The short version: If you are on the fence, use these guys. The job will get done correctly and very efficiently.

The long version: Upon moving into my home in Frisco, I discovered I had a leak on the water main and an nonoperational curb stop. Being from Texas, I thought. Fine. I'll buy a shovel and deal with this myself. Then I found out the water line is (supposedly) 8 feet down. Guess not. Time to call someone else.

Maximum Services bid time and materials with a not-to-exceed of $10K and told me straight up there was no way it was going to be under $6K. The lowest bidder bid $1.8K. On paper, my decision to use this company maybe looks stupid. But they said all the right things. They clearly understood the permit situation and town quiet hours. They have dug around here before and knew about the special challenges with ground water. They planned to haul off and replace the excavated rock/mud and replace with new fill vs dump it back in the hole. And their plan for the dig didn't intrude onto my neighbors' property in tight quarters and create additional liability.

When they showed up with a big excavator, a bobcat, multiple pumps, two dump trucks, a giant silt bag, and 6 guys (counting the two dump truck drivers), I thought maybe this was overkill. When they were done, I realized how fortunate I was. The hole was 12 feet deep since the valve was actually 11 feet down. The ground water situation was absolutely insane and they quickly got another pump and silt bag. And they used all of that equipment for a full ten hours plus a couple hours the next day.

I'm so glad I used this company. Time and materials actually went a little over and they honored the verbally stated not-to-exceed. And looking at their rate sheet, their rates were reasonable for the various services included.

There is no way that material was going back into the same hole and the low bidder would have probably cost me even more once they figured out what they were getting into. And probably taken MUCH longer. These guys properly filled and compacted the hole as they worked their way back up. The work site was left in great shape.

Mark Nelson said he likes to under-promise and then exceed expectations. That is what I got. If you are digging in the Town of Frisco, do yourself a favor and use these guys. Outstanding crew. They know what they are doing, will treat you right, and will stand by their word.
