I had to seat myself and then get up and get my own menu. Took over 45 minutes to get my food. Also, 2 couples came in after me and received there food before me.

Food & service good! Bar was inconsistent with their drinks.. offer of a specialty martini definitely depends on the bartender.. & if u complain they say it s a change in shifts & &?each bartender works differently! Umm well they shouldn t! Ur paying for a specific drink that s what u should get!! Ooh & we spoke to the manager who apparently was just brought over from another restaurant to help this location.. && yeah Jorge@ was useless!! I would return for the food .. but stick to draft they can t skimp on that!!..

Incredible food, friendly, attentive service and an awesome summer beer selection. The patio is great on a warm, breezy day.

Stopped in after an event at Old Glory, on the other side of the parking lot and got to say, a very nice, fun place to grab a drink late at night. The kitchen stays open late as well which is always a good thing for the late-night munchies. Bartender Mike was very friendly, conversing with us throughout the evening, and quick to grab a refill of liquor or water. Will definitely be back!

We aren't impressed with this place, we at inside we sat ourselves it took forever for the server to come. Decided we will go to Burlews instead better. I have friends that love this place because they eat outside and they can bring there dogs

MY HUSBAND AND I, LOVED MCDONAGH'S PUB, FOOD IS DELICIOUS THEY HAVE A RESTAURANT AND A BAR, THEY HAVE OUTSIDE SEATING, A GREAT PLACE TO EAT AND THE WAITER'S ARE GREAT, AND THEY HAVE SEVERAL TV'S, I GRANTED YOU WILL LOVE MCDONAGH'S PUB

McDonaghs is my favorite bar hands down. I always feel welcomed by their super friendly staff. Great food, great beer, great live music. What more can you ask for?

Great place!!! Service is outstanding, was there in September with a friend for lunch and the waitresses were so sweet . Even waitress that were not assigned to our table stopped by to see how everything was, and if we needed anything. It was refreshing to receive service like that. Wasn't even upset that my super huge hamburger had a tiny mistake.. Mayo on it.. no big deal. It was fixed with lightning speed. I loved sitting outside on the newly renovated patio. There were over 6 oversized flat screen TV outside in a partially covered area which would be great for Football. Can't wait to come back.. my friend eats here a few times a week, she works down the street. I wish I lived closer, I would be here everyday!!!

Stopped in for lunch. They had a $5 and $8 menu inclusive of sandwiches and salads. Very diverse options. Went with the $5 house chicken salad and wasn't disappointed. Wings with the Kdog sauce are the go-to here! You can get your wings grilled or fried. Mixed drinks are on the expensive side, but there are often beer specials to cut the cost of your bill down a bit.

Food was delicious but service was terrible. Took an hour to get our meal. So disappointed.

This place is top notch. All of the menu items are attention grabbing. To start, the table got a Bavarian pretzel to share, and it came with caramel, honey mustard, and beer cheese dips. It was enough for everyone to get a fair share and the dips complemented the warm flaky pretzel beautifully. I went with the short rib black pepper burger and boy did I make the right choice. The burger was cooked to mouth-watering perfection. The short rib topping gave it a not too sweet contrast that made for a tremendous pairing. The fries were crispy and fresh and lightly salted. Service was quick and the environment (especially in the Covid era) was quaint and clean. This friendly pub is worth another visit or two.

Old hangout love it here, though the food used to be a tad better.

It's not my number one pick, a little pricey for a pub and the food is nothing special to require the price the ask.

Just celebrated my niece's 21st birthday! Great food and great service! Mike our server was such a pleasure and helped make her 21st a memorable time!

Went with the pooch and my cousin and her dog and they told us 40 min with 15 tables open oh well went old glory

Worst experience I've had in months.

Terrible service, Terrible food, definitely charged my opinion about this place. Not even the beautiful weather plus beer could change it.

We went on Sunday night for lobster night. $12.95 for 1 pound lobster corn and chips. Totally worth it place was packed inside and outside great atmosphere wonderful staff definitely will be going again five stars

The Food & the Beer were good. The service was a little slow. But due to the current situation. They were very Courteous. But we plan on visiting again.

Food was very good a little pricey but that is the same in a lot of Irish places. Fun atmosphere. Service was good. Will go again.

Disappointed with the last couple What times I ordered. Every time delivery comes it s missing an item. The last two times it was missing our beverages. When we called they brought the beverages back, if clearly was not but it was supposed to be. I paid $16 for two drinks and only received one (cup was only filled 1/4 the way)

Kinda an Irish Pub but not really all that Irish . More of a regular bar and grill. Good service, food was decent. Prices were inexpensive, but the portions were small (matched the prices). Nice stop if you are in the area.

Place is hit or miss with food, but the Guinness is cold, so thats good. Not much in the way od social distancing though. Packed tables when you come in thru the back, and all the seats still pushed up together at the bar. If theres not alot of ppl there thats ok, but if there are more, everyone will be up on each other.

I had an awful experience. I placed an order for delivery at 7pm. Over an hour later I recieved my food, which was barely warm. After looking through the bag I noticed my frozen margarita wasn't in the bag. I called and asked why it was missing and the worker hung up the phone. I called again and the worker had an awful attitude. Finally almost two hours after I orginally order food, I received my drink, which wasn't frozen. I will never be ordering from this place again

Absolutely lousy place. The staff manager who was on duty last night 3/16/19 was the absolute worst.

