Don't expect a wholesome country market when you come here. Because it is located in a mall, all of the product is luxurious. Would be a nice place to buy your mom an expensive gift but other than that just another hipster take on a grocers market.

Market & Co.
17 gourmet food restaurants/shops. All of them with their own unique flair, all of them serving delicious and quite healthy meals, if you're looking for that...Of course, some also serve those with a sweet tooth!
Good market to go on Winter (cold days) when outdoor activities are limited. Good but a bit pricey restaurants and stores. Fish store has good variety.
Cool addition to Upper Canada Mall. It can be pricy.
Plenty of sitting space. I often come here to complete school work. Very inspiring and trendy workspaces. Overall, the design is appealing. Village Juicery is for sure my favourite!
Opening night at Midici. 7:30 p.m. Stood in line for an hour and a half - just to order! Waited another 40 minutes for 3 pizzas. Still don't understand the wait to order? Everywhere else you go, you walk right up to the counter and place your order...then you wait for your food to be made. I would like to know from the owners the thinking behind this.
So sad to hear the Midici just closed! I also saw that Sweet Jesus closed. I don t know if it s a lack of marketing or what, but I have been rooting for all the vendors and they can t seem to be viable for more than a year. I hope the Mall management finds an answer to it because it s really unfortunate that these businesses and their employees are struggling. If the people of Newmarket and surrounding areas appreciate this place they re going to have to spend some money here.
De-constructed Whole Foods!! Organic marketing garbage!! Swiss Chalet is better than Union Chicken!
Very few vegetarian and vegan meal options. The pasta place had a hard time accommodating us and even then we ended up paying the price of non veg menu item ($20 for pasta and tomato sauce yikes!). Too bad I had such high hopes.
This is a nice new place for eating in the mall but the prices are too high in my opinion. I think we'll wait to see if they survive.
Omg delicious hot chocolate from Starbucks and pastries from cakes and coffee, bought some shrimps to take home. I love this place
Fantastic variety of goumet delights for foodies. There us an organic bakery, pizza place, butcher, juice store, farm stores and more. Worth a visit as is a sort of upscale food emporium
What a disappointment!!!!! Not much other than everything seemed overpriced. Have no idea why it is called "The Market" when there is no more there than a few specialty shops and pricey restaurants with very limited menus. We expected to be able to buy some nice fresh fish at Peir 87 but most are packages of frozen. Very little fresh anything. We had been told by several other people what it was like but we had to see for ourselves. They were right. We will not return.
What a great selection of food! I love coming here with my wife when we go shopping. The quality of the food here is great. You can buy food or groceries.

Ate at 2 restaurants here. Disappointed both times. Pier 87: long wait time and food did not taste good or fresh. Had a better lobster mac and cheese from a food truck. Just visited Midici pizza. Food was good, but it was not worth waiting 45 minutes for wood oven pizza. My order also came out 20 minutes before my friend's order. Weird system. Just not worth our time or money. The market does have a good selection of stores to buy someone a gift though.
Such a beautiful place. Really trendy, cool and new. Lots of food. It's a neat place to check out. I always go through here to get to the mall.
