We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. Andrew was our server and he was excellent, it was the best service we ve had in a long time. The food was delicious, the gnocchi and vegetables were great and the swordfish was fresh and delicious. The cocktail and coffee were also excellent!

Great tasting menu experience!

Great tasting menu experience!

The ambiance and service here are top-notch. The views of the kitchen provide a unique experience that you generally do not get to see. It s a very intimate dining experience that allows you to converse with each other and the others around you.

The flavors are southern in nature but elevated. The seafood courses stood out as expected. We had some great wine pairings and service from the staff and the manager. To see the setup after each course is a well-orchestrated show to get to experience.

McCrady's is one of the very best restaurants in the Charleston area. Their chef always has delicious, unique, and fresh menu options. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The bartenders are friendly and efficient with a wine list that goes on for miles.

Where else can you walk in President George Washington's footsteps. The "Long Room" is truly an episode from Charleston's history. The menu is very well thought out and the bar is far more than well appointed. The service was impeccable and the food was prepared with care. This should be on your agenda. Get reservations well ahead and prepare for a fantastic dining experience. Can't wait to return.

Had the burger, $16. The lettuce and tomato on it ...

Had the burger, $16. The lettuce and tomato on it were minuscule and pathetic. Looked days old to me. Not crisp or fresh. The meat had some flavor, but barely. The cheese stuffing (whose presence was not indicated on the menu) tasted like it was overly seasoned with some real weird seasoning. Inedible, for the most part. My first bite was fine, other than the burger completely falling apart. The second bite had the strange cheese, and was promptly spit out, and there was no third bite. The fries that came with the burger were overly fried, basically burnt.

I don't live here, so I never have to worry about eating here again. I've been to a lot of places like this, and like many pretentious "taverns", they are trying way too hard to be hip.

Skip this place. Go to a Five Guys, or whatever you have here, where you'll get actually fresh toppings, meat that isn't sullied by unidentifiable seasoning, and you won't have to pretend that the food is good because it was outrageously expensive.

FYI, you may think that the atmosphere in this incredibly historic building is worth a little extra. You are right, it is. However, a lot of the decor is simple a facade, so it's neither period correct or functional. Also, they played poorly chosen music way too loud. And, both times I used the restroom I had to dodge the wait staff that almost seemed to be trying to get in my way (they weren't, it just not the best layout).

One last note, another person I was with also didn't eat their food. No one asked what was wrong or anything. For the price and fan fare of this place, they simply will never be able to live up to expectations.

Excellent food, the pork waz tender and delicious and the veggie plate with gnocci awesome but the baked alaska was just heaven, delicious and excellent presentation. The restaurant is really cozy and has a lot of personality, i would highly recommend it.

Not a super foody person, but we followed the waiters recommendation and had 4 of the items on the menu. Chose the ember roasted squab, grilled beef flat iron, bob woods country ham, and smoked trout. It was absolutely fantastic range of flavors that I never would have tried or thought to combine myself. Waiter was impeccable with service level and requested info on both the restaurant and local neighborhood. Also great charming atmospher tucked in a quite alley.

Super nice and fun place to get a variety of drinks from beer and an extensive wine list to amazingly creative and fun cocktails!!! You may have to wait a little while since the bartender is working hard on making these intricate drinks but they're well worth the wait! Wish we could've tried the food but if we return to Charleston we definitely plan on eating and drinking at McCrady's.

This is a really intimate little restaurant. I love that they offered you a glass of wine instantly before you were even in your seat. The wait staff is superb, and you basically get a private waiter for the duration of your meal. The courses moved pretty fast, so if you're doing the wine pairing, you better drink up quick or you'll have a glass poured and waiting in the wings. The best bites were the first offerings. There were three "snacks" up first that were excellent. The best dish was like a pasta made of finely cut squid... the broth was amazing. The heartiest course was duck, and unfortunately, it was pretty underwhelming. The dessert was fine, but not overly memorable. It's expensive, but a unique meal.

Awesome downtown location. Historic building perfect for large gatherings. We are doing a rehearsal dinner there for 44 people, all at 1 table. Food and drink prices are typical of downtown.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Food was excellent, staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and just a full adventure the moment you walk through the door. The flavors are that of what most never have a chance to encounter. It's almost emotional when you go through tasting what's brought out. I can't give enough praise to everyone there and their efforts. It was my wife's birthday and she's also pregnant so they adjusted all dishes accordingly. She even got the non-alcoholic pairing and never felt left out. Everything matched as if that was the original intent. It's not cheap but if you have the opportunity, don't pass it up.

My husband took me to dinner here for our anniversary a couple years ago. We were dressed appropriately (dress, suit), and were prepared for the extreme price tag ($100+ per person). The food portions were very tiny and spread across numerous courses, so we were kept hungry over the entire course of the hours it took to get through it. What permanently soured me to this restaurant, though, was the treatment. Our waiter was one of the most condescending people I've ever encountered. He made jokes at our expense and couldn't wipe the mocking look off his face when he bothered to visit our table in a nearly empty restaurant. There are waaaayyyy too many wonderful restaurants in Charleston where the food is fantastic and the staff will treat you like gold. We warn any visitors away from this place.

