Good food, nice staff and breakfast served all day. Yummy breads and cookies to buy in the deli.

Food is very good as usual. Our server was very impatient and harried. He just threw our food plates on the corner of the table and moved on. Wish I knew his name.

Had the good luck to be waited on by 'Dan the Deli Man' was served some really excellent food, a dose of humor and some truly sage life advice and all at a very reasonable price

Good stuff but nothing is actually kosher. They say, "kosher style" to get you.

The first time here!! It is advertised on the radio so decided to drive down from Wisconsin. The reubens are to die for! Will definitely come back! And of course I had to take dessert home for later!!

Not a super fancy place, but the food is always awesome. We love the deli attached, always get something to go.

We have ordered three times since Max and Benny s offered their curbside service. We were thrilled with their box lunches, as we did it twice. Huge portions, complete meals. They thought of everything! Choice of chips or fruit. Many bread choices, as well as meats. Cole slaw, pickles. Condiments, napkins.

Tonight, we ordered one dinner and a child s sandwich. The dinner was amazing! Beef brisket with pea pods and carrots, potatoes, challah rolls and a big container of soup. When ordering, you chose your soup. You had a potato choice. The meal will also be tomorrow night s dinner as there was so much. The child s sandwich included chips, fruit cup and choice of a brownie or cookie. We opted for the brownie. So good.
We have been impressed each and every time. Ample portions. Very fresh everything. Didn t skimp on the napkins, plastic ware.

My favorite place for Ruben sandwiches. Big portions which are also priced appropriately. But you go in hungry and always come out with left overs. We have a lot of business meetings in there and thats very convenient to either grab a good breakfast or a hefty lunch which clients love and remember.

Wide variety of food to choose from and it is always good. Love the soups. Our service was quick with no mistakes in the 9 orders people placed at our table. The restaurant was clean and bright. I suggest reservations as it can get quite crowded.

Closest thing to a New York Deli in all of Chicagoland!

The waitresses have been great but the takeout pay counter is horrendous. Sid and the Hispanic woman with the blue greenish hair are the worst. Totally unprofessional and completely uninterested in common courtesy. Avoid like the plague if you want a decent experience!!!

Awesome server but food not quite up to par. Went on a Tuesday, late afternoon,, ordered "1/2 and 1/2" beef brisket on Kaiser roll and chicken tortilla soup. Brisket so tough I still had difficulty when I cut it with a knife and tried to chew it by smaller pieces. Soup came as creamy with no visible chicken or veggies and little flavor. !? Hubby said his corned beef and chicken noodle was good. For my $11.99 meal, 2 stars is all they get...just for service. In the deli area of store, all the employees seemed angry. Strange atmosphere.

Max and Benny s is a wonderful deli that brings me back to my childhood. My family would go to Oshkenas in Chicago on the far north side. Max and Benny s food is excellent and varied as well. Last time I was there I ordered a half corned beef and half chopped chicken liver sandwich. It was delicious!
On Sundays there usually is a wait, but never too long. This restaurant is so good it has expanded several times over the years.if you ve never been there, you ve got to go.

One of the best Jewish deli's around. Place is always packed and food is always delicious.

Max and Benny's saved me tonight. I was driving down to Skokie Hospital when I started to feel weak. I started to shake violently. I've never shook like that before this time. I felt like I was going to pass out. I was 1/2 block from the exit to Waukegan road. I took the exit. Across the street was Max and Benny's. I barely made it in there. They saw that I was shaky, sweaty and could barely walk. They helped me to a booth. I told them I was diabetic and was feeling like I was going to pass out. They immediately gave me a full glass of orange juice and bread. The O.J. helped my sugar and the bread stabilized it, so that my sugar wouldn't drop.

I still felt I was in trouble so I called 911 and now I'm better. Thank you Northbrook paramedics.
I'm home now.

Hands down, the best Ruben I've ever had. Anywhere in the world..Exceptional service , awesome food. Very clean and open for eating in. I'm already planning my next trip and meal there.

Been a customer for over 3 decades. Am a widower now, but come in to buy carryout for myself, and also my son who lives a few miles from me. And I order larger amounts for our family celebrations. 6:30pm on Saturday night, I came in and there was one customer ahead of me waiting at the deli. But the staff looked very stressed preparing phone-in orders. After 10 minutes of waiting, one of the deli clerks pushed a piece of paper and pencil at me and asked politely that I write down what I want. I walked out at that point, and it will be quite some time b/4 I consider returning. I know Max & Benny's does a fantastic business, but on occasion their arrogance is disturbing, and this is nothing new.. I don't blame the deli staff or cashiers (who I always tip!). They often appear to be overwhelmed, particularly behind the deli counter.. I blame management., plain and simple. You make a ton of profit --- please staff your deli counter in a manner they deserve to be served. And "no". this isn't due to the pandemic --- has been happening for a long time.

The food here is always good and the portions are immense. The service is always a coin flip. Sometimes it's great and they're very attentive and you're in and out in a reasonable amount of time; however, sometimes it can take 2 hours for a table of 4 to get through a meal because the server forgets about you. This wasn't a one off occasion. I go here frequently and I'd say you get bad service about 1/3 of the time. It's one of the best delis on the north side so if you're craving good Jewish deli food you can't go wrong just don't expect A+ service.

Had a meeting with my co-workers and had the space, good food, not too far from the job, everyone had space. Had another venue in mind but it had caught fire. This was a great alternate.

Fan freaking tastic! This is one of my absolute favorite local breakfast spots. Excellent selection of items both on the menu and in the bakery. I usually go with the lockbox plate and a coffee, although I'm sure everything else is absolutely delicious. Never really a wait, parking is quick and easy. Always busy ...probably because the food is so great!

Deli area had 7 employees, but just one helping customers. Walked out after an unnecessary ten minute wait. They couldn't care less. Awful.

6 years I've been sporadically visiting and the food is always amazing. The service is on point most of the time albeit the occasional grumpy server. I feel I get good value based on the exceptional food quality. 10/10 Will visit again in the future.

So, the deli food is good but the service behind the counter and at checkout is so bad that you should avoid!!!

Quick and safe takeout order. Was in the area and stopped in for 2 sandwiches, soup and fries. Definitely hit the spot!

As I m sitting and eating I have felt so uncomfortable as I was told THE OWNER.... says I can no longer mix the sweet cabbage soup with the mishmosh mind u this is my first time coming in the morning as usually me and guests or me and no my mother who always when she s in town wants to come for a bite to eat. I for YEARS!!! Have gotten the same thing the amazing soup and today it s a issue per the owner I can pay the difference or for both soups if need be . But the hassle don t bother coming in the am ! Staff is so so. Afternoon staff is amazing!
