I've been coming to Maykadeh for almost 3 years now. Their kabab is one of the best in the Bay Area. It is so juicy and it tastes similar to kababs in Iran. The staff is always very friendly and the food comes out relatively quickly. It does get crowded at times, so it might be a good idea to make a reservation. Also they have valet parking which is great since that area in North Beach is almost always packed.

This persian food restaurant is one the famouse in bay area. The best dish they serve is "Abbasi kebab" that is one of the best kebabs ever, Fesenjan stew isn't that good though. Try to eat kebab here and find a parking spot some where else in weekends. It can be considered as a semi-luxury place for eating

The food: Their beef koobideh in O.K- .
Their chicken koobideh tastes like fried froth (ew)
The veggie options: let me just say don't be a fool and pay $20 for something like their awful eggplant stew. They tell you that it's veggie but in fact they make it with meat and just fish out the meat for a veggie dish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food is over priced. Utensils are NEVER clean. You know what, just go to McDonald it has more character than Meykadeh!

One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. They remember you and make you feel like family. The koobideh soltanieh is worth it. I also like the Persian Delight cocktail.

The food was very good. I enjoyed it. Clean and beautiful place. Warm vibe. I went there Jun 2017, it was my first time. The price was a little high but almost the same as other Persian restaurants around.

It was nice to find Persian food away from home. Traditional Persian restaurant
The Gorhmen Sabzi was really good. Make sure to take a selfie in the first bathroom it's kinda cool with the mirrors in there. The staff was really nice and accommodating.

Ate her during Labor Day weekend based on the Yelp reviews. The quality of the food was good, and I found the koobideh to be quite flavorful. However, the lamb dishes we received seemed rather bland in comparison. The portions are big, so be ready to share.

One of the best Persian restaurants I have ever be...

One of the best Persian restaurants I have ever been to. The place has an old vibe, which was nicely decorated with candle light and roses. But the tables are too close to each other. The server lady was not too sweet, rather was in a hurry. The complementary pita breads with salad and butter was too good. I ordered a Babaganoush ( spelling right?) which was served cold and very aromatic and flavorful. I was actually full after eating all these! Then my main entree arrived. It was a chicken chello kebab. The portion size was too large for me. In fact two people can easily share. The saffron- buttered rice was very aromatic. And the juicy kebabs are unearthly. I never expected such a soft piece of chicken ( it was actually ground chicken I guess). The food was very nice. I had to take the remaining portion as a togo. The lady asked me if I need any dessert or wine. She was not very happy to find that I was not ordering anything like that. It was not too pricy if you compare the portion size and the quality. However I think they need to be little more hospitable ( with a smiling face) from their side.

I have been sick to the stomach and haven't been able to eat food since yesterday when my Grubhub delivered Maykadeh order of Chicken Breast Kabob had a dead fly on it. I had just received delivered, put some in a bowl to eat as I worked on my laptop. I was not paying attention and already ate a spoonful or two when I noticed the thing right in my food, all oily and seared it was cooked with my food. It must have been sitting on the raw chicken and stuck to it with all the marinade.
I am wondering how dirty their kitchen is if they have flies in San Francisco this time of year given that its cold, dry and windy.

Soltani and Makhloot (Faloodeh bastani) were really delicious.
Kashke bademjoon was ok.

I had two experiences with the staff. One really not patient in resolving the group payment issue, another very friendly :)

The BEST, BEST persian food I have ever had the quality is on another level, the service and atmosphere are fantastic. You can take non-iranian friends here and they'll appreciate it just as much as you do, you really can't ask for more (maybe parking/valet) but other than that fully deserving of the 5 stars

Plentiful portions matched with delicious flavors make this a fun group dinner setting. Reservations highly recommended. Ordered Ghormeh sabzi, kubideh, kashke bademjan, lamb chops, and poussin -- all excellent and highly recommended. A little loud inside but in a lively way. Fast service was a great fit for our group of hungry diners. If you're looking for quiet and intimate, go to Anar. For lively and large portions, come here.

I visited the restaurant on 3/18/2017. This was my first experience at Maykadeh. I found the menu overpriced and Maykadeh overrated. I ordered chelo-kebab koobideh. The skewered meat was undercooked (raw in the middle) and the taste was bland. My wife ordered chicken kebab. It did not taste like the real Persian one. Maykadeh even charged separately for the feta cheese that was supposed to arrive with the Persian green appetizer. I won't recommend this restaurant.

over expensive and bad food. We went there on NYE and ordered soltani and stews. The stews (eggplant and fesenjoon) both were on the sweet side, and I prefer the sour stews. However the reason that I'm ducking 3 stars is because of kabob. It was so burned and dry and not much taste left. I was thinking should I return it to the kitchen or not. Heif!

Maycadeh is the worst restaurant I've tried in SF. The food is very primitive, very expensive, not worth the reviews I got from some people. If you are a plain meat and rice or rice and meat person then this is the place for you. I was disappointed when I saw the menu and even more when I looked at the prices. My local Persian grocery market has exactly the same food combination for about $6 to $10 max without all the pretention Maykadeh tucks in his high prices. The service is average, but the waiting time is ugly even with a reservation. For those European palates this is far from being a gourmet place.
Never again!

This place is good for dinner. Can get little crowded sometimes but they serve your food promptly. Parking is a problem there. They do valet service (not free) even if you spend $100 there. I don't trust valet drivers anyway. Food is pricey but delicious.

New chef I suppose, food was disappointing. Pita was dry and flaky. Entree was barely warm. Seems like it was heated up and not fresh.

Maykadeh referred Self Parking $20, no valet parking, $40 when valet parking was available. Exceptionally hard to find parking on the street within 5 blocks. If reasonably available park somewhere else in the city, and take Lyft. Will take less time then jockying and waiting for a space to come open.

Would have given a much lower score, but they used to be very good. Depending on my next visit, I will revise my rating accordingly.

---- previous experiences

A gem. Owned and managed by the same person, the attention to detail is wonderful.

Vegetarian options are available, but would like to see more options. Like Ghameh Badamjan Vegetarian with chunks of Mushroom instead of meat.

Entrees are wonderful.

The atmosphere is lovely, lively, and upscale.

Chinatown is an easy walk to enjoy before or after dinner.

Maykadeh was a great find when I was preparing for my certification in tourism.

I ve there a few times alone and with friends.

The food is tasty and the staff are so cheerful.

Their Chello Kebab is a winner. And what can I say about their Bastani & Faloodah Ice Cream!

I should of rate Maykadeh much sooner after many years going there. The are the best in every angle. The food is always good - they have a good constant standard. Not like many other Persian restaurants....one day you get over cooked kabab and another time not cook enough. 2nd, it is a well managed restaurant. That means they are polite, respectful, and great service. More importantly no attitude. The owner/manger from front desk all the way to the servant. Unlike most Persian restaurant that have some way of Persian attitude that they are doing you (the customer) a favor. Maykadeh always make you welcome. Mandana

Best place for grounded chicken dishes. Very close to Indian food. Restaurant has a good ambience, but quite small , we really had to wait outside the restaurant for 40min to get into this restaurant. Table reservation is highly recommended .Chicken in the pic is not grounded. I realised grounded chicken dish is more tasty than the one I ordered since it is very juicy and delicious , and that was my first choice later on ! If you are planning to visit this place, Chelo-kebab Chicken Koobideh is a must try !!

Fancy Iranian restaurant. Great service. A bit pricey for the quality of food. You have to find parking a bit further away otherwise it's $20 flat in the designated lot. Good for a one time visit.
