This place has gourmet tacos and is situated in McArthur park- a true blend of intersecting cultures. In addition, this place has history... The shop owner (Mama, I believe) began selling tamales from a cart in McArthur park before she made enough money to buy the brick and mortar spot. Vegan options as well!

If you your like me and are always looking for alternative vegan food, then here s a place to try!

They have very delicious pupusas and tamales in various flavors all using vegan/plant based ingredients. The staff is very friendly and they have your order done quickly.

Feels like home when you eat in and the food is in good portions. Vegans and non vegans alike will like this spot!

I stopped here on a Sunday. It was scorching hot outside, and not too much better inside. There was one fan by the door.

I ordered the chicken verde tamale. I was excited to try it. The sign said that the tamales are handmade. I was very disappointed. The masa was doughy.

Welcoming, wholesome atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. They are non profit and support the community, which I believe is a great practice and beneficial to the area. Vegan tamales are delicious and several varieties are rotated and available daily! The location is conveniently close by the MacArthur Park Redline stop and easy to find. I highly recommend this place to anyone, vegan or otherwise

I dont even know where to start.. Tamales, Pupusas, their salvi breakfast and omg they're pan con pollo.. to die for. They have alot of vegan option pretty much they're whole menu. My wife and I love it here shes vegan but I am not so it's nice to be able to sit somewhere and be able to order from both menus and get the same thing :)

I go here at least 5 times a month. Best prepared, best tasting, fresh, affordable food. I think it's the best spot to get a Salvadoran desayuno. The best in MacArthur Park. Relaxing ambiance-casual.

Very accommodating. Came here for their Vegan menu with my partner and we were not disappointed. Vegan pupusas and tamales & authentic hot salsas GALORE! AN ABSOLUTE TREAT FOR A VEGAN MISSING OUT ON FUN Salvadorian and Mexican dishes. Prices are wee bit pricey though, vegan and organic ingredients come at ones expense and they are worth every dime. Come hungry! Leave feeling satisfied!

This is one of the few places I will buy a tamale. Usually, I buy tamales from food carts, but I make an exception for this restaurant.

The tamale entrees are a decent portion, but each type of tamale tastes so delicious that you might be tempted to order two.

Parking can sometimes be a pain.

Money hungry owners I used to go there almost everyday but last week I went with my colleagues and we gave the server tip and the old man asked her for it!!!! And after that he was giving her nasty looks and talking to her so rude, never going back.

I've eaten a lot of tamales in my day and these are some of the best I've ever had. They have daily specials made by different people and also really incredible vegan options, so everyone can eat there. They also have really adorable lunch specials! I'll be going back a lot.

Went here on maybe the hottest day of the year and it was baking inside, so that probably is not normal. I got some pork tamales, which were pretty good, but not amazing. The staff is very friendly, and service is fast.

My review is SOLEY based off my experience as a 4 year reoccurring customer (in store and at pop ups) The ONLY reason why I still even come here is because the VEGAN PUPUSAS ARE GOOD!

I understand that Vegan alternatives are going to be a bit more pricey no matter where you go as the ingredients are more expensive. BUT when I pay $5.75 for ONE PUPUSA and I can't even get enough tomato sauce to cover my one pupusa considering I usually always buy 3+ at a time. I think it's ridiculous to get told that I can only have so much sauce on my food because condiments are usually something that you can use as you please?
AFTER YEARS of doing the same business, you should know how much condiments to be bringing to each event. Especially when you KNOW you're going to sell out.

The food is bomb, but wish the customer service was way better.

First of all, thanks for being able to fulfill a last minute order (ordered Friday for delivery on Monday, 23rd). We were struggling to find places that offered vegan tamales as well as bean and cheese tamales (not a lot of places can make More

Honestly how is this 4 stars? I'm at a loss here. #1 Their website provides incorrect information. The tamales are priced at 2.50 online, but I arrived and they are $3.49 it's like "Surprise Surprise".

This is not just unfair, but literally false advertisement. I still promised my family some good tameles so I ordered 15 and paid 60 something. Then the cashier walks up to me and says that he made a mistake and that he doesn't have a flavor that I requested.

Listen. They we're very nice but the experience was horrible. Mainly because of my experience with the parking attendants.

When I parked, the attendant told me to get a validation, and the parking would be free (information I did not request) and he provided no ticket. (Not receiving a ticket striked me as odd but I figured it would work itself out) I simply provided the gentleman who I ordered the tamales from the same information that I was provided via the parking attendant and his reply was that if I wanted a validated ticket that it would cost me 2.00 dollars.

When I went outside to get in my car and leave (because there was something strange happening) I returned to my vehicle and it was -blocked in-( by an toyota van. I couldn't understand why someone would park like that. So I had to go over and the find the attendant and he requested a validated ticket. I told him that it wasn't free and that I was told it'd be free. He wanted like 10 bucks or something. I honestly don't remember, it totally isn't about the price. It's the fact that someone is lying and I am getting the run-around. Long story short. My niece and I walked all the way back in paid 2 dollars for this "free validation" (again these are the people who have the incorrect prices listed on their website & they also didn't have what I requested. You'd think they'd want to compensate me by providing a free validation. But nope. I went back and discovered that it wasn't a "random van" parked in front of my car. It was the parking attendants.

The sad thing is that the 4 Jackfruit tamales were amazing!!!! The sweet corn wasn't anything special. But my family really enjoyed them.

I won't be coming back here again. I'm sure there is another location that can provide this same quality of food, without parking attendants being shady.

Best vegan pupusas around! You won't know they are either. Super warm atmosphere. Overall a comfortable spot for lunch even on a (rare) rainy LA day. Highly recommend for any occasion--and they cater!

Yum! Simple ghetto fab tamales and pupusas $4. Vegan version for everything!! No AC, but they have a big fan. Located by the MacArthur park.

Loved it!! And the spicy cole slaw type side veggies.
- Sweet corn is a great dessert tamale to get too.
- Pupusa cheese only is a bit more of a crispy outside vs with meat could get a little mush/soagy.

Probably only authentic place in LA I know that has vegan versions!

Sad. Ramirez and Hernandez(owners) stole the name from Mrs. Romero while she recovered from stage 4 cancer. Mrs Ramirez (owner) took advantage of the lapse of the trademark registration to register it for herself.
Sad. They were once friends.

Never again will I patronize someone who steals from someone while they recover from cancer.

Tamales are OK, but character is far greater.

Delicious. This place was great. Taste like home cook meal. The servers were extremely helpful and friendly.
The food was delicious. I had the Caldo de Gallina, with rice, salad, tortillas and grilled chicken.
My wife had the Mole Vegan tamales and she thought it was delicious. My 4 year old had the Pan con Pollo, just like my sister makes for New years eve, It was delicious.
We also had the Platanos with beans and Vegan Cream. Also, tasted great.
The location is kind of sketchy and would not be there too late. They close at 6pm so that is good. I will definitely be back.

Their vegan pupusas and tamales are delicious! I first tried them during a vegan street fest in North Hollywood and loved it! I love their jackfruit and cheese pupusa. Today, I had that as a combo with rice & beans. Their red salsa is also delicious! My friend loved their mole & nopales tamal & beans w/ cheese pupusa. Bought some pupusas & tamales to go for my sister! Highly recommend!