The overall look is very European Like with an urban feel; fresh markets, a bakery , unique restaurants etc. The book exchange was a cute French touch. HOWEVER, we had TWO bad experiences in our first visit. Our first exchange with a restaurant on the south side, we walked in to hopefully order only a cafe at the bar. We were rudely and abruptly stopped by a server that said are you here to order or just look around? . A bit taken back. She then told us we had to wait in line. What happened to Greet the customer, say hello welcome them, at least smile ..by doing this alone we would be more than happy to wait in the 20 min line. So , we decided to leave and discover other options in the market. The second bad experience really was an eye opener. I don t care how beautiful the pastessieres are, when a server cannot and does not greet customers with hello , a smile and at the end of the transaction say have a nice day or at least thank you , I will not return. The storefront and pastessieres may be colourful and beautiful, they look delicious, but placed with poor service it quickly turns ugly and unapppealing. Ordering a miachiato and a macaroon was another painful ordeal. As soon as a server gets pretentious about coffee details, an American or Italian miachiato or say raspberry with attitude, please as much as we would like to tell these people a few things about what service should be in any great business, don t waste your time and your money ..,move on to the next retaurant/cafe. They will be more than happy to serve you and take your business. We have been to many cafes and Pastissieres on our travels, including authentic French shops and NEVER have we been greeted and treated so poorly.... at this point I was over it, the experience totally turned me off, in the first 30 minutes total disaster. This beautiful place turned ugly. But we didn t want to give up on this place Lucky for other vender shops, we were more than happy to skip across the room with other great options. We did try the build your own muffin, and icecream/cookie shop (great staff, very helpful and great service! (5 stars) :D. ( great quality) Then again there is always the old American starbucks , the great thing is that they have great flowered patio area with umbrellas and a lot of seating outside. Very nice to have a drink and do some work, or read. (5 stars for service and experience!) and to no surprise they are located at prime location and space in the market , right at the entrance.
Great vibes and very niche, local foods, boutiques, and markets. A lot of variety and decent prices. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Went to Amano and the food was delicious, and much of it was made in-house or locally! I love supporting Canadian vendors.
vegan options, people were very friendly. Soup was amazing, bread was delicious. vegan Raspberry square was so good we went and got friends and came back!
Cleaning lady is very rude and dictates which washroom stall can/can't be used so she won't have to clean. I didn't appreciate her tone and the way she blocked our way.
No trying to be a Debbie Downer, but this is not what Newmarket needs, this is more of a Yorkdale kind of thing.
Wonderful place.. what an amazing place! Everything we tried was great. We will be back!
Nice wood interior , alot of variety . Sushi , coffee ,soup , and desserts . There is still alot more . Always something new happening there . I love it
A first of its kind in Canada's retail space offering by Oxford Properties to bring a trendy food market mixed with restaurants that is trendy, very noisy but yet oddly attractive and enticing to the shopper seeking a taste of posh from the traditional food court experience. Large-format food markets of this type will be the norm for landlords and it will be an alternative offering for those consumers willing to pay for the culinary experience.
Overpriced merchandise. Your better off at a local farmers market than having to walk around looking for great organic quality foods.
Everything leading up to this did not paint the rght picture. Everything is heavily over price it is crowded noisy it was supposed to be a farmer's market it is not it's an assortment of random businesses and here's an idea of what you can get a small round smaller that a small pie cake for over $50 it's.inzsane and wine tasting why is that in a "farmer's" market some I get with the seafood place but there isn't enough of what it was supposed to be I left not buying anything and left with more than I came with and that was dissatisfaction and disappointment I will come back if things change would not be surprised if businesses to bankrupt or market and co gets shut down
Nice indoor market. I can see us coming here often during winter time. No so much for summer and spring. Prices are a bit expensive on most of their stores. The pizza place is good but pricey.
Seems very out of place with a random collection of overpriced stores. Like another reviewer said, this belongs at Square One or Yorkdale. Prices too expensive for Newmarket residents and location too far for GTA people! Wrong place to try and gentrify!
What a gastronomical delight. Reminds me so much of what I saw In Boston. Big city life comes to Newmarket. Such a varied choice of options to eat rather than the standard food court. I don't often go to malls but Upper Canada Mall has so drastically improved their services and shopping experience I think I have to return.Highly recommended. Hope to see more of this.
It was my first time at the Upper Canada Mall. The Market & Co. was a really nice market place located inside the mall. They have some very special shops for desserts, pizza, Japanese food & much more. You can easily access all of these small shops in one area.
Interesting concept, extremely poor execution. How can there be no communal eating area?!? If I want to eat at Union Chicken, but my child wants pasta, why does someone have to concede. All dining areas are contained within the vendors' area. You cannot bring food from one vendor to the other vendor's area. St. Lawrence market has a communal eating area, as does Assembly Hall and Eatly.
