The BEST paczki in South Bend. I recommend the strawberry and whipped cream paczki. Also makes great baked goods, pasta salads, and other Italian staples.

Fresh baked goods, especially the bread and doughnuts are amazing!

After visiting Macri's a couple years later from when I posted my 1st review I have changed my mind about their panini's are great! I like the balsmic mayo they put on it and avocados. Feels fresh and light for a summer lunch. My favorite is the San Francisco Pannini.
And I am so delighted you can order online now and do curbside pick up! Awesome during these uncertain times.
I have had their pizza and alfredo and it was good.
I haven't tried their baked goods in a while but once I do I will update my review on the bakery items.

Tried an assortment of bakery items. And I feel the same . Over priced and not the greatest. I d go elsewhere for baked items.

Also tip for the owners , some type of signs or ticket system for checking or being helped would be nice . Went there and approached a cash register and no one assisted me or directed me that I should go to a different check out area. Not even the employees in the front.

After going to the correct check out area they just asks whose next and some other customer who didn t look like she was in line says she s next. . . A ticket number system would help clear up these type of mixups. Not the most check out friendly area.

Fettuccine Alfredo is good. Panini's are a bit bland but okay. Pizza is good. A bit pricey but okay. Baked goods aren't all that. Not worth the money.

Macri's is always delicious! The staff are friendly and the food is great. The shop is a good place to get some Italian staples and the deli/bakery/pizza/sandwich counter always has something special.

If you haven't been to Macri's Italian Bakery in South Bend, Indiana yet it will exceed your expectations and cause you to eat more than you want. The freshly baked desserts they offer are deliciously made and you can't go wrong with trying only one. Adriana, the daughter of the owners, gave us a wonderful tour of the bakery, deli, and restaurant. Immediately we were greeted like family and shown around their classy establishment. Choose the restaurant if you want a romantic evening with a loved one or just a casual dinner with friends. Best part about this place is everything is freshly made and the menu choices were commonly made in the Macri family.

My wife and I enjoyed stopping here for lunch during our stroll in the area. The venue, food and staff was a pleasant experience. We both had pasta servings and shared a salad. The scent of baked goods as we ate enticed us for dessert but we passed this time...we will be back

This is a must visit place when you are in South Bend. The family, it's food, and service makes this a legendary spot. Besides amazing pastries, you can enjoy freshly prepared sandwiches, pasta, pizza, and much more. You can also get groceries to go.

Best pizza that I have found in this area. Consistently good.

Since we moved to the area a few years ago, Macri s has been our family s go-to for the best of Italian provisions: imported mortadella, pecorino Romano, pastas, breakfast cookies, espresso, caramelle, their delectable Calabrese bread, not to mention their countless varieties of pastry, be it doughnuts, cannoli or authentic Italian biscotti. Also, our freezer is never without Macri s frozen pizza dough.

We ve also enjoyed several of their lunches like pizza, soup, pasta, panini, salads all of it s been fresh, delicious and fast.

Recently we tried their catering-WOW! Our guests were delighted and very impressed with the subs. Also, they made us the most beautiful cake I ve ever seen as well as the most delicious. And I ve decorated and eaten a lot of cakes! The cake decorating was truly a work of art and really made our party an elegant affaire.

Most especially we ve enjoyed interacting with the warm and friendly staff.

The original Macri's is still the best. I just wish it was open for dinner.

Their pastas and pizza are fresh and a different take on the conventional, American pizzas. Try the Chicken Brochette pizza.

A great place to get baked goods and other Italian goods. The prices are fair and everything we tried was well baked. Service was good.

So nice and friendly! One lady enthusiastically said,"You look nice!" Food choices have expanded! I couldn't resist the bakery side and purchased donuts & morning glory muffins! Met three generation family! Mary a regular customer. I mistook her purchase for a display!!! Tried a new Italian dish. Very good and healthy!

I'm in love with the delicate pastry sticks, a small delicious treat to go with my mocha. But of course everything here is a special treat, a wonderful establishment to have in the DTSB area.

