We just had DVR service added to our home, & finally converted from our old cable company to Madison Communications. Jason our installation Tech was beyond amazing. Service like this is not something you will ever receive from a big box cable company. He went out of his way to ensure our system worked as we needed it to. Have no fear if you have a smart home, Jason & the tech team at Mad Comm know just what you need to keep your home smart with the Madison Communications systems. Goodbye DirecTV, we don't miss you!

Watch for the bait and switch! Said we could change selections at a later time during initial call, then craned a tv bundle down our throat at installation time. Now we are paying $160 per month for channels we can t even access.

Internet is reliable. But the price of the minimal...

Internet is reliable. But the price of the minimal high speed is up to double what other companies would charge. Great service if the cost of service wasn't so much more than other internet providers. (this is based off the fact that 3 years ago I was paying nearly 60 dollars for 3mbps--which included a modem rental, when frontier averages around the same for 12 mbps once their promotions expire. I recently spoke with a Madison rep and found out they now give 10 mbps for 50 if I buy my own modem/router. This is a much fairer deal than what was previously given. But to suggest I'm not well educated on internet just isn't fair. I directly looked at rural competitors and found that at that time Madison was extremely expensive charging nearly 60 with a rental I payed for several times over getting only 3mbps) if I'm wrong in that instance call me a fool. But that was barely able to be called high speed and was only 40 shy of a 100 dollar bill. Mind you this was in 2017. I do understand that people with a little more cash to spare can pay an extra 20 and get a tremendous boost to speed, but for the price, 3 was a total ripoff compared to the other speed/price options, as well as the price /speed ratio of Frontier. As stated before though, the quality of the internet was and I'm sure still is great. The price is straight forward and honest they're not trying to pull your strings. I like that you guys have recognized your flaws and bumped up your minimal from 3-10. That truly does put you in direct competition with the rural market and 10mbps for 50 is actually a fair deal. I will most likely be switching back to the company for as long as i live in the service area.

The cost of service is outrageous! The internet is unreliable, it goes offline several times a day for 5 minutes at a time. I cannot wait to have another option! Maybe I should recommend to Comcast or another big named company to move this direction. I never had problems like this or paid these ridiculously high prices when I lived in the city. We need more options.

We just got the hi speed internet (100). The provided Hitron router has a conflict with my HP Officejet 8600 wireless printer. I checked online and this is a known problem experienced by others as well. I will be limited to a wired connection for my printer if I do not find a solution to make them work together. I called Mad Telco tech support yesterday from the landline. Was on hold 27 minutes. Hung up and called with my cell, waited 3 min and was told that they cannot troubleshoot this issue. And we are not happy with what we have to pay either! And have to be locked in a year with every little change. Can we say monopoly?

My boyfriend and I recently moved to Livingston, IL, and this is my first time having a rural internet/cable carrier after years of big time internet providers that trick you with a year of cheap service. Madison has been amazing, the internet is lighting fast, the technician was great, and customer service is great. The company is the epitome of what small town courtesy is and their supporting other small businesses is the icing on the cake.

Extremely overpriced for the quality of the service! I wish that the service itself was as good as the customer service. Everyone is always friendly, but they can t seem to fix the problems. When paying almost $200 monthly for simply phone and internet service, I expect to have more than 10 Mbs download speed, since I am paying for 100 Mbs. Unfortunately, when you are given no other options for providers, your opinion really doesn t much matter anyway. Wish we had Charter here!

I've been a big supporter of this company. I also spend a lot of money. When you email a person and tell them they are going to lose internet for a bit here and there for a week fine that's cool no problem. Here's the problem...MY internet went down for 11 hours if not more had to use 3.7 gigs of data for a hotspot so my autistic 3 year old could have some background noise and a show playing on tv so he can sleep. Was I offered a bill credit was I offered anything ? NO absolutely not I only pay close to 200 a month. I went from being a supporter to someone who wishes charter would move to town and charter is bad people. OH wait I forgot they charge you just to add channels when they just click a mouse. This company is getting ridiculous

Service is spotty at best. Charges way too much for services. Tech support basically tells you to turn your equipment off and back on before telling you its a problem on your end. Internet speeds are never at what you pay for.

We are very pleased with Michelle in Customer Service! We came into the office in January to talk to her about our bill. She was very pleasant and caring. She said she would follow up with us in a few weeks, which she did. We feel it is very important to keep your word and do what you say you are going to do. She is a real asset to Madison Communications!!

