Overpriced tourist trap. Place decor is nice, but food and service are so so.

So much merit in preserving the old, but they could change the mirrors.

Lovely coffee and friendly staffs but too expensive!

Coffee set in the English style 20 years. To enter you have to queue until the doorman attends to you. Desserts are good, the most famous is the French toast. The coffees are expensive and are not of quality. 6 a cappuccino and the French toast. The best is the decoration of the site without hesitation.

The staff was so nice and helpful. The inside was so beautiful. The meals were a bit pricey, but perfect for a snack or quick tea time. It doesn't break your wallet to come here. For two teas and 2 cakes were about 20 euros

Totally over priced. Hot chocolate 6 euros, I expected much better chocolate for that money. The one torrija that they give you is ok, no great. Be ready to wait for a table.

Majestic Cafe is a work of beauty. The architecture of the building is matched with high quality servers who really take care of you. My only complaint - this place is too pricey to be a local spot to frequent. Simple coffees can cost up to 8euros each and an omelette about 20euros.

I think it is nice to experience once if you have space in your budget. The price point associated with the cafe is definitely because of its notoriety as the place where JK Rowling had written some of the Harry Potter series. Of what I tasted today, food was okay but you maybe better off spending your money elsewhere if you are looking for more filling options.

Very disappointed with the service, staff look at you up and down and rush you to order/pay. Simply couldn't enjoy my experience there. Extremely overpriced and the interior is not even well preserved.

The price is much higher than other coffee shops, and many tourists just feel the atmosphere by just ordering a cup of coffee. The interior is classical and elegant, with leather chairs and delicate carvings. Coffee okay, French toast is too sweet, and the tart is not crispy, but because it is too beautiful, I give it five stars.

I had read so many reviews about this bar where they almost forced themselves to go. Aesthetically, it deserves a lot inside, but the product leaves something to be desired ... We ordered two Italian espresso coffees, requesting them short, they served us a coffee where you could soak the biscuits. Not to mention the price, 8 euros two coffees ... which didn't even have the color of coffee.

Recommend this cafe only for a drink and possibly a dessert as it is great for enjoying the details and features of the place but the hot food was pricey and did not taste good (lukewarm and soggy) AND service slow as snails.

Stunning restaurant with fantastic desserts.

Exquisite. Every bite made me close my eyes n hope that the taste never ended.

Overpriced and overcrowded. We had ask 6 times and wait 40 minutes until a waitress decided to bring us the bill.

Very particular atmosphere. Pasta de nata is their specialty. The prices are a bit higher than usual but it is acceptable as their high quality and class.

Not recommended!

1. Taste
The pastel de nata was very disappointing and quite cold. I first had the pastel de nata which is not warm in Portugal. It was the worst out of those I had in Porto.
2. Price
The egg tarts are three times more expensive than those sold in other cafes nearby and the Americano five times more pricey.
3. Atmosphere / Availability
It's very crowded, and the signature menu is sold out after 9 pm even though it's open till 11 pm.
4. Interior
The tables and chairs were placed very close one another, which doesn't let you enjoy comfortably.
5. Payment
The change of one euro was given with five 20 cents.
6. Minor things
Icing sugar to self-sprinkle on the top of the tarts was not given, and cinnamon powder was in the container with a hole at the bottom.

It does not justify the prices ... There are similar ones in the port ...

The place has great architecture and indoor decoration, great location.
Coffee and pastries were good yet a bit pricey. the food is pretty good too, the service was outstanding and the staff were extremely nice and helpful.
Overall I would say a bit overrated but worth the look.

A vintage cafe, beautiful as pretty as expensive. Very expensive a way to bleed the tourist. It seemed to me, as always when I go to places like that, that the subject should be regulated. 10 euros for 2 coffees is a steal no matter how beautiful the cafeteria is.

A coffee 5. Then find out that it is not wood worked walls but painted plaster. And if you don't have something, the security guard at the door won't let you in or take a picture

Undoubtedly a unique place, where decoration and food go hand in hand with good taste and quality. It was not the first visit, nor will it be the last, God willing. Service with good disposition, improved and unprecedented to be in better hands to be served. Those who do not know do not worry, because they will not regret with choice.

Incredibly friendly and efficient service. The food is great, but you would mostly come here for a fancy, more pricey breakfast and the theme/aesthetic. Get here early, this is a very popular and highly recommended spot. You could wait 30 mins at the minimum on a busy day.