Service was simply lousy had to go to the bar in order to get drinks. The service of food had people waiting with food in front of them for nearly 20 until the whole table was served. Our party spent a lot of money then was rushed out of our table and the manager not once came to speak with us until we demanded to speak with him because we where told by a waitress that we would no longer be served at the end of our meal.

Food was sub-par and the beer on draft was flat for some selections.

I feel ashamed that this place calls itself an Irish pub because it is far from being such.

Wonderful little pub in a beautiful historic building. This is a cozy little place with great ambience that has maintained much of the building's historic charm and architecture.

The food is typical of pubs & taverns: nachos, wings, burgers, sandwiches, etc. While the menu is not expanise the selections are all very good.

The Mega Bavarian Pretzel is worth the trip alone! It's fresh and gigantic plus it come with an assortment of sauces for dipping.

The Mcdonagh s Pub Burger is the best burger on the menu, the belgium beer cheese is tasty! There is also a Mac N' Cheese burger that is a deliciously messy concoction.

There is a great selection of beers on tap. Not many places have both Harp and Guinness but this is an Irish pub so of course they do!

There is an outdoor bar and seating area that's just as big as the indoor area. Haven't been here in warmer weather but the outdoor looks to have great atmosphere as well.

Had a great time hearing live music on Saturday night.

Even though it was crowded at night, the waiter was really helpful to all!

Please come and chill at McDonagh's Pub such an awesome place to come if you wanna celebrate anything

Horrible service! Even our waitress agreed and said she would tell the manger what happened and take care of our drinks for the pathetic results from just getting drinks to our food.End result they couldn t even accomplish comping for what happened her manger denied the waitress request
Save your time and money go to Maloney s in Matawan for great food and service !!!!

Great beer! Burger OK, mine was overcooked but the 2 others on our table were perfect. Fries are less than desirable.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Waited 45 minutes for cold food and a attitude from the manager. Cya

Great service always and food is always perfect. My favorite are the wraps.

Good knucklehead bar. You won't get any smarter hanging out here, but it is what is. The poor a good Guiness.

Food is ok. Service always seems to be very slow.

9/5/2019 Update - Patio is no longer dog friendly. Such a shame. I know it's not their fault, but that takes away the main reason we went there.

Very reasonably priced. Outside seating with fireplaces for a cool night. Great happy hour options. Great beer selections. Great place to hang out with friends for a great time out. Can't wait to go back

Came in last night and all of the food was disgusting except for the McDonagh s burger. cooked perfectly. The calamari was horrendous and the corned beef egg rolls has nothing in them!! Our server was kind and great and the general manager was very polite and helpful. Other than that, there s not much that you re going to miss out on if you don t go to this place.

Had I not had ti wait so long for everything I might have rated it higher. We, a party of 3, we're seated at 7:50 pm. Our server was quick to take our drink order as we told him well look at the menu to decide. Drinks back in less than 5 mins. So far so good. Placed our order and apps were out 25 mins later. Apps were good that's where it ends. Server was more than accommodating. But we asked 3 times when would receive the rest. Over an hour later still nothing. Explained that we were going to leave. No manager ever came over at all. Paid for the apps and left. Saw 3 other tables also complaining about the kitchen service. Can't say I'll be back.

Ordered burgers to go, mine with specific instructions to leave a certain item off. Picked up order, got home and opened my burger and the item i requested not be there, was. Not as if she may not have heard me, because she read the order back to make sure she had it rite. This is not first time something like this happened. Oh yeah, while I am kinda ranting, the sweet potato fries could have been cooked better. They were very soggy. Usually better. On a better note, my wife's order was very good! McDonagh Chips, as always, were very good also! Always have a good time while visiting McDonagh's Pub! Their enlarged outside patio is very nice! Great upgrade! See you again soon, will not let a couple of small details stop me from enjoying all else they have to offer. Overall, McDonagh's is a GREAT place to have a good time with friends!

Food was great. It was extremely busy when we went so there was a bit of a wait for our food after ordering but it was worth the wait.

Good place great food nice environment my stars pertain to the fact that not all patrons are wearing masks to walk into the restaurant and be seated. Some have the masks on the chins walking around on the Inner part (in which has its doors open yes) but you can t have a sign to be masked to be seated and not be consistent in enforcing that which would make someone like me and I m sure many others feel unsafe in going as I went with my children and chances are I won t return because If masks are not being enforced I will not go. Too bad !

Food and drinks were good. Service was a tad slow, but didnt have a drastic impact on the overall experience. There weren't a whole lot of options for gluten free, but I was able to find a few options in the apps (shrimp and steak). Food was definitely fresh and tasty. My one complaint was that the music was loud. It is a bar, however, so I can understand. Also, seems that the outdoor section would be a great place to eat. If it were a bit warmer I would've eaten outside. I will definitely come back.

Good experience overall. I was disappointed when failed to maintain inventory for advertise products in the dining menu.

I played at McDonaghs with my band Funk Point 5 Sunday. It's a great place to have a beer, listen to music and grab a bite to eat. Try the Guinness!

One of my most favorite bars, love to eat here they have great food ( the McDonaghs chips are my favorite) great prices, not to expensive, good beer selection not to overly crowded, Decent size parking lot.

Over all 9 at of 10 times I go here I have a great time. They have live bands playing all the time, nice vibe. Great place to chill and hang out.

Here 11/27 the bartender keeps taking our drink order and never brings our drinks. I understand it s busy but If you actually take an order maybe bring the drinks. My friends and I have been coming here for years and they seem to be lacking lately.
