Absolutely terrible. I would have rated them a negative if I had the option. The staff is definitely stuck in pre-1994 era. Not a place I would visit again particularly if you are of African descent. The staff have no shame, they will lie to you outright and selling you defective goods. Getting those goods back to the shop can take very long. They have their own interpretation of the consumer protection act. Avoid

A dreadful experience at this Branch yesterday. Waited extremely long for assistance while staff were standing on the salesfloor chatting and ignoring customers who actually call them for assistance. I purchased a gas stove waited over 30 minutes just for the item to be brought down from the stockroom. The item was left on the salesfloor on a trolley. I asked if that was mine and with attitude I was told yes upon that nobody explained anything to me about the contents the box wasn't even opened infront of me to make sure the item was the same one I requested the "salesman" who apparently "assisted" me never spoke to me until I asked him about the contents of the box. Cashiers were having a personal conversation infront of me in their mother tongue. Pushed my own trolley to my vehicle with my groceries and stove and asked the car guards to assist me load the items into the vehicle yet makro employees stood around in the store having personal conversations. By far the worst customer service from makro. Unhelpful and rude staff I educated myself about a product which a salesman apparently sold to me. As well as I was never told the returns policy with regards to the stove neither was I even told about the guarantee/warranty nor was I offered an extended guarantee/warranty. Extremely disappointing if I hadn't spent that much time at the store I would have never spent my money there. Will definitely be taking my business elsewhere (away from makro). This branch ruins the image of the brand!

I made an online order and was pleasantly surprise...

I made an online order and was pleasantly surprised when part of the order arrived 2 weeks earlier than I expected. That is where the pleasantness started waning as we found the clay fire pit we ordered smashed inside the box. I quickly put in a call to both the courier and the Makro call center. I found the call center rep empathetic and ready to direct me to fill out a return form which I did. I then received a follow up email stating the local store would follow up and fetch the damaged goods and replace it. That was May 24th. I was not contacted since. I made a second call and was again helped by a kind representative. But I still have not heard anything and really just want to enjoy the product we paid for long ago or receive our money back if it is too difficult to deliver on an order made. I would love to speak to a Springfield store rep who has the ability to give me real information and get things moving.

My shopping experience was not an easy and simple ...

My shopping experience was not an easy and simple one as in normal shops. Navigating the store was not easy, this was despite the yellow signage - Finding some items that are normally shelved in the same isle or shelf next each as in other stores proved difficult. My my experience had that bright side that there were many staff members who knew the stores shelving very well. These staff were very helpful.

Firstly your staff at the sweet department are totally clueless they almost lost an order for R3600 if I was not persistent secondly one of your most important departments ie your Dstv department should have someone knowledgeable to fill in when the original person is off fortunately two of casual staff tried their best thirdly it was a nightmare to purchase all these goods on my account after all my buyer placed an order yesterday need to get some system in place when orders are placed for collection at least now i am why my driver's get delayed.
We are approaching festive season and I can imagine the nightmare, definitely i will not be spending at Makro furthermore I am prepared to come to the store and point out the culprits confidently

On the floor service was terrible . . Waited for more than an hour for someone to serve us . . and then we were helped by a guy Daniel who turned our shopping experience around. He was amazing and he didnt even work for Makro. We dont often shop at your store . . but you can see why . .

Terrible store. I have spent some time here, buying an R8000 washing machine, R11000 TV and yet the service is still and will always be atrocious. Rude staff and dodgy characters in the store as well. Airconditioning doesnt work either so you want to get out asap!