Go to the food court. Don't spend any money at the gigi places here. I'm not cheap and usually spend $30 at Mac Sushi. Here, I don't spend a dime as everything is overpriced and not worth it. And think about it, it's all probably stale as nobody buys.
Very fancy, couldnt find anything nut and egg free for my son, everything is overpriced.
So today I ordered an "strawberry honey basil italian soda" from Amano Kitchen. It took a while for someone to noticed me at the front counter, but I wanted to try a soda on their menu so I waited... When someone finally came over I ordered my drink & again it took a while to make this soda. When i finally got it, I kind of sped out of there before trying it because I didn't want to wait there any longer. When I did try it it tasted only like club soda. I was expecting something like Basil Box's delicious rose + pineapple soda! But no, I saw her put like a can and a half of club soda, and the tiniest amount of the strawberry syrup & 2 small bruised basil leaves... I paid almost 6$ for club soda with a hint of strawberry... I threw it out as soon as I had the chance. Also the idea of honey being in the drink is nice and all, but if you can taste it then it shouldn't be advertised in the drink in the first place. Maybe it was there but the girl certainly didn't put enough to leave even a hint of honey. Also given there being two bruised & basically grey/brown basil leaves, there was also no basil flavour. Surprise surprise.... Try the drink for yourself, I hope they fix it before someone else decides to try it. They need to test the drink out, and see how much syrup + basil + honey they need to actually taste it... Ill stick with basil box soda's... which are quite tasty and a few bucks less than the club soda drink I had... I don't plan on returning
What a great upper class selection of food, desserts and drinks. Such a wide variety of tastes to try with all so many different restaurants. Please click like if you found this helpful. Cheers!
Very nice place to go for organic wholesome food. The market is clean and feels newly renovated. It is spacious and family friendly. There are a variety of food selection. I recommend the smoked meat sandwich from Seed to Sausage or the Fried Chicken Burger from Uniun Chicken.
Well-decorated, community designed space for bakeries, snacks, and meals with public seating. Also sometimes hosts cooking classes
Pizza place did not honour the discount coupon and was told to use it at an other outlet for desert and food did not meet my satisfaction so won't return.
So far I am underwhelmed. Two weeks after opening, several businesses are still not fully functioning, For example, Union Chicken still doesn t have it s takeout counter open. Several businesses are understaffed and often poorly trained. At Pier 87 today I ordered fish & chips and a drink to go. It never occurred to me to check they had got my order right, nope they forgot the drink causing to have to return to the store.
This was supposed to be the last stop of our craft beer tour. There was a reception happening and we were told we should have checked their website to see if there was an event. Rude service, at very least should have apologized and offered an alternative or pint at a later time
Excellent stuff here . The pizza is absolutely fantastic
**vegetarian/vegan warning** The vegan and vegetarian pizzas are not actually meat free. Watch the pizza makers. They pick up the meat products with the same gloves that they touch the cheese and vegetables with. There's even pesto from the pesto chicken all over the mozzarella from this cross contamination. I informed a staff member about this and was rudely dismissed.. Went to the Italian place to try the pizza. Stone oven pizza should have a nice smoky flavour to the crust and be light and airy... Although there was some flavour to the crust it was only on the edges.. the pizza was very soggy and I was very disappointed in the mere 3 pieces of basil.. it should be at least one piece a slice. The pizza was almost flavorless. Honestly I wish I had salt. still good just not great. Went to sweet Jesus. The mango and coconut "ice cream" is a sorbet. I liked it! The icecream was good too. Very messy- I recommend getting it in a cup not a cone. The staff is very handsy with the food which grossed out my guest a little. Went to the chip place. The chips are great! The dips are not. I recommend the sweet potato chips. I went to the seafood place and ordered some oysters. The oysters were a bit fishy...still good but not great. The staff was a bit edgy. I'm wondering if the mayhem of everyone going here is the reason the staff is so consistently "off".. too much stress? This might be a better spot when things die down a little.
