Lovely 100 acre park for picnics, weddings, pictures or just a casual stroll. They have a Japanese garden with several water features. There is also an Italian garden filled with gorgeous flowers. Mansion and carriage house are among the structures on the property. It's free to explore the grounds and there is a fee to visit the mansion.

Maymont is a gem. Wife and I were just there for a walkabout on our anniversary (it's where I proposed). A beautiful day made better by the amazing estate. Truly an exceptional park in the city.
Free. Gorgeous 100 acres of parkland and homes. Mansion closed on weekdays. Bring a camera, water and walking shoes. Too much to see in 3 hours. Many places to seat and enjoy the views. It was highly recommended to us. Many animals on site.
Beautiful area to walk and spend the day. We must have come on an off day about a month ago because all the buildings were closed and several of the fountains and streams were turned off. The zoo section also seemed like it needed a bit of attention. Despite that, we still had a wonderful time, and I know it would be even better with everything up and open. Maymont has a little for everyone, from walking trails and gardens, to house tours and a farm. Our favorite sections were the Japanese garden and the yard right outside the house.
The Park itself BEAUTIFUL. great place to spend the day on a date or with the family. We went during the Garden Glow Event and HIGHLY recommend it! Plenty of events are held here through the year so be sure to check out their website!
Such a gem nestled right in the middle of Richmond. Enjoyable for all ages and all seasons. Free admissions but please consider donating or buying a membership to support Maymont.
They rehab and offer homes for local wildlife, have awesome summer camps and programs for kids, and have recently renovated the nature center. A much better option to see native animals rather than a visit to the zoo!
Beautiful gardens, children's farm, local wildlife, waterfalls, streams and plenty of spaces for activities. If you get lucky, you can catch Garden Glow at night in the fall or live music in the park.

This light show was really nice. Weather was great. Not to hot or cold. Just wish there was more hand sanitizer by the restrooms. Small thing. Lots of things to take pictures of.
We love Maymont but you have to catch their Garden Glow event. Held 2 weekends in the fall, the Japanese Garden is lit up with beautiful lights. It is amazing.

Got to see some animals, get in tons of steps, and it's a great place to meet with friends outdoors.
Go for a leisurely walk, say hi to a chubby black bear, try to spot a cozy fox, catch the eye of a curious owl and find a rock to picnic on in the sun as you people watch and enjoy nature
