I've never heard of a French Buffet, but somehow people classify MM as one. They specialize in French seafood and fly in regional varieties daily.

I've done the 5 course set dinner menu which changes often enough that I'd consider it seasonal. Obviously items are subject to change due to availability. I found the food to be prepared and plated with excellence. Personally I found some to be amazing in flavor and others not so much. I went with the caviar because it was the most French to me (sashimi, uni and dungeoness crab all seemed worldly and certainly not French). The blini was soft, pliable and a nice medium for the smokey, briney and flavor packed caviar, small of course. Tuna and faux gras. Not fois gras. The CA ban has loopholes like giving it away. Interesting mix because the tuna also had ponzu truffle butter and here I'd believe they use the real thing. Truffle fries do not have truffle oil, you'd know by taste and you'd be paying $20+ for fries. Both the lobster and halibut dishes were excellent, but far to complex for me to remember the sauce. By now I've had a few drinks before the wine pairings so I honestly can't remember what I had as far as drink anymore. Green Tea and Pistachio gelato to go with a macaroon, unfulfilling as far as appetite goes. I went with the cheese plate which had some. If I recall had more non-French selections than French. It was great and setting us up for eating.

I really blew money in my other 3 times here. Loved tuna sashimi. Coconut vinaigrette, wakame salad. Excellent. The crab with the pickled veggies sounded more appealing than the more French version. Boudin Noir, oh lovely velvety rich blood sausage. Amazing. Don't get the oysters, fresh, but $18 for a half dozen, may as well go to Shuck and I didn't find them any better. Bone marrow was hearty and left me wanting more. The pork belly spoons is more an appetizer, but worth a try for the bacon lover, which is everyone. I stayed away from the steak tartar based on price and went with the Toasted Spanish Octopus. Subtle, warming, classic, I felt very French eating these. Pomme Frites are twice fried, made nightly and first come first serve, so order and come early and hope you get one. They are delectable and that's hard to say about fries. The Belgian's perfected it though.

Service of the food was excellent, but not cordial in the sense they were helpful and attentive. You get a French experience of fine dining and good food, but not necessarily a good time. I think that's why the French drink so much, jk. I was not impressed with it all in all. I only got a good table once and I wasn't willing up financially encourage a change. Perhaps it's because I'm used to equal money, equal service. It's expensive to eat the way a normal foodie eats here and don't' take someone here who doesn't like French food or isn't adventurous or a wino. A lot of money can be spent on just wine.

I've heard so much about this place that I went in with big expectations, I was really disappointed that they didn't have 1 vegan option, all of the 5 star restaurants that I have been at have at least one option Even McDonald's has vegan options, I called before hand and they let me know they would make something special for me but when I arrived they said they didn't have anything. My son ordered the coq au vin and said it was the worst dish he's ever had at a restaurant, my husband ordered the tartar and it was very average. Service was decent... I was extremely disappointed and I would not recommend this place.

Beautiful location with a visible kitchen. The food is beautifully prepared, and unique enough that it isn't seen everywhere. Wonderfully plated, thoughtfully executed, fairly priced. The drinks are fun too.

I tried all summer and tried to get details on a wonderful restaurant and location. I went a few times initially, and very hard to get calls back. Once I had a reservation, another time went at 5 pm at the bar no reservation. They need to work on calls back to customers and overall customer service. I called 2 times today, and will go somewhere else. I tried this morning and at 4 pm...... someone should be all over the calls/scheduling if they want to be successful. Otherwise they will fail like the several others before them, and we will wait for the next debacle. not impressed overall if they can't work these initial kinks out. bread, pattee, cheese, and perrin carafe french wine amazing on a positive note.

Very good food and very good service. The location may put you off (it's in the South Coast Plaza mall) but you will surely enjoy your time. Unfortunately you may not enjoy the bill, but it is possible to eat for a reasonable price if you stay away from the exotic French fare.

This used to be hands down my favorite restaurant in OC even though they have lots of hits and misses. Unfortunately, after multiple visits where I received poor service I decided I'm fed up with it.

The straw that broke me was coming in with a large group of people who spent a fair amount of money on our dinner. I didn't like my dish at all, and the waiter suggested they re-plate it in the kitchen with a different side rather than just offer me a new dish or taking it off the bill. I mean, common, you'd think after all these years of coming here I'd get treated better. You can't "fix" a bad dish. You trash it and make a new one.

A few weeks prior I was there with my son and wife for brunch. We ordered a plain omelette for him, which he didn't like because it was too runny (not their fault - it's just his first time eating a french omelette). I let the waiter know and he did absolutely NOTHING about it. In fact they came and took it off our table but then proceeded to charging us the full price of the omelette (which wasn't even discounted for being plain).

Sorry Marche, but you've lost my business.

A regular stop when I go out for breakfast. Service is excellent, food is very very good, a little pricey but not unreasonable considering the portions. Much more than just bacon and eggs.

Great food, great drinks, great location. I'd recommend making a reservation as it's usually booked but there is open seating at the bar. The food can be a bit eclectic in ways but you won't be disappointed .

I went to this restaurant last night (10/28/2019) and ordered 2 bone marrow appetizers, which was great and 2 white fish dinners from the "todays market fish (50 bucks) " section and my fish was pretty raw and definitely not cooked through. They cooked me another fish dish which took about 20 minutes or so, and in the mean time shared my wife's fish and took the other home. A sorry was given with no discount on the mistakes. Total bill $200, left a $30.00 tip. No tip on the messed up fish.

Let me just give you a word of advise DO NOT EAT HERE the kitchen cleaning habits are bad to put it nicely, it's a filthy kitchen who cuts corners , considering how much they charge it shouldn't be like this at all. I have many friends who work there and the horror stories are neverending.

The best Oc restaurant without a doubt, the quality of ingredients, the menu can be very modern and very French at the same time,
The service is great, very classy and comfortable. Very well run establishment.

My wife and I went to Marche Moderne on a recommendation and on the strong reviews. Unfortunately for us, the week before we went to a small little Italian restaurant in Orange that was in a strip mall. I think I'm more of a strip mall kind of guy.

Though my steak and my wife's coq au vin were filled with flavor, we found the service to be a little cold and the atmosphere to be a little uninviting. And frankly, though the food was definitely good, it did not comprise (in my opinion) a good value for the price.

Am glad I went but I won't be in any hurry to go back.

Excellent french cuisine restaurant in Newport Beach. Located in the Crystal Cove plaza this small but elegant bistro delivers in terms of decor, choice of plates and ambience. The food was delicious and brilliantly paired with a subtle Cabernet that allowed the flavors in the food to pop. Only negative aspect was the electronic music playing, but that will not prevent me from going back.

Lovely evening. Super food and friendly service in a relaxed and attractive environment. By the time we hand finished eating and chatting we had been there 3 hours but the time had flown past.

Legendary service and food! First time back since they relocated from South Coast Plaza and they couldn't have picked a better spot to showcase their amazing food and great selections of wines and champagne. Valet parking is available.

Their weekly curbside pick up dinner are Soooo delicious. I have tried all their seafood dinner. Besides the entree, the starter, salad and dessert are all very tasty and delicate. This week s Osso Bucco is another Best.
I am waiting for next week s menu.