Fantastic experience - 6 of us enjoyed 4 course meals composed of complicated culinary creations and not one flower, sauce or sprinkle was left on any of our plates. Perfectly plated and presented by an attentive staff. The chef and staff display their passion with every action!

I can t believe no one has yet described this as American kaiseki. Or maybe I didn t read enough reviews? It s a degustation (set tasting) menu. And it s exquisite. Impeccable service, plating and wine pairings. And FOOD of course. An expensive indulgence worth it for a special night out with a loved one! This is why it s a great idea to put yourself in someone else s hands.

Great food! Great service! Try the ginger ale with a shot of whiskey. Steak Royale was an extremely well thought out dish with incredible flavor. We went there for my wife's birthday and was presented with the dessert that included a "Happy Birthday" chocolate! See picture. Very classy. Tip of my hat to the entire staff! The building dates in the late 1700s and creates the backdrop for the wonderful atmosphere.

Tavern quality food, dockworker's tavern quality c...

Tavern quality food, dockworker's tavern quality clientele with fine dining prices. The only thing to say is that the whole experience felt dishonest. They profess a fine dining experience and charge very fine dining prices (even as an ex-New Yorker I had a little sticker shock) but that was before Journey was blaring so loud I couldn't hear my date across from the very small table. This is the most overpriced disgusting meal from start to finish I've ever experienced - I've had better experiences at a Waffle House. Let's start with the biggest scam on a menu the $45 "market" price caviar and tater tots. The tater tots had obviously been fried twice, as in left over from the previous day in stuck in month old grease to be "freshened" up. The caviar parfait was tasteless an Ore Ida tater tot with sour cream is better. They'd be better off just serving the escargot and marrow bone in a traditional way rather - hardly any escargot and it was just plain greasy. Everything was greasy - greasier than the Waffle House BY FAR. Mains were uninspiring, and again incredibly greasy not to mention tasteless. One of the most dishonest things The mashed potatoes with "truffle butter" - lots of butter not a hint of truffle. I even tried to eat a couple pieces of the "truffle" - without potatoes to test. Pretty sure it was the burnt toast crumbs from the escargot and bone marrow appetizer tossed on there - not even a hint of flavor. Beef tartare - well let's just say I'm watching my fingers swell up from the salt as I type this. Just hoping I won't end up with food poisoning after reading some other guests. If I"m going to be served a $45 appetizer, I shouldn't have to smell the fellow diners cigarette smoke (she took a smoke break during dinner, not McCrady's fault but indicative of the clientele at this "fine dining" establishment) with the Best of the 80s blaring.

Charleston is full of fabulous restaurants - this is not one of them (maybe it was once upon a time.) If you want to waste your money on an overpriced has been restaruant, then this is the place to go.

The only positive outcome is that I can now stop calling Husk to try to get a reservation.

Food was great but the service wasn't great. We had to wait to be asked what we wanted to drink and we had to flag down our server to order another wine. Place was at most 50% full. I don't mind waiting for food. But it was a good 10 min wait after we sat down for our server to greet us.

Not sure if we were there on a off night or what... Service was great... Probably a little over the top if you ask me... Borderline OCD behavior. My fork and knife are just fine sitting in the wooden holder. Food was okay, nothing to write home about... Of the 13 courses 7 of them were one bites. I've had better meals at 30 spots across Charleston no questions asked. Bill was $900 for 4 people and we didn't do wine pairings (which they also pushed down our throats to do)

Really hated the place. Food ranged from boring to terrible. Only the steak was good but my wife thought it was too salty which it was. Only 25% occupied which tells you something. Save your money and go to FIG.

My husband and I came for the chefs tasting menu and well, it did not disappoint. This was a special experience and I would highly recommend doing this on your trip to Charleston if it's in your budget. The food you will taste in this dining experience is unlike anything you'll try at any restaurant. You are treated like royalty and the room you are seated in is beautiful, quaint and the chefs are literally culinary artists.

I know that a restaurant in an alley usually doesn't sound appetizing but take my word. McCrady's is a must!!!!

To get the evening started here's a Hint: Talk to Kevin at the bar. Ask about the bourbons. Great mixologist Don't miss out on the Bone marrow and escargot. I'm mopping up the sauce up with their incredible bread. Yummm!

The history of this place is amazing! This place was established I 1778. Someone must have gotten something right.

What a cool place! It's hidden down an alley, so you have to look for it, but it is worth visiting. The food was very good and the desert was really delicious. But I really like the atmosphere and being able to dine and drink in an establishment that has been around for over 200 years. And, for you bourbon aficianados, I even found some Pappy Van Winkle
