Really like the environment, water facing with glass windows
Excellent service and food! Highly recommend coming here. You won't be let down.
HH is pretty awesome here. I had the crispy coconut shrimp and the Ahi Poke bowl along with an old fashion. All were very tasty and filling. Great service at the bar with some good tips for a non local.
I reserved a table for five, for dinner on a Saturday evening. This was an important birthday, so I wanted to go to what should be a fine restaurant. The waiter took orders and left. Fifteen minutes later, someone showed (not our waiter) with the scallop dinner for my son. The water appeared a few minutes later and asked, "who delivered the scallops?" We had no answer, but they were cold now, because we wanted to eat as a family. We were then told that the fish my wife had ordered, had run out (we arrived at 7:00 pm) - what else would she like? As a second choice, she ordered halibut. After salad, dinner finally arrives. My sons scallops are stone cold by now, and even though they just arrived, the other dinners are all cold as well. Not only that, one of the plates, the fish, is nearly raw, and this is not ahi.
So they take ALL of the plates back, cook another plate of scallops for my son, and re-cook the raw fish. It all finally comes out, but the servings, especially the halibut, are tiny. The halibut especially, is not enough to satiate the appetite of my very petite wife.
The experience? Disgusting. They discounted the meal, but they thoroughly screwed the evening for us. It's been years since I ate at a McCormicks and Schmicks restaurant because the experience is never good, regardless of the restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Service was incredibly slow and food was only okay. The ahi tuna had a tiny amount of sauce and on another dish, the "heirloom carrots" side was literally two baby-carrot sized pieces.
Pretty nice place. Service is good. Beer was hot. Steak was over cooked. But it was still good. Lots of flavor. The asparagus was yummy. Great view even in the rain.
Well prepared food, service was... Acceptable. Didn't get a full view of the river.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR HARBORSIDE MCCORMICK AND SCHMIDTS -
A big valentine disappointment. I have been going to Harborside for years and sad to say the menu is not what it used to be! We came in to be seated next to a dirty plexi on the top level, listened to the staff put out orders, had a dirty lipstick stained water glass..just to start. The scallops ( we were told were from Massachusetts - were frozen and tasted poor ) the fish over done and many bones, the potatoes had a processed aftertaste. This is a high end restaurant that for years has been in high review...sorry to say our meal was not special, the ambiance was not there and since many restaurants changed management..it is obvious that the integrity of the changes is not for the best. We will not be back - For $140.00 meal ticket we had hoped to at least enjoy the quality of the food.
Note - we came in at 4:45, our waiter was nice enough, a bit slow and the meal was nothing to talk about. Last year we mentioned the amazing beet salad, the grilled scallops ( melted in your mouth ) ...OMG nite and day comparison. Not the way anyone wants to enjoy a Valentine evening. Sad when owners cut costs at the expense of US the customers...we have to spend the money "thinking after the years of eating here the experience would be the same ) yet without knowing get served a poor meal at OUR cost - and do they even read these reviews..who knows?
Hmmm time to look hard at the changes at Harborside - in fact looking at the reviews there are many similar to mine, loyal customers that expect the usual ambiance and fabulous menu and receive less than average at our cost. There are MANY other special restaurants in Portland that we will continue to support.
Unbelievably scrumptous. The wine list had many desirable choices. Service matched the food, excellent. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Atmosphere was chill, laid back although there must've been someone new because every few min. a dish was dropped or broken. Divine experience.
We ate in the bar on a busy Saturday night but the service was so slow and my Chopped Salad had the driest, most tasteless grilled chicken I've had, didn't have heart to send it back after waiting 45+ minutes. I've had good meals at other M&S but I'm not sure I'll try Harborview again.
Great location and ambient, the food is delicious and the it's not too pricey!
