Absolutely love this place! The staff is very nice and the machines are clean and organized :). Our family went to Maui as my husband and I tied the knot on the beautiful beach in Makena! Even though we were there for vacation, we were glad to find somewhere to get a workout in! Thanks!!

Nicest gym on the island. All the equipment is maintained properly. The GM and owner has been there for years and he knows how to run a gym. They just remodeled the men's locker room ( not sure about the women 's lol but I am sure they did) and the place is kept real clean as opposed to the gym down the road. All kinds of people go here; young, seniors, every ethnic group, LGBT and all are accepted.

MPHG is a great, clean gym with all of the necessities and then some! The gym has a lot of well-kept equipment and I didn't see a single machine broken while I was there. They gym is kept well ventilated and cool without being freezing cold. They even have a water bottle fill station, which is very nice to have. Getting set up with a one-week pass was very easy. I'll absolutely train here again during my next visit!

Needed a place for me and my three sons to workout while on vacation on Maui. This place has something for everyone. $20 per day per person? So what, you are on vacation and paying for convenience. They have a great mix of machines and free weights as well as a ton of cardio. We were there in August in the middle of a major remodel and upgrade. Purchased a time share while there and intend on visiting often the next few years. This gym is not full of prima-donna, up in their head, all about me members. Just a great place that met all of our tourist exercise needs.

So grateful for this place! My partner and I got a temporary pass to use while visiting Maui and our experience was more than what we expected. The warm welcome from the friendly staff and management alone made us feel right at home. This gym is fully equipped. The change rooms have showers and a generously sized sauna. The ladies change room has hair dryers and the gym provides free towels for use also. All the little details make a difference, especially when your trying to travel light. So thank you Maui Powerhouse Gym for providing the goods!

As someone who teaches fitness and yoga full time I was impressed with the size and layout of the gym and how well the group fitness room was kept and stocked with a variety of props for the classes. They also have a spin room and separate group fitness/yoga room which is spacious and close to the change rooms. They have an assortment of classes you can try on top of an affordable membership for those looking for group style workouts. I feel it s a great way to meet people and connect..

Thank you to all the staff at Maui Powerhouse Gym- you enhanced our visit and we so look forward to coming back and working out at a place we can call home.

Lifes short guys, it feels good to spend it in the right places with the right vibe!

Aloha, love & until next time,

The cycle classes in this gym are fantastic. I have done a class Monday thru Friday and have found that every instructor is excellent. They all take great care in making sure all the participants understand how to set the cycle for maximum results. I have done many a cycle class from the mainland to the 24hour fitness on Maui and no one has better instructors that Powerhouse Gym. The instructors all need a raise!!!

Great gym. Decent amount of great equipment. Works great with a get in, lift, and get out type gym goers; like myself. I had my own music. All necessary lift items, towels, showers are provided. I enjoyed.

Just a big Mahalo to the owners for taking the extra step to keep the already clean gym extra sanitary during this viral pandemic. As a healthcare provider I appreciate being able to continue to keep my stress levels down with a good endorphin rush/calorie burn. Thank you for being part of the solution and not contributing to the mental health strain and chaos.

All of the owners are working the entire time I have been there, sanitizing everything and I see you!

Nice people nice place. Busy gym! A week pass is $80 or $25 for one visit.

For powerlifters there s a full power rack and one squat rack. One place to deadlift and two places to bench as well as lots of kit for accessories.

There s a no chalk policy so take straps etc. It suited what we needed for our visit and everyone was very friendly.

I was interrupted during my workout and instructed...

I was interrupted during my workout and instructed to call the health insurance company Right Now . I arrived at the gym, scanned my card, and received the green light. Fifteen minutes later, I was interrupted during my work out by this man saying that he called the active & fit program, and I no longer have the active & fit benefit. He asked me if I wanted the number to call them, and I said yes. He got me the number and told me to call Right Now to find out what was going on. I went to the restroom completely embarrassed because the gym employee treated me like that in front of other members, I got my backpack in the locker and when I was leaving the gym, the guy repeated audibly in front of other gym members that there was a problem with my membership.
I got home, and the first thing that I checked was the charge from active & fit on my credit card, and it was charged as usually as an autopay. I called the active & fit program, and they are trying to find out what happened.
But, this is the situation: I am the customer, I had the membership charged on my card, and I am using a benefit that I am eligible for, in a Gym that participates on the active & fit program, and I was treated like a criminal. How could I be treated that way, in front of other members, for someone that appears to be the least qualified person to take care of the situation?
With so many Fitness Clubs in this neighborhood, with a better price, I think it s time to look for a place where the employees treat us like customers, not like criminals. Whatever problem happened with the active & fit program and your company is not my fault. I could have had a better treatment, maybe even have finished my workout, and then have the situation explained to me. I felt disrespected and insulted by your employee. I hope other people don t have to go through what just happened to me.

We trained here as a one off as we were visiting the island for a few days. Drop in rate is expensive. Gym was good in terms of facilities but not a great vibe and no music playing. It's good just to experience a Powerhouse Gym but we probably wouldn't train here again.

