We went to see a show we booked the box with unrestricted view we go to our box and there's a bloody great big bank of speakers in the way my wife ended up sitting on the stairs to the box for the whole show and still couldn't see all the stage and I could only see the far right of the stage and missed most of the show as it was left or centre stage this was brought to the attention of the staff who very rudely told me there had been no other complaints in the week run of the show and to get on with it.
And to add insult I complained via email through their web site to the head of the Marlowe and didn't even get an answer
My recommendation DON'T GO or don't pay for a box buy the cheapest seats you'll have a better view and don't expect service
oh and the ice cream tastes like fish never did get to the bottom of that one

A fantastic theatre, good views from all seats and a decent acoustic. They have the usual rubbish tribute bands and the like but also some high quality plays and musicians. You need to book well in advance for the better quality showed.

A lovely theatre, with lots of fantastic shows, from musicals, to comedy and stage plays. I've also been to a few great drinks receptions here and always found the staff to be helpful and friendly.

Great modern theatre, with good acoustics, in the heart of historic Canterbury. Check out the comprehensive website to see what's on. Content is diverse and changes frequently. We saw Omid Djalili on this occasion. He was excellent! Use a theatre trip as an excuse to take the opportunity to spend a day in this splendid City.

Sarah Millican was amazing and very funny, however we were disappointed with the venue for the following reasons:
Security was non-existent - no one checked bags at all, no-one on doors and no-one checking tickets. That is unforgivable in current times. We saw people with back-packs entering the theatre, they could have contained anything as no-one checked them!
Sound quality poor in stalls
Badges promised by Sarah Millican were not available until nearly everyone had left- staff were not available to hand them out!
There should be a centre aisle as we had to stand up to let people past far too many times - a centre aisle would resolve this rather than people having to access the middle of a row from either end.

Lovely theatre but no ticket check: I went with 3 friends to see John Mayall on 11th November and I was horrified to find that we walked straight into the theatre from the street to our seats without a single ticket check nor security check whatsoever. In view of the need for heightened security in public places, I found this most disconcerting.

Kinky Boots at the Marlow Theatre was absolutely brilliant, the only thing that I would say is parking around Canterbury in the evening for theater outings is becoming a real problem, I would leave earlier if using the Duck Lane or the car park behind the Westgate hall as they were both full and so was most others, other than that it's a nice theater.

One of the finest theatres outside London, modern, spacious, great sight lines and superior acoustics.

There are in fact two stages, the main auditorium holding around 1100 seats and a much smaller room for around 250, roughly, great for comedy nights etc.

It really pays to keep an eye on the upcoming productions' schedule as there are many remarkable talents visiting all year round.

Only disappointment is the size of the cafe/restaurant which is instantly full on any theatre night. Fortunately there are two excellent restaurants (one English and one French) directly in front of the theatre with total seating for 170. The Theatre also has several bars.

There are some great and unique views of the city, with its cathedral-dominated sky-line especially visible from the upper floors (all accessible by lift) so bring a camera!

Enjoy the show!

Fantastic theatre.. modern with acoustics far better than most west end theatres.. better pieces and big shows too.. bar prices are expensive but you expect that.. always get there early as queue at bar is often long!! Will always use here when big shows come.. great place..
