4 Stars for Food. 0 stars for Service. Thanksgiving reservations for 2 at 6PM. We were excited to dine here albeit a change in our regular Thanksgiving plans. We were early and were seated quickly. Started with a drink order and our choices from their Thanksgiving menu. While we received an amuse bouche and making small talk, I mentioned it was odd that there was a butter knife and bread plate but no bread. The tables that flanked us were seated with new diners also wishing to celebrate Thanksgiving. They got bread. I did not hear one of the tables asking for them. Irksome. We received our dishes and they were fine. It is what you would expect from JG. Our cocktail glasses were empty and we wanted to order a second round. They were empty for a bit. Cocktail glasses or drink glasses should never remain empty. When we got our appetizers, we took the opportunity to order the second round since that was the next time a server came to our table. They became empty again. Again, when we got our entree, we asked for wine for my husband because that was the next time a server approached our table. Our desserts were ho hum but I wanted to cap off the night with a little limoncello and my husband, port. Then the digestif glasses were empty. For a long time. We were waiting for someone to check in on us - maybe for the first time of the night so that we could ask for the check. 30 minutes. We hijacked a server that was giving a check to the table next to us. At that point, we figured we'd either do that or wait who knows until when? When we received the bill, I asked our server what we should have done differently to warrant the type of service our neighboring tables received? Or maybe not have done? I mentioned how from the start, starting from the bread, the service was below par. He said he would ask the server why he didn't bring the bread. "Do you really think it's about the bread?" I asked? We were comped $90 for some drinks but if you know their menu and the cost of the Thanksgiving menu and what their drinks cost, then you know what we spent. One shouldn't have to spend that nor have to ask what they should/not have done to get better service.
JG, I'm sorry but there are too many great restaurants (yes even during these trying times) that would not have provided us with this experience and deserve our patronage. I hope your Thanksgiving was better.

I am writing regarding the dinner we had on September 18th at your establishment.

Overall, the service was some of the poorest I ve experienced in Manhattan and by far the worst experience at a JG restaurant. It took multiple attempts to have our orders taken, and then our first course was brought out so late that we nearly left.

When the first course was finally served, we had to wait - again - for someone to bring the correct utensils.

We were there to celebrate a birthday and ended up having one of the worst evenings out this year. We could clearly see the staff socializing and distracted - and clearly NOT paying attention to our table -; which makes the delays and poor service even less excusable. At this price point, it is frankly unacceptable.

Sort of disappointing. Most of the food was great, but the service left a little too be desired. With Jean George's name on it, I had high expectations that were not fully met. The shrimp and avo salad was simple and divine. Lobster risotto was also incredible. The menu gave no clue that the halibut would be so spicy, so much that it distracted from all the other lovely nuances of the dish. Lastly, the wait staff seemed somewhat clumsy and uncoordinated. Couldn't believe how many times my chair got kicked when the next table was being attended.

Food most enjoyable!

Food most enjoyable!
Pity that some staff are obviously lacking in experience of high-level hospitality service.

Dinner for 4 at table 32 tonight took 3 hours. Two of us had artichokes with mustard sauce. The sauce was brought in a tiny container and I had to ask for two more. Service was terrible and it took 15 minutes. I had a lobster burger, one of our friends had pasta, one had sashimi one had pizza. Clearly, there was something wrong between our server and the folks in the kitchen. We had the sense that they were punishing her and we were victims. Also, the chairs are peculiarly designed and most uncomfortable. They know this and have designed pillows if you ask. RIDICULOUS

I really enjoyed the cook of the steak and the crispy sushi. Aside from that, everything was really really mediocre. The shrimp was dry, artichoke dip was watery, the sauce for the steak was overly too strong in acidity.

Jean George should be ashamed to lend his name to this less than mediocre fare. The Caesar salad was unpresentable and had an odd taste, the burger was simply bad meat, I asked for rare, got well done, my wife ordered a $66 lobster, it came overcooked with no taste. The only thing good about the meal was the entertainment provided by guests checking into the hotel each with their own idiosyncrasies.

First and foremost reservation........ reservation.......... reservation!!! Now with that said me and a good foodie friend initially went here to sit at the bar and nosh, on an early after work Friday. Surprisingly the bar was packed and luckily they were able to accommodate us for the restaurant without a reservation seeing as they were fully committed.

The staff from the door to the table simply amazing . My girl whom had done the bar once before was on the Cucumber Martinis..... Delish isn't even enough..... All I can say a great light refreshing cocktail year round. What is to be said it was all up hill from there as the crispy chicken samosas were amaze and the crispy octopus was to die for (and if you know me I'm all for a great octopus dish anything preferably grilled). OMG the pan seared scallops....... one word "Heaven" .

So basically this was a decadent delectable foodie experience to be had at least twice to maybe three times a year (be prepared to drop a grip.....though worth it but be prepared). So in for a summer rotation. This may become my fav spot.

two days ago was our first time we visited this restaurant. But It is definitely not the last time. We enjoyed the evening a lot with the efficient service, with the magnificent dishes and booze and with the comfortable pay. We will definitely visit there again.

Ordered their Valentine's Day package. Waited an hour in their lobby with many people telling me the order was coming. Ended up leaving after they finally said they couldn't find the order. Absolute chaos: avoid.

I came for my girlfriend s birthday and we loved the food here, the parmesan crusted chicken was delicious, the scallops were so fresh and cooked right, the cream tomato soup was really good, nothing to complain about. They have an exceptional service. Definitely coming back soon.

Denial of Service

Denial of Service
Today I went to the restaurant at 12:25pm and asked if they had a table available for 2 people. I was told that they where booked and that the next available table was for 2pm. My friend, a white NYer, joined me at 12:30pm and he asked for a table. They promply gave him a table and we sat for lunch. There was an empty table next to us and a couple walked by and said they didn't have reservations. The maitre d' gave them the table next to us. When I complained to the manager after our meal he pretended to be ofended and never apologized.

Underwhelmed by the whole experience - the food is okay, the service is slow, the ambiance is also okay.

We had to wait for everything a long while considering there was only 4 tables total set down at different times its strange.

All our hot drinks were close to room temperature when served.

We had to wait for requested blanket 10 minutes and figure out how to turn on heater by our table ourselves.

When one of our friends tries to order an egg croissant w avocado, he was served 2 plain mini croissants w avocado slices on a separate plate which we thought was hilarious.

We had to look around and wave at employees to get attention each time.

We ordered
Pancakes, 2 eggs w sausage and home fries, 2 mini croissants w avocado slices and spent close to $100 with tip.

There are plenty more restaurants with better food and service on UES.

Just skip and go next door to Sant Ambroeus.

Lovely location and good service add to the overall nice lunch with a girlfriend. Nothing outstanding but a you can count on a tasty meal. Large selection to choose from. Fettuccine with lemon zest half order paired with veal Milanese makes me happy! Shout out to Rocco for his continued professional service.