Checked out the stores, didn't care for much other then the dessert place and the chips store. Everything else is not my taste of food
I could smell the elitist foodie vibes walking around, and saw through it. There's more of these now....all these kiosks are set up to look slick and shiney and appear to be much higher end, and the proposition to the consumer is to pay more for a higher quality product. But the food being sold by many is quite expensive and I just don't see an increased level of flavour or quality that justifies that level of price increase. For the prices being charged the fam and I could go to a real restaurant with an independent location. I"m sorry I've had better food from good food trucks, and it cost much less. This is the game now. Get people to drop loads and loads of cash for much less on their plate, get them buying the concept that shiny equipment and trendy digs = better food. You can dress up an average Honda any way you want, but when you try to sell it to me insisting it's a Bentley, I'll still be looking under the hood and seeing it's just a Honda. Food here is just 'ok' for me.
Although looks nice, pretty small and not much to do. It takes about 5 minutes to walk through the entire place. The vendors there are very niche and the prices are pretty high, especially for Newmarket. The soup place is quite expensive at 10$ a soup jar which is is more than any other place around, the GF bakery with very high prices but very small pastries and not so high taste , Amadeus with their very high prices for pastries which are about double than what pastries cost in bakeries around (and don't start with the quality, their tart shells are industrial), the make your own ice cream sandwich or make your own ice cream and all the others, which as someone wrote in the review, may be suitable for yorkdale mall where there lots of rich people who don't mind throwing away money, but much less suitable for Newmarket where people are less willing to part with their hard earned cash.
The chicken place in market and co at upper canada is the worst place I ve ever been. one of the waiters was highly disrespectful and he pushed over my coke and proceeded to demand me to clean it up. he kept trying to get us to leave and he tried to take my bag. he kept telling us to hurry up and get out. i feel harassed and sad. he kept talking down to me and trying to make me feel less than i am. they gave me uncooked chicken and when I proceeded to ask for a refund he kept trying to kick me out.
Drove from out of town, excited to see this new market I had been hearing about. Beautiful construction and product. Walked around the different shops and not one of the staff greeted us although it was 2pm and not busy. Everyone was heads down on their cell phones. We heard great things about the Italian restaurant so walked over and to our delight, it had many open tables. Instructions said to order from concierge and grab a seat. With no customers ahead of us we waited at the concierge for 3 minutes and the staff on the other side of the counter completely ignored us. I asked if this was the right spot, and they responded that they weren't taking orders for another 5 minutes. My friend and I left and went to main street for lunch. What a disappointing customer experience. If that is truly the case and there are a number of employees standing there not doing much but assembling food order chits, please learn how to communicate to potential customers or you will not see success.
Extremely overpriced and small. I tried to get a table for two today at the pizza place around 3pm and I was told they were closed even though they had some empty tables. Apparently they got very busy at lunch and they were trying to catch up .... not a good way of running a restaurant in my opinion.
Good, diverse place. I like the seafood place a lot.
Many varieties of foods. Different from normal food court.
It's great place for delicious gourmet food and desserts. I like it as St. Lawrence Market style makeover.
We had an excellent experience at this place. We liked the superb atmosphere and the food. The waiters were super affable. I am glad we eventually managed to try this restaurant.
Nice new concept for indoor malls. We had a good experience. We will be coming here a lot during the cold months.
>Went to Midici pizza >was told it will take half an hour in line >half an hour passed >Told me wait another half an hour >Random people start cutting in line because they say they are reserved >one hour passed >finally able to order >One of the pizza was cold >1/10 FML
I very much enjoy this market. A diverse selection of food and drink....and most importantly dessert! Highlights for me include, the ice cream sandwiches, make on fresh baked cookies from "Bake Three Fifty" and the pork belly BLT from "Seed to Sausage". After living in Toronto for 10 years and moving north of Newmarket, I have struggled to find niche food/beverage selections. I'm so happy that Market & Co. has joined our community!

Great place for pretentious rich population who enjoy gourmet calories. Big contrast with the mall which stucks in 1980s.