I've been going to this gym for almost two years and absolutely love it! The staff is always so welcoming and kind, and they have been really diligent about keeping everyone safe during the pandemic.

As far as equipment goes- they have everything you would want for an awesome workout (squat rack, stair master, free weights, all the bands, so many machines, even a turf area) and they continuously add more when they notice a need by their members.

This is definitely a local favorite, but also a great spot for people traveling wanting to get a good workout in. I've been to many gyms in the area, and Powerhouse remains my favorite.

Thank you Powerhouse for doing such an amazing job, I'm so grateful for your entire team!

Gym has been improving every day after the new owner took over - always new machine - always new training tools - I have never had a problem with anybody sharing the machines - and am white and even the locals are super nice to me and that makes me feel even more at home - way better then in the waves for sure - the staff is polite and always available - this is a great gym for our community - the extended hours are an incredible extra kick to the service given to us - there is all kind of classes available - i see from the review there there is always somebody unhappy and I can see that there can be Miss healthy communication sometime - but my review is 10 stars - too bad I can only put 5

So the previous post claims "racism" at Powerhouse, sounds like someone was caught trying to avoid paying for a gym. Lots of freaks on Maui which is a downside. The gym however is totally awesome and very clean. Staff and patrons are very friendly and no issues at all. Can get busy around the usual 4-7 pm timeframe but after the rush, it's all yours! Love the gym, people, and Aloha spirit! Mahalo

Recently voted the BEST GYM IN MAUI. This last month, Wayne and Cathy took over the gym completely and are the only owners. They are some of the greatest people I have ever met! They also bought all new cardio equipment too which is amazing. Thank you guys and never leave!!

Was visiting the Kihei side for work for a few months and was searching for a gym amongst the Covid-19 pandemic. I looked at the nearby gyms and decided to choose Maui Powerhouse. Best decision ever!
I first inquired about pricing via yelp and got a reply within a few minutes from Peter. Sign up was quick and I got in my workout just about every day. The gym was open daily in the early morning through the late evening. I didn t have a car, so I rode the bus (because the gym was near the bus line!).
The reservation system was simple to use and the time frames for workouts were really convenient. They always shared a friendly reminder that they would close for a 30 min cleaning.
Cleaning supplies were handy throughout the gym and the members did a good job to clean their equipment after use.
One of my favorite aspects about the gym was the equipment. Expansive variety of leg machines, free weights up to 150 and a multi-purpose area. They also provided classes that seemed to be popular.
I highly recommend this gym... friendly staff and good vibes all around!

This gym has really great facilities, lots of machines, and it feels relaxed and clean. The REALLY big fan and AC keeps the place nice and airy too, not at all stuffy like some other gyms.

I attended a community class here, and it's so great that they let various instructors use their space for tons of interesting classes. The owner and manager, Peter Shenkin, especially does his best to be a good neighbor and a positive part of Maui's community. He takes his customers' wishes seriously and addresses any issue promptly and courteously to the best of his ability.

I'd definitely feel comfortable working out here regularly.

Pretty lax in regards to COVID regulations. Lots of people with masks pulled down. Almost everyone on the TMs had their masked down and when questioned at the desk the reply from an employee was "Well...what can you do?" Other than that it they have good weekly rates and it is a good place to get out of the sun to run..

Lots of machines and well cared for. Better than what I expected and read on reviews. Hence the 5 stars. I'm very happy I signed up for the week while on vacay. My husband also got a week so they gave us a little deal package. The price is market compared to where I'm from in Carlsbad/San Diego. I usually drop into CrossFit when travelling but opted out this week since paying for the gym + CF classes adds up; it was worth the save this time. The layout is well spaced, they've got everything you need to get in a good workout, not just machines. Yoga, barbells, showers, a sauna... I also row every day so seeing two erg models was pretty cool. I was slower on the older one, ha.

Not sure of the racism reviews here. I was concerned by those notes prior to visiting this gym because I'm black but I saw and felt zero issues. In fact, I was treated very well. The guy at the front desk was professional and did a great job prepping my paper work. I did get to meet the owner because I needed to ask a question. He seemed surprised to talked to me at first but was cool and gave me helpful advice. I felt very welcomed; my husband is white and he loved this gym too. So there you go.

The crowd here seemed serious - like making gains was the only thing on their minds. As a female prepping for my first fitness comp and being 3 weeks out, I dig that.

Got the week membership. Lots of fit folks (I am not one of them). But from what I have observed not a meat market like other gyms I've been to (yes, 24 Hour I am talking about you). A solid practical gym for those looking to focus on their routines and get out. Follow the rules. No dropping weights, no screaming, and rerack. Lots of benches and huge rack of dumbbells. It gets a bit hot inside, but I figured it's Maui. It's supposed to be hot. Kind of the reason I'm vacationing here, right? There is a large fan to stand in front of. Overall, gymgoers and the staff seem pretty cool.
