This place is so cool, I could spend hours here. I am in love with the blind book date idea, which gives me a chance to try something I would have never thought of reading :)

As of December 2020, browsing is by appointment only, but they will also order books for you and deliver them right to your car. I have loved this store for a long time and appreciate everything they are doing to keep their staff and customers safe.

Amazing selection of books. I left with many to add to my collection. They also have brown paper wrapped books to get a book "blind" which I think was a neat idea. They seem to have frequent events with authors in the main store.

Awesome bookstore, was especially impressed with their signed edition selections.

Community staple! One of my favorite places to have a coffee and a cookie and a book and hang out:) So sweet and enchanting. A good old fashioned locally owned bookstore with great staff and great coffee... actually, the bookstore staff is nice but the baristas are never smiling... kind of weird, but I love this place anyway:) Smile guys!

Such a nice little bookshop with a cafe. We didn't get anything in the cafe so can't comment on that but they have a good selection of books and the staff were friendly.

As a visitor to Asheville, Malaprop's was impossible to tear myself away from. The first impression is impossible to ignore - immediately I felt welcomed into a world of wonder and incredibly passionate bookkeepers! I checked my bag at the counter and received a picture of Hayao Miyazaki, and as if that weren't perfect enough, the blind date book I picked out has been first on my reading list for months! It was just meant to be, and I'll absolutely make Malaprop's a must stop on any future Asheville trips. There truly is a collection for everyone here.

Staff helpful and friendly. Have a very large variety of fiction and nonfiction. Small bookstore, but well organized so easy to move around in the store even when moderately crowded. Also have children's and teen titles as well as a section dedicated to NC authors. Have a coffee shop in the store. They also have "surprise books" that have been recommended by the staff but are wrapped up so you can't see the titles. If you unwrap and have already read it, just bring it back and they'll trade for another.

Great bookstore. Such a fun place to look around. Wonderful programs. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Do stop in and check it all out. Good cafe too.

Just walk in, walk around, browse and you re sure to find the perfect book/gift/tchotchke. We love independent booksellers and this must be the place in Asheville. We heard the beginning of a lecture from an author. Plus they have coffee!

The chai latte was delicious, the selection was awesome, and the employees were lovely and helped me find a new book!

Edit 6/25/2020: I'm so glad they have such a great online shop! Although I can't visit Asheville and all of the great local shops I was able to find some new books online and they were sent to me super quickly.

A fantastic bookstore. Lots of selection, friendly staff, a cafe, and cool idea like book "blind dates" of their favorites but with a brown paper cover describing the book with giving the author or title.

On the same block with plenty to do and see. There's a coffee shop and a nice amount of seats. Very comfortable, nice selection of books and merchandise.
From week to week they post a list of best selling books . Very cute book shop worth a visit.

Discrimination against those who don't live in NC earns a big 1 star from me.

Absolute favorite book store! Lots of interesting books and aisles to wander through. The cafe has lovely home-made soda as well.

Malaprops is a treasure. A couple hours browsing there with a side trip to Downtown Books and News is one of my favorite treats. The staff are always helpful, there are great author events and you can buy your book and start reading while you enjoy a coffee in the cafe.

Try the mystery book shelf! They cover the book in brown paper and write descriptions on the paper wrapping. Really expanded my horizons, haven't had a bad pick yet.

Overall super cool local book shop, a must visit for locals and tourists alike, imo.

Malaprop's is my favorite place, whether it's coffee or books. They've got a great craft section and their books on natural history are hella cool.

This is a really nice bookstore. They have a wide selection and the staff are very nice. It's not a discount bookstore, but if you are wanting something where it's going to be full price or near full price then this would be where I'd go.

I really love books that is the reason book shops truly interest me. Was not confused that I visited Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe.

There are packs of books to look at here at Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe. An enormous degree of outlines too. Regardless of the way that the book that I was looking was not there, the proprietor said they will interface with me at whatever point the book arrive so that was empowering.

The place was astonishing. Not too dreadful and satisfying in case I may state. The books were splendidly made by sort that is the reason its not difficult to take a gander at for a book to ask about. The staffs were attentive and welcoming. I truly respect that they offered to call me if the book I was looking for after down arrived. They genuinely care for their customers.

Will come back to Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe once the book I look at for arrived. Or on the other hand obviously possibly if I have discharging up time to check for another book. Remarkably proposed.

I loved this bookstore. It's nice but has a bunch of homey touches. A fair selection of current and classics, but not really enough space for a really good collection. All in all, a very nice bookstore. I especially liked the "blind date with a book" shelf. Very cool idea.

This is my favorite bookstore. I appreciate that they have ecclectic books you wouldn't find at your average bookstore. Really quirky and awesome atmosphere. Come here and support local business.

I have been shopping at my beloved Malaprops for over a decade. I was finishing up a cell call and two ladies rushed from behind the desk, embarrassing me telling me NO CELL phones!!!! There are signs everywhere, they loudly exclaim!!! I was in shock and quickly left. I can not even explain how humiliating this was as I almost felt like a shoplifter! I understand rules but this harsh response will make me and my family and friends NEVER shop there again! I have spent hundreds of dollars here over the years! By the way, I went to 3 books stores nearby and shared this story. Quiet cell usage is allowed and they all said they would never embarrass a custom this way. Bye Malaprops.... Rest In Peace.

Cool bookstore. They had these books that were wrapped so you couldn't see the title and they wrote a description on it so it's like a surprise book which I thought was cool

This store is really great and unique! It has a coffee shop, little knick knacks and plenty of books. Bought a funny magnet there and a cavalinni calendar.

This independent bookstore offers great value for its placement downtown and the variety of books offered. There are events and there is a coffee shop. I'm not the only long-term patron who would fiercely defend this incredible landmark establishment as an important stop for any booklover's pilgrimage while visiting Asheville.

They have wonderful customer service, they are timely, and their book packaging is nicely done. Would buy from them again. The book I ordered arrived without damage and in the time frame they promised.