So glad that Madison offers service in my town! People should research more before they post negative comments because Madison is not the only provider in this area, they are the only provider that is willing to invest their money in our communities. The big box companies won't come here because they are not interested in rural communities and want a big return in the larger cities. My service is great and more than I expected when I moved out of the Metro St. Louis area. So, thanks Madison for caring about local people and 8 years of great service, that I've only had to call repair twice for in all of the years that I've had your service. Keep up the good work!

One of the worst ISP I have dealt with! Period! All about taking the money from customers and nothing else. When I originally started their "service" for internet, I had to pay a significant amount up front. Which included the 1st months payment. It took nearly 2 weeks to actually get a tech out to start service and within a week or 2 I already had a bill for the next month. 2 weeks later I had a letter saying I was delinquent on my second months bill. I had barely had service for an entire month. Then I get sent another bill for month 3!!! This is the end of my first full month of service! Why would I pay for a service that I have not received?? When I tried to speak to customer service about this, I was left on hold until I finally had to hang up. I made multiple attempts and each time put on hold. I am a very busy person an cannot sit on hold for several minutes at a time. After being fed up, I stopped paying and I tried to contact someone to come get the equipment. Again, I was left on hold for a very long time. Within 2 weeks I had a letter from a collections agency for over $800!!! I barely had service for 2 months. So now I have to pay for equipment that I have been trying to have someone come get and service I never received!!!!!

I've heard some complain about thisr customer service but honestly I've had service with the "big name" communication companies and none of them hold a candle to the small town positive customer service you get from this company. Constantly investing in their infrastructure giving rural customers a quality of service not seen in many places.

If you are looking for a good internet provider, use your mobile hotspot on your cell phone. Made the mistake of getting Madison Communications doesn't work have to use hotspot for everything in the house. Wish we had Charter out here.

Where do I start with them. First off in their service area there is no other direct competition. If you want internet it is either Madison, Frontier DSL, or internet through your satellite provider. Cable is solely through Madison. They have a service monopoly on this area and their pricing reflect that. I moved from an area covered by charter, and was receiving double the internet speeds for half of what Madison charges just for their internet package. The internet quality is poor, my internet slows to a crawl, cuts out and I have to unplug and restart my router once a day because my internet begins to slow down if I don't. Spent plenty of time with tech support with no real progress. I even had one guy try and tell me that my over all speed issue was because I use a torrent program for my downloads. Which is just hogwash. especially when he claimed I was having the issues the program wasn't even running. They are supposed to be offering 100 MB internet here soon. I am scared to even know what they are going to ask a month for that. Not happy with the service, but with lack of options to choose from, its either them or nothing.

We had our internet service upgraded and a new modem installed. Our technician Grant Texier was very professional and knowledgeable. He installed the items very quickly and was able to explain any questions we had. Thanks Grant for the great job you did and for being so thorough and professional.

We recently moved to Livingston, IL, and I was concerned that our internet and cable might not be what we were used to since I came from a larger city. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by Madison! When I called about pricing and to set up services, I got through quickly, I got the appointment quickly, the technician was great, and our services are as good as "larger companies". (only better, in my opinion) The cable comes in great, and the internet speeds are lightning fast. Plus, Madison is family owned and supports other locally owned businesses!

Prices kept rising at Madison Communications to the point I opted to go with ATT as they promised me some fantastic rates and superior service than what I was getting from Madison. Worst mistake of my life. ATT did not abide with what they promised me and quickly my rates were the same or higher than Madison, plus some huge service errors. That quickly shifted me back to Madison and I am much happier and just recently had a technician at my house to do some wire repair work. His name was Dennis Russell and not only did he do a fantastic job but he was out here the same day I called, he was very knowledgeable and extremely courteous. I hope I never need to change service providers again.

They promised to make it right and fix the property they damaged and still 4 months later have done very little to make things right. If it wasn t for being the only internet provider option I wouldn t be using Madison. Once they get your money they don t care.

Frustrated with the customer service of Madison Communications. In trying to solve a problem with my internet with technical service it was discovered that my 5G service had been disabled accidently by Madison, and my services were running solely on 2.4G. We pay over a $100/month for wifi and now realizing I have never had the full access I am paying for tried to dispute that we should be reimbursed. Customer service stated since we were still getting service there was nothing that could be done, definitely wish we would have used another service provider.

After many years with DirecTV satellite and Verizon internet in our rural location, MadComm's fiber optic service became available. We were being seriously gouged by our previous providers, and MadComm is a huge bargain in comparison, providing MUCH better service in every way, and at a much lower cost. The internet speed is incredible and the data allowance is generous. The TV image quality is fantastic and the programing includes everything we could possibly want. We are saving over $300/month over our previous packages. For the last 15 years we begged the other major providers to bring fiber optic out here and they weren't interested, so thank goodness for MadComm.