We came here hoping to have a nice family dinner on our vacation. The guy at the front desk asked if we had a reservation and we did not. He starting looking at his clip board and said it would be 45 minutes to an hour....then gave us excuses to why they are booked for reservations and it will get really busy soon. I feel like that was BS because the restaurant was clearly not busy and there were plenty of open tables. Not sure if you turned us away because we had our 1 year old son with us??!! We got the impression you are not a kid friendly restaurant.
Delicious clam choweder, handsome gentlemen.
Sandos
Great location with fantastic outdoor seating. Staff was very positive and attentive even during the covid times.
Great seafood and spirited service. I'd go back there in a minute!
My to go place for happy hour and enjoy its salads and martinis.
It was pretty good. I wouldn't sit outside again due to insects, but overall I enjoyed my food.
Food was not horrible but also not worth the prices! Think "Olive Garden" or "Red Lobster." You can get better quality for less. This is a chain restaurant so...
Our first time here we simply loved the food! We totally recommend! The ultimate seafood platter is delicious! Casey is awesome!!
I asked for a medium-rare burger, but it came back completely cooked, almost dry but still okay, and the french fries were not seasoned. My brother had their chicken and waffle, which was outstanding. I'm disappointed they put more focus on their most popular menu items to the exclusion of others.
Very delicious, great environment, beautiful views over the river. Be sure to visit and dusk to see all of the hanging lights
the food was good, the dessert (Berries in a bag) was the best!! Super AMAZING wait staff
Happy hour on weekends are nice, had to take a star off because they do not offer happy hour on mother's day (prob other holidays), why wouldn't they let mother's have a cheaper beer/wine? My only guess is they don't like mother's...
The best happy hour ever.
Go to there happy hour if you can.
It was a very nice day to be sitting outside at the restaurant celebrating Father's Day with my boyfriend! The Lobster Cobb Salad was very good and the Staff was friendly!
Always great service and delicious food options. This waterfront location is a great place for people watching and riverside scenery, and the building is quite lovely as well, providing for a classy yet comfortable ambiance. I highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner, business lunch or family gathering. Happy hour provides some great specials and tasty treats, too.
M&S is okay. So here's the deal. I've been at a few different M&S restaurants. Each time, I left feeling that the food and drinks were fine, but nothing to write home about. The ambiance suggests a high-classed meal, but the service is just average. In general, I'd say that everything is a bit overpriced all considered. I'm not going to discourage you from going to M&S, but rather, just let you know what to expect when you get there so that you're not disappointed when you pay your tab and ask.... really???
This place outdid my previous comments from the San Jose location. Riverfront outdoor seating, attentive servers, and we'll prepared food.
Love the happy hour food. The shrimp and poke bowl was awesome and the fish Taco was yummy.
When you enter you can instantly feel the age and wisdom of the building. It's warm, just perfectly lit with plant of seating choices. There was a berry here once but all the great had been long taken away and replaced with more seating that felt a little more lit.
Beer is beer and they have a Bucky of options on tap but the mixed drinks were what I'd like to touch on. I had a couple of different drinks and they were ALL delicious!!! I had this one blueberry one that had mint and some other stuff and it was to die for! Also had a like peach margarita that was bomb too!!
Food was on point for the most part. I had the stuffed salmon and seared sea scallops and that was SOO DANG GOOD! For appetizers we had the crab cakes, ahi poke chips, bacon wrapped shrimp and the blackened chicken quesadilla which are all very tasty. I'm a big fan of poke and theirs was good. Don't let me near those crab cakes again though because they were delicious. But my hat goes off to the bacon wrapped shrimp *drooool* O M G! Now that just blew my mind it was so dang good!!! Can I just get a hundred of those for dinner???
On to dessert...amazing! We split the Apple pie puff. It was just right imo. Sweet but not like frosted flakes sweet. Ice cream was bomb.
The service was just exceptional from the welcoming you receive the second you step foot in the door, to the servers and staff and even sending you on your way out the door with more love. Can't wait to come back for another visit!
Just OK.