A wonderful coffee!

This Cafe is simply splendid, it is very well decorated (its foundation in the 1920s) and located on the prestigious rue de Sainte Catherine.

The prices are a bit excessive but the place is definitely worth the detour.

The place is beautiful and service is excellent, fast and kind. French toast, the most famous sweet in this cafe, is very good; I just don't give it 5 stars because it was the only egg yolk candy in Portugal that gave you the taste of raw egg. It was slightly off point; which absolutely does not make the candy bad, it s just an alert.

Although we had to wait a short time to buy, it was definitely worth it. The coffee was really delicious, as were the desserts that we ordered. The ambience is very nice and there is also a large outside area in the back. It was closed due to the weather, but it's a lot nicer inside.

The place is very nice, but only the fact of queuing and paying 5 euros for a beer ... Well, it seems like a scam ... But it is another place that you will visit if you go to Porto. It is obligatory to drink something, they do it because it has a lot of fame and otherwise it would seem like a market of people passing by, but the prices are abusive. It's pretty, yes.

6 euro for a "hot chocolate" which was not milky/creamy/frothy, it tasted and looked like a bar of chocolate melted into a cup...which sounds decadent but it was actually so heavy and not enjoyable, and this is coming from a dark chocolate lover. Feels like a tourist trap or gimmick.

I say it twice because I was very impressed by the stafff!
Starting with the porter who friendly let me in just to take a look, but I stayed to eat;
The two waitresses whom I asked for the best place, they are ALL nice they said laughing... and were right ;
The waiter who suggested us this special unique and delicious "champagne sangria";
The second waiter (was in fact a waitress replacing the first one during break) suggested the Majestic's speciality : rabanadas ... unbelievable!

Just to remember: as I was outside, I told my wife "this is a tourist trap, I'll just take a picture and we run away. Gasp. The Majestic was a Great moment in Porto.

Best American coffee by far, and we've been searching. We've found it pretty hard to find a normal filter brewed coffee here in Portugal, most places serve us americanos instead. The quality of the coffee is quite balanced as well, nothing of the sour type we've encountered elsewhere, but quite a bold flavor.

The oldest cafe in PORTO, one of the most beautiful too, I recommend.

Gorgeous. I remember him in an almost degrading state and I was happy when a few years ago he was targeted for works and restored his beauty and charm. Must-visit place in Porto.

When there are not many tourists in the morning, go to breakfast and the atmosphere is very good. It is recommended to order their French sandwiches.

Extremely overrated and overpriced place. We ordered 2 French toasts, an americano, and a Galao for 20 . The French toasts were too sweet and disgusting. We just had a single bite and left.

Beautiful Decor. Very chilled waiters. So much they were nearly walkin backwards. Lol. Patience required. Pricy but Lovely port and cheese board. Only gripe is the main door didn't close properly so sitting in constant draft. Windy outside.

The setting is certainly beautiful, but not the first freshness.
Mirrors and leathers tarnished.

From memory, 15 euros the hamburger with its sauce 'French'.
We were expecting something refined.
We got a Big Mac (actually, with fewer ingredients), frozen fries and ... ketchup ...



For adults, it was fish, bacalhau, obviously.

I was expecting an elaborate, refined, pretty plate.
It was almost the case.
Not bad in itself. Well, even.
But not exceptional either.

For the price, you order for two and have to eat for 10 (be careful, I do not endorse either ...) and at least as good elsewhere ...
Less well presented, but still.

In short, the impression of being taken for a pigeon.

Go and drink a chocolate if you really want to see the place then go eat elsewhere ....

To be honest it was one of the worst experience I had in a coffee place!
I mean the place is beautiful and is totally worth it to get in just to have a look. But please, then leave as soon as possible!!!

I knew before going that everything there is really expensive, I'm not complaining about that. But I mean, when you pay more (much more!!!) than usual you expect to have good quality service.
Well I had breakfast there and I ordered a croissants with ham and cheese and the croissant was not fresh, was from the day before so they decided to warm it up.
I mean I cannot deal with the fact that such coffee place doesn't have fresh products!
I also asked for an orange juice, with is more like an orange juice shot, and the plastic wrap that covers the straw was literally inside the juice...I mean how come?

It was really really awful and the waitresses didn't help with the experience at all. please avoid going there...unless you want to pay 3.5 for an expresso...