I've been going there for many years when I'm in South Bend. The Italian bread is wonderful! Love their eclairs, donuts & muffins too.

Where do I begin! Carmella, her family, and her staff are all amazing people who are so helpful and responsive. They were great to work with and coordinate our wedding changes with when Covid happened, and they were understanding about switching dates and making us a smaller cake for our micro-wedding. The cake and the desserts were ordered were BEYOND PHENOMENAL. Let me tell you, we are a very Italian family and we are still talking about those cannolis. My husband and I cannot wait to eat the top tier of our cake for our anniversary, and we cannot wait to work with Macri's again next year for our bigger wedding event! Thank you so much, Carmella, for helping make our special day amazing.

I went there for the first time solely based on the website saying they have napoleon. The young lady that was behind the counter told me with a slight attitude they do not have those on the menu and never have. Funny if you go to the website that's exactly what it says. I figured since we drove all the way there I would try some of the pastries and order some lunch. The pastries were pretty good as well was the sandwich I ordered. Some things are a little pricey but worth it because of the quality. I've been back one time since and I'm sure I'll return unless I find a bakery that sells napoleon.

Hot fresh pasta cooked to order quickly...delicious!

So, so good. Just legit real baked goodness. I bring these donuts to work and I sneak them in so no one knows I have them. It is possible to eat a dozen so be careful. Prices are perfect too vs any franchise places. I'd rather get these any day.

An excellent locally owned bakery. Their goods put anything from a grocery store to complete shame. Seating is plentiful and wait times are generally short. I have not tried their pizza, pasta, or sandwiches but it looks good. You can also buy a variety of pastas, sauces, olive oils, etc. for a home cooked Italian dinner. My only major complaint would be that in the morning their soda fountain never seems to have ice.

I have ordered the pasta carbonara many times. The last 3 times the bacon is all fatty, flabby and white. Very unappetizing. They must of changed bacon because it use to be crunchy and delicious. The deserts are nothing special. Cookie is a cookie, donut is a donut.

Coming from class over to Macri's was here for lunch. It's a very good place to come to get out of the cold. I am enjoying the atmosphere of it! Thanks very much. Delicatesant style food. Delicious and reasonable prices.

We moved away 10 years ago and came back this morning for the first time since. It was just as delicious as I remember back when I was in college. Everything is so yummy, I wish I could pack this place up and bring it back with me to NC.

This place is absolutely marvelous. The food is too level quality. I had the shell pasta with vodka sauce sausage BA on shrimp onion mushroom and spinach. Best decision I could have made. I also ordered a BBQ chicken pizza. Marvelous. The staff really let you fall in love with them and are very aware of the needs of the customers. Both George and Carmella are amazing people and it would be an honor to see and meet with them again. Their children are like them as well. Very lively and open minded. Honest and loveable people.

It's my favorite restaurant in this area. Carmela and George treats the customers like family. The food is amazing and the desserts are wonderful! It's my heaven on earth.

Fresh bread baked every day. Nothing better than ciabatta bread with fresh sliced meats and cheeses. Good take out for client meetings. I order paninis and thin crust pizzas with chips. Cannoli for dessert.

If you would like to have a wedding cake that not only looks great but actually taste better than it looks - look no further! Our daughter was recently married at Notre Dame and after talking to several companies we selected Carmela and Macri's Italian Bakery to design and make their wedding cake! As you can see from the pictures I posted besides the cake being absolutely beautiful, Carmela was a joy to work with as well! Our wedding cake we called the Wedding Cake Trifecta as it was a combination of White Cake with Raspberry Filling, Italian Torte, and Carrot Cake. If you want the very best wedding cake for a fair price for your wedding in South Bend Macri's Italian Bakery is it!

Excellent pasta. Had the lobster ravioli, lasagna, Caesar salads, rice balls. All very good. Would recommend.

Poor service. Stopped in for lunch and to buy some items for dinner. They weren't busy but no one acknowledged me or asked what I'd like. Pasta guy just kept walking by me. Usually not like that there.