From the office, Whitney lined up our services and got us a convenient appointment for installation; awesome to work with!

On the installation day the techs, Grant Texier and Bobby Wicke arrived on time early in the day, got to work and had everything completed by Noon. This is spite of a very challenging situation with existing coax everywhere, tons of things to change over, difficult access to our existing equipment, long and difficult runs for their equipment, and a complex system of our own wireless routers between buildings. They didn't complain, listened to us and worked with our specific needs, explained everything thoroughly, did a nice tidy job, and left with everything working properly and the site cleaned up. Excellent job from these two guys!

We could not be happier with the entire experience. Thank you!

I have been waiting just about 3 months for this internet upgrade that has have been advertised on my email and television. I have called multiple times and have gotten different answers on almost every occasion. First time I called I was given an estimate that it would be around 2 weeks until it reached my area. So I waited 2 weeks to call again, when we called again they said that my area was ready for the upgrade but shortly got a call back saying that it wasn't and it would be about 3 weeks. After waiting that time I called again and was told that it would be another 2 weeks to a month. Then I got an email today once again advertising the 100 megabit speed upgrade so I figured I would call again only to be told that it was going to be another month. I am at my breaking point with the complete lack of communication and lies. I understand that this upgrade takes time but this is getting ridiculous. I also realize that cable companies have legal monopolies on towns and the only way to prevent getting screwed by overpriced fickle services is to move. I don't want to have to do that because I really do enjoy this area. As a customer all I want is a clear and concise ETA on when my area will be upgraded. With the amount of money we are spending on cable and internet that's the least thing Madison can do. Thanks and sorry for whichever employee gets to deal with me today.

This review reflects what I see as false advertise...

This review reflects what I see as false advertisement, overpriced Internet service, and a monopolizing attitude due to them being the only provider in my area. On their website, simply states 100mbps for $109/month NO CONTRACT required. In my area I apparently need a phone line for this service, which adds $9.95 a month. Non negotiable. This land line is free calls incoming, but I have to pay per minute for outgoing. This is known as a emergency line. Oh, I also have to buy a phone that I cannot use for this land line that I did not want initially, but is required. Now this Internet service has become a "bundle"(internet+phone), which bundles require a contract agreement. Non negotiable. So now I have my internet, with a required phone line that I cannot even use, and a required bundle contract. All I wanted was 100mbps Internet service for $109 and no contract, LIKE THIER WEBSITE SHOWS. I think to make it right, they should have either waived the fee for the phone line that I didn't want/can't use, or waived the contract that originally wasn't required. To call that a bundle, is completely unfair. This type of stuff will eventually catch up to them down the road. Always does. As I will be the one of the first to sign up for a different provider, as soon as it becomes available.

They always respond quickly to our concerns and they have resolved any issues in a fast and professional manner. It is so nice to speak to a real person who cares about their customers. I would recommend them to anyone looking for quality and outstanding services.

Just had Madison install internet services at my apartment. Was having a tough time finding a strong enough signal, and issues with apartment neighbors and the landlords cooperation. The tech from Madison Jason did an outstanding job and went above and beyond what I felt would be typical duties in order to provide us with a connection. Calling for permission and talking with neighbors about access to secure a proper connection for our modem. Even after multiple failed attempts Jason didnt just give up and tell us to reschedule to take the easy way out. He double and triple checked over everything until he found a way to get us hooked up and connected. It was great having someone so dedicated to his job, professional, curtious, and extremely nice. He was a tremendous representation of your company Madison. Thanks again Jason! You're help was extremely appreciated!

I was honestly terrified to sign up w/ this company due to the reviews, but I am SO HAPPY we went with Madison Communications! My husband and I moved to Staunton in March, and saw Madison was our only option. We decided to just suck it up and sign up for the internet and trial it. WE LOVE THEM! We used to have Charter, but their internet was laggy and slow. We ONLY have internet now through Madison (we don't watch cable), and we have not had ANY issues. We play many games that require an internet connection, and man... Madison gives a STRONG internet connection. Thank you all at Madison Communications! This review took so long to write because I wanted to see if we would eventually have any issues. It's been almost 6 months, and I have ZERO complaints. I cannot speak for their phone or cable services, but I definitely will not change internet services... EVER.

We have had services with Madison Communications 3...

