Maurer Management Review

On May 22nd, 2020, I viewed a unit available at 27 South Summit Street. The unit itself was fine. I liked it, actually. I viewed it twice (first time was on May 16th, 2020), as my partner was unable to attend the first viewing. The first time I went, the owner was sitting outside on the front steps, and came inside with me to see the unit. I did not view the basement where the laundry was, the first time. The second time, when we got there, nobody was there. We decided to see if they were inside, since it was raining. So that's how we found out that the front door was unlocked. We still waited outside as we thought that was best. I called and asked about the appointment, and the women said she forgot, and that she'd send someone over right away. I don't fault them for forgetting. It happens. An employee of theirs came within a minute, so it's not like we waited long. We were showed the unit again, and then decided to view the laundry in the basement. Well, there was a sign on the basement door, that a tenant had obviously written. It was about a person who had been sleeping in the basement, that they were not welcome, and that it was up to the tenants to watch the building now. That shouldn't be the tenants responsibility. The employee said that people sometimes try to break in, and that it just happens in that area. All the more reason to install locks? The backdoor was also open, as it was kept open by a newspaper or some object. So, no building security. Both doors unlocked. Anybody is free to walk in and I guess sleep in the basement. There is no safety there. They live in a huge historic house next door, so you'd think they have the money to install some basic locks for the building they live right next to. I would not feel safe living there, and it should be up to the landlords to watch the unit and keep it safe. I've included a photo, if it uploads.

Maurer is absolutely the BEST leasing company in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor. They are a family run business and genuinely care about their tenants and properties. They are responsive, kind, and take their work seriously. If you are looking to rent in the area, they should be your first stop.

I ve rented most of my adult life, because of my job and constant relocation. These apartments look beautiful, and everything seemed to be what I needed when I viewed it. Wow, did I only see the surface view. Just so frustrating... Older appliances, leaky roof, plumbing problems, constant parking and trash issues, unkept hallways/common area, and walls are THIN! You can hear clear conversation in the neighbors apartment, which feels like you have a roommate you never wanted... Every time I pay rent, I think, what am I paying for? I cannot wait until my lease is up... never in my life have I dealt with such unprofessional, and rude management. What a disappointment overall. Keep apartment hunting. You ll find the right place.

As a local real estate agent when people ask for a good rental I always find myself recommending Maurer Management Properties and when I have clients that have rented from Maurer they ALWAYS speak highly of them..If you are going to rent in Ypsilanti this is no brainer.

We love our little studio apartment and have been so impressed by Maurer. The kitchen was freshly renovated and the apartment clean when we moved in. When something has needed to be fixed right away someone has been over within an hour or two. The rent is really affordable and the pet fee is only an extra $20.

Generally, in this area it can be hard to find a good, honest, and affordable leasing company to rent from. Maurer management by far is one of the best in the area, as they have gone the extra mile to meet each and every one of my needs. They are very responsive with maintenance requests, the historic buildings are absolutely stunning and they care about the service they give to each customer. I absolutely love my apartment and I would definitely recommend renting from them.

Ive live at that address in the same unit since March 3 2007.
I personally watch the bldg. Sometimes homeless use Octapharma Plasma for income or extra income.
In Inclimate weather people pick the locks to security doors,some tenants prop doors,they loose the keys. 13 yrs one place. Its good here.
