The McDougal's sauce is really good, and goes with anything on the menu. The workers are friendly and work quickly. Definitely would recommend. However seating is limited, so if you are in a large group you may need to make sure there is room.
The chicken fingers here are awful...this was my first and last time eating there. The Buffalo and tearjerker sauces are dreadful..they leave a nasty after tase. The prices here are ridiculous too. I spent $18 for 5 chicken fingers and a side salad. It was a waste of money.
My husband and I stopped by this afternoon and although the line was long, service was fast and the food was tasty! We will be back
Tried a bit of everything and it was all fresh, hot, and delicious. I recommend ordering the sauce on the side; they are generous with portions and the ones ordered with sauce on top were smothered and a bit hard to eat.
Authentic homemade chicken fingers. You can actually tell that they bread them in the back...Not frozen crap like other places. great with the addition of one of their many sauces. the large chicken finger basket is huge. almost too much to eat. Oh and when you're done with dinner, you can get a free mini dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream! I'd go back again for sure.

Best chicken you can get around the Vanderbilt campus area. Friendly people and the interior decor is phenomenal and hilarious. The selection of sauces is perfect for anyone and everyone greets you with a smile. Will definitely make this a Nashville stop!
My son Rell has been going to McDougals since High School (2006) his football jersey is hanging on the wall there (Hillsboro)....As a matter of a fact April.30 of 2019 he took The Family out and order every kind of wings they serve. We were there celebrating The Homegoing of his late Grandfather Mr. Ray Hamilton....they treated us so well.

I would recommend the cheese sauce from papa johns and use it with the chickens from mcdoughals. Great combination for cream cheese lovers.

Great chicken for an even better price. Stopped here for a little bite to eat after touring the Belmont Mansion and couldn't be hapier. Loved the vibe of the place with all the old license plates and other memorabilia too. If you're looking for somewhere near Vandy to get some delicious chicken and other food at a great price, I would highly recommend McDougal's!

Really enjoyed eating here with our family. Lots of outdoor seating and the line moved pretty fast to order. We had the grilled chicken and it was very good and well seasoned. The dipping sauces were a nice addition.

I eat here all the time, it s my favorite wing place in Nashville and they re always so good. However, I had some wings delivered last night; nothing too crazy, just ordered what I usually get (6 wings tossed in the honeybee sauce) and today I woke up with nausea and a stomachache. I believe I have food poisoning, and it makes me really sad that the place I love so much made me extremely sick.
I've been to a lot of chicken places from Texas to Carolina, but no one made an impression quite like McDougal's. The chicken was great, the sauces were a great addition, and the staff was super helpful and friendly. Next time I'm in Nashville, I'm definitely going back.
There's something comfy about the food here. It's fried chicken, but it feels much lighter (not sure if relatively healthier) than the southern fried chicken places you find around town. On top of that, the chicken baskets come with lots of carbs so you'll definitely get a good case of food-coma after eating. The food isn't standout amazing, but there's something really comforting about it that keeps people like me coming back. That, and the fact that they have an amazing patio.

Their food is fresh, but very reliant on the sauces available which are significantly better. Avoid any peak times. Their estimates fall through the floor, so you have to remain patient.

I was looking for a step up from a fast food. I wanted to try local food. So I tried here. Staff was great. I order the 5 tender basket. Once order arrived I was really looking forward to trying it. The toast on top was awesome. Crisp and buttery. The fries were really hard. Not sure if it was the style or not. They tasted of salt and grease. No potato favor at all. The tender without sauce tasted of flour and grease. The chicken was chewy and tough. Not very tender tenders. The sauces couldn't make up for the tasteless tenders. Very disappointing.
I feel like the chicken was rushed because it was too greasy and the skin was soggy and falling off. The fries were good HOWEVER.
Great service and friendly atmosphere however The food was terrible. We went there around 3pm the least busy time and still there was about 20min wait. Just below average wings and the absolute worst fries you could possibly imagine. They tested like left over from days ago with so much burned oil. Needles to say got sick. Unfortunately I would never go back and can t recommend this place even to anyone!

McDougal's chicken is a tradition for many of the college students around town. If you are looking for some good chicken tenders, this is the place to go! Their fries are really tasty too! Make sure to grab a bottle of the seasoning spice before heading to your table to get a little more kick!