We have had services with Madison Communications 3 times at 2 different addresses now. We switched internet service providers to AT&T years ago when they offered DSL at our house. Big mistake. We switched back to Madison after 6 months of AT&T's terrible service and continued with coax internet. We sold that home and moved to a rural location and we were stuck with Dish Network for services. After calling Madison and getting our neighbors to call in they decided that fiber was a good fit for our area. Needless to say we are thrilled with this company and highly recommend their services. Our internet speeds are exactly what they advertise (super fast) and their customer service folks go above and beyond to make you feel like a valued customer. The installers are friendly, knowledgeable and good problem solvers. Our install was completed professionally , on time and without the sloppy work that we have had from other cable/satellite companies in the past. We have yet to have any downtime like we were used to from the other companies . I highly recommend using this company for internet or TV services.

I wouldn't even give them a star. There service is the worse that I have ever seen. The prices is outrageous. I would never recommend this company to anybody. I hope another company buys them out. Because nobody needs to go through the headache of dealing with Madison communication.

I have had Madison as a service provider all of my life, if I ever had an issue they fixed it very quickly. I have friends that have other service providers that tell me I am over paying for the service that I am receiving, and then they say their service was out for days at a time... I am a firm believer of you get what you pay for .
The other service providers have millions of customers who they can spread their costs over, as in big cities. Madison is a small family owned and operated company who services rural areas where customers can be miles away from their neighbors, and I feel that is why it costs a little more than other service providers charge.
To summarize I am glad that I have only had Madison as my providers of Telephone, HDTV and Internet because with them I always have fast reliable service that my family and I can count on!

Close to $200/month for cable w/no movie channels, phone and 20mb Internet. Have a house in Missouri and Charter does $121/mo for faster cable Internet, TV and Charter Phone.

Internet was horrible since late last year. After many visits to our house since March, (one technicians were here til 9:00p!), multiple days awaiting techs to arrive, swapping modems, tech support calls, and at the end, DAILY calls, we got them to do SOMETHING with the lines and we FINALLY have acceptable Internet! We get some months Internet credit but not the phone line that they MANDATE you pay for to get Internet.

Hmmmm......they own the cable that comes into the house too! But we have to PAY for a phone line!

Not a happy camper.........I see a satellite in my future.

My service has not been right since it was installed. I Have talked to them on Multiple occasion's trying to get my service right. They promise me that someone else will call me back to set up a technician visit to my home yet I have not received the phone call and this is the 2nd week. If you have an alternative to this I suggest you use it if you want Internet that stays connected.

I was worried that my only option for service when I moved to a small town would be Frontier but I was pleasantly surprised to find Madison serviced my address. My speed is very fast and the service is super. I did experience a small outage a few weeks ago but they immediately fixed the problem. I am extremely happy with their local customer service and knowing that I also support local business is very important to me. Thanks for the great service!

I m not impressed with your service, I convinced my wife to upgrade to faster speed at a higher expense monthly. From day one service has dropped randomly without any apparent cause. You call tech support they check it from their end and say it s fine.
I felt I was doing the right thing supporting a local business. It s not my job to do your job. Fix it or lose a customer. And thanks for putting me in the trick bag with my wife. I don t need any help in that department I got it covered
I don t require any response from the owner just fix the problem, it would be nice to get what i pay for!
Btw your staff is well mannered and nice .

Horrible customer service, and the internet is awful. I've had the service for over a year, and since day one, I have not had the speeds that I am paying for. If I complain, they blame it on me. The customer service is extremely rude if you're having a problem and they refuse to work with you. This company is the only ISP in the area, and they know it, and they take advantage of it.

I can't say enough great things about this company...

I can't say enough great things about this company! They are so kind and easy to work with. We are having fiber run to our house and it looks like our septic tank electrical was cut by accident. I made one phone call and that is all it took. Next thing I knew I had the main guys at my house and they had it fixed within 24 hours with no push back or complaints. They handled this situation so well and their customer service was through the roof. This means a lot and customer service goes a long way with us. They have been upfront about all of their plans with the new fiber and their timelines. I am very happy to be moving to them for internet.

There was an accident where my internet got shut off instead of my downstairs neighbors', and the workers were very kind and acted quickly to get it resolved within an hour of calling. I am grateful that it was solved before New Years. Leaving a 4 star, however, because of the inconvenience of not having internet, but overall customer service was very good.

Only game in town & they know it.Turned in bad cable boxes.They talked up new boxes were better.Had hdmi connections only.Had to go to Walmart & buy our own cables.oh yeah they also started charging us more for new boxes.Would be nice to have competition.