My wife had the filet which was fine but why do you need to have to order a side of potato ? Can't the entree complete. I tried to order the "Any fish" option only to find this didn't work. All very inflexible hence the rating
Can't beat the view of this particular location right on the Willamette River, located off McCall Waterfront Park... $3 Bloody Mary's & Mimosas during weekend brunch was what drew us in .. then I was pleasantly surprised by their decently priced bisquit & gravy, which definitely had a unique consistency and above average flavor. Chop Salad was also pretty darn good for a chain restaurant like this. Location, location, location....and cheap brunch beverages! Server was friendly too despite the wait for service in what seemed like a very slow breakfast hour. Thanks, will definitely return some weekend!
Best,
~S
I went for happy hour with co-workers and was disappointed with the menu not having any real vegetarian or vegan options. It was my first time there and I ordered the truffle fries. They were pretty bland. I'm not going to be going back unless they add vegetarian and vegan options for entrees.
This place was great. Beautiful view and great atmosphere and food.
I don't get to Portland often, but this is a MUST anytime I get into town.
Really great seafood, wonderful view of the harbor, and super service! And totally reasonable prices.
Located right along the river. Sidewalk seating is great. Service was solid!
Loved the food and service. Great view out so de seating
Meager portions, burned veggies, unattentive service.
Nice setting for Sunday lunch, but food was poorly prepared. Over salted and over cooked.
The service is great, the food is good the experience is awesome!
Very good food!! Love the atmosphere and the service was good and friendly.
Great food and service. And great desserts. But considering the price, the delicious entree portions were meager. And parking was terrible: no disability parking and we ultimately paid $18 for 2.5 hours parking.
The service was great. We ate outside at tables which were nicely separated to prevent spread of the coronavirus. It has a beautiful view of the water docked there. Our waiters and waitresses were very nice to us and we were offered interior dining as well as exterior patio dining. The food was very good.
Cocktails were good food was okay... Dessert was the best
Solid restaurant, nice marina location, good for our business dinner
Great spot on the river with outdoor seating. It's not all messed up like other parts of downtown. Clean. Good food
Great spot! Sit outside to take in the river views. Great selection of seafood. Great bar!
Overrated and need a loan to pay for your dinner. If we're talking about city views, you're better off at the Portland City Grill. Decor looks like mid-80s.
My 1st trip to this M&S, did not change my opinion that M&S ain't what it used to be...but I will give it one more go round. Nice location, but all too often that is a guarantee the food will be mediocre
Really nice seafood. Had scallops the first time. I ended up getting swordfish the next. Both dishes were terrific.
Good food. Fun atmosphere. Great location. Good service.
Wow not what I remembered from McCormick & Schick from Seattle. Poorly cooked food. Would have been a 1 except for the waiter
Seasonal non-alcohol beverage - poor, scollop appetizer - quite gritty/sandy, BC salmon - raw/cool on one end of 7oz filet while slightly overdone on the other, accompanying beet w/ too-sweet glaze - yuck. Bread - still great. I used to love this place and it was always 5 stars. Will not go back.
The service was lovely as well as the environment and atmosphere of the place I can't remember the name of the drink that I had but it was delicious very refreshing and well-made the desert wasn't too bad either it was a white chocolate mousse cake I've heard that other items on the menu are to die for as well
Good food, excellent location and views, right on the Riverwalk path in Portland.
Always a solid choice and location is great. Boardwalk tables are open
Great food & drinks. Love sitting outside & people watching
Great friendly staff! Pretty views of marina, river, SE city lights and bridges. Good food and great happy hour!
What a nice restaurant. The food was good, I loved our waitress. Great view of the water from our table.
Outdoor dining during COVID pandemic is great. Waiters and waitresses are respectful of mask and social distancing. Excellent dinner and service for dinner on Sunday 23 Aug 2020! The 3 course dinner for $25 is a DON T MISS OUT value if you happen to be there on Sunday or Monday (only).
