4 Stars for Food. 0 stars for Service. Thanksgiving reservations for 2 at 6PM. We were excited to dine here albeit a change in our regular Thanksgiving plans. We were early and were seated quickly. Started with a drink order and our choices from their Thanksgiving menu. While we received an amuse bouche and making small talk, I mentioned it was odd that there was a butter knife and bread plate but no bread. The tables that flanked us were seated with new diners also wishing to celebrate Thanksgiving. They got bread. I did not hear one of the tables asking for them. Irksome. We received our dishes and they were fine. It is what you would expect from JG. Our cocktail glasses were empty and we wanted to order a second round. They were empty for a bit. Cocktail glasses or drink glasses should never remain empty. When we got our appetizers, we took the opportunity to order the second round since that was the next time a server came to our table. They became empty again. Again, when we got our entree, we asked for wine for my husband because that was the next time a server approached our table. Our desserts were ho hum but I wanted to cap off the night with a little limoncello and my husband, port. Then the digestif glasses were empty. For a long time. We were waiting for someone to check in on us - maybe for the first time of the night so that we could ask for the check. 30 minutes. We hijacked a server that was giving a check to the table next to us. At that point, we figured we'd either do that or wait who knows until when? When we received the bill, I asked our server what we should have done differently to warrant the type of service our neighboring tables received? Or maybe not have done? I mentioned how from the start, starting from the bread, the service was below par. He said he would ask the server why he didn't bring the bread. "Do you really think it's about the bread?" I asked? We were comped $90 for some drinks but if you know their menu and the cost of the Thanksgiving menu and what their drinks cost, then you know what we spent. One shouldn't have to spend that nor have to ask what they should/not have done to get better service.
JG, I'm sorry but there are too many great restaurants (yes even during these trying times) that would not have provided us with this experience and deserve our patronage. I hope your Thanksgiving was better.
