More than a museum of the famous Henry VIII's ship its a place that tells about the military life of the 16th century. You will not have a close access to the ship, but there are a lot of objects recovered and many information available.

Last went there 30 years ago. Since then they've righted the ship, stabilized the wood, and dried it out. They built a visitor experience that parallels the decks of the ship, which really brings both the ship and the artifacts to life. As to that the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable guides, and you have a perfect afternoon out.

I last saw Mary Rose was the year after she was recovered through a mist of water. What a transformation, she is now upright on her keel and preserved.

The layout of the museum and the interpretation of life on this Tudor ship is inspired and inspiring.

The ship is fantastic, but the day to day lives of those who served on her is fascinating.

A must see if you are in Pompey.

Great place, plenty of information, excellent COVID secure procedures in place, tells the story of the Mary Rose and its restoration very well. Recommended, although may not be ideal for small children.

Brilliantly conceived museum built around the remainder of the Mary Rose. A tragic event commemorated in a way that brings to life the crew of the ship and, indeed, is dedicated to their memory. Everything is done superbly well, balancing respect and remembrance with illustrations of life on board and the crew as vigorous, skilled men - surely how they would wish to be remembered. The Mary Rose is now completely visible and is a powerful sight. The artefacts and crew possessions displayed in a way that does a great job of connecting us in the 21st Century with the men of the 16th Century who were the crew. Highly recommended.

What a perfect way to display something like this....

What a perfect way to display something like this. With each level mirroring the decks, the lighting, the items being set in the positions they were found..... Everything makes it more real, leading you to feel what it must have been like to be on board living and working. LOVED every moment, was completely swept up in the whole experience. Cannot recommend it enough. For disabled es access it is open all areas.... No problems at all. Definitely a mest see when visiting Historic Dockyards. Like that it is acessable separately from the rest of the ships. Thinking of moving in.

A well laid out insight into what life was like in the Navy some 500 years ago. There are a large number of artifacts, well displayed on many glass cabinets with clear explanations of what they were used for. The Museum is in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard about as far from the entrance as you can get. However, for those with mobility problems there is a free "golf trolley" service between the Dockyard entrance and the Museum. Just ask and it will appear. Inside the Mary Rose museum there are racks of lightweight folding chairs which are easy to carry and well worth the effort as there is a lot to see and a lot of reading to do. Allow about three hours to see everything. If you need to have a break there is a cafeteria inside the museum. Why not a 5star rating? Well the whole of the interior is severely lacking in light and elderly people with failing eyesight may have difficulties.

A fantastic exhibition with lots of interactive displays plus engaging volunteers who explain various aspects of the ship (our 2 boys particularly enjoyed hearing about the Surgeon Barber and his tools). The way the ship is displayed is magnificent and really well thought out. Well worth visiting and it could easily take a couple of hours to soak up the history.
