I started having problems with my MAC, it was taking about 45 mins too restart or start up from shut down. then one day the screen just froze, nothing.
I took my computer along to MAC Assist, the address i obtained from Yahoo and gave it to Will for him to diagnose the problem which turned out to be a failed hard drive.

Now the price Will did quote for an uprated hard drive and at the same time up rate my ram was very reasonable indeed.
The turn around time was about 48 hours and he also uprated my small back up computer at the same time.
I can't praise this guy highly enough, very friendly, highly efficient and certainly knows his "stuff" about MAC's. I absolutely recommend MAC Assist and will not hesitate to use them in the future

An excellent and personal service by a firm that knows Macs. My Mac book air was raised from the dead by Will who was a pleasure to deal with. I can recommend MacAssist - if you Mac stops working get Will to fix it - he will for much less than the Genius Bar I suspect.

Very happy with the repair, which was effective, reasonably priced and carried out whilst I waited. I've knocked one star off because they can be difficult to contact sometimes. Having said that, this is a good place to have your Mac repaired and I would definitely use them again.

What a fantastic company!!

What a fantastic company!!
I took my 27" Mac here for a SSD Upgrade from my HHD and a memory upgrade, Much cheaper and quicker than Apple would have charged me, plus they clone your old drive onto the new one so when you get home all you have to do is switch it on and its all there where you left off but much much quicker!!
I did have a problem with my fan but it was soon rectified by them as Jess the girl that works there actually came and collected it from me which really is not her job but talk about going the extra mile! She went 3!! Very polite and is hard working as is all the staff there and are a credit to Will who is the owner.
Thank you Guys! -

MacAssist put a brand new hard drive in my 2007 iMac and now my computer is as good as new for a very reasonable cost. All in all, a fantastic service! The turnaround time was excellent and communication with me was superb every step of the way, either by email or telephone. Many thanks

Well, What can I say! A blown 2009 27inch Mac turned into a 1TB desk rocket! To book a repair just follow the instructions on the website. I opted for the solid state disc upgrade (for an additional fee), And WOW! As good as the new ones in the Apple Shop! We asked for and got macOS high Sierra v10.13.3. installed while being repaired. Thank you Mac Assist (Fixmybrokenmac)!

A realy nice experience, probably because the people were pleasant and helpful. I was lost without my mac but they sorted it and it's back as good as new. Maybe it's because i've grown grown accustomed to bad service and surly rude people but it was like a breath of fresh air dealing with Mac Assist and I can't recomend them enough. Would not hesitate to deal with them again if I had to.

I contacted MacAssist after a local repairer failed to fix damage to a Mac book Pro Retina 15" caused by a minor liquid spill. MacAssist provided excellent service from the start, with regular email updates to keep me in the loop, and the problem was fixed in 4 days at a fair cost. I would definitely use the service again and on the strength of this episode would have no hesitation in recommending the company.

Prompt, warm, friendly, professional & great value service. Excellent! Won't go anywhere else for my Mac stuff now. I was impressed with the trendy, geeky setting and the full online repair tracking & payment system (I like a written backup/ trail). I also appreciated that they (Will & Jess) did exactly what they said they would, within the time, without fuss and at a very reasonable cost. Perhaps what most impressed me was the 'cherry on the top' stuff: timely updates, careful explaining of options & even patient, step by step phone support (essential for the teck-phobic) when restoring my backup onto my replaced SSD. Excellent all round!

My MacBook Pro had 'frozen'. Callum very quickly and expertly diagnosed the problem. This involved replacing the hard drive. This was fitted very promptly at an acceptable price and Callum very patiently showed me how to download the data from my back-up hard drive on to the new disc. I would certainly recommend this business to friends and family.

MacAssist

I am really pleased that many of the reviewers on here had a great experience with MacAssist.

Mine has been a bit different, but judge for yourselves.

Like many Apple customers I was unfortunate enough to buy a 27inch iMac fitted with a badly designed graphics card a few years ago. It died after a couple of years. They were eventually recalled by Apple about the same time that mine packed up.

Apple repaired it by replacing the dead one with a new one that was exactly the same model and had the same inherent fault.

Yes, you guessed, that one packed up too in February this year and after the warranty had expired.

So, I hunted around and found MacAssist in Birmingham.

They sent a box, the Mac went off, the GPU got repaired and it came back. Great.

I was so pleased I purchased a 3 year 'Total Care' package from MacAssist.

Unfortunately, this September the GPU died again after being repaired in February.

Off it went again and arrived at MacAssist on the 14th September.

On the 21st I had heard nothing and contacted MacAssist who advised me that they had been an Engineer short and that the Mac hadn't even been diagnosed then.

Nothing by the 27th other than it was 'on the Engineer's desk as we speak'.

29th Invoice received after twice advising MacAssist that I had Total Care package. They advised me that the GPU had been faulty (again) and it it had been repaired (again). Fine.

I got the Mac back on October 3rd.

The GPU still didn't work properly, there were circular marks and a residue on the screen there was visible dust inside the screen, the machine was covered in dust and the case had not been fitted properly.

It went back again and was received by MacAssist on the 11th October.

Now you would think that given the circumstances the Mac may have been given priority? Not so.

Nothing heard by the 24th October, MacAssist contacted GPU beyond repair and they were waiting to 'Source' another one to test the mother board with it. I'm not sure what that means, couldn't they just replace the GPU ?

Tuesday 1st November - still nothing at all from MacAssist so I contacted them again as they don't seem big on communicating with customers.

The Senior Engineer (who was going to do the testing) of the sourced GPU was on holiday and it would be sorted out the following Monday when he returned.

Well, there you go.

It's now Thursday 10th November and what has happened?

Nothing. Nada.

No communication or anything else, certainly no repair Mac.

You can decide whether or not to use MacAssist.

You may have a long wait if you do.

Absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely disgusting.

I actually had high hopes with this company when i first came across them and reading their reviews (which now looking back, they are all 2-3 years old).

I came to the store and spoke to the owner (Will). He was very abrupt but put it down to him being on his own in the store and phone kept ringing.

Anyway i explained the situation with my laptop that it had liquid damage and i had cleaned it with isproponal. The reason i had brought my laptop in was because the keys were still sticky and thought id take it to the "pros" for a good clean.

I went to go collect my laptop to which i was told it wasnt ready to collect.

Joe told me the repair work was completed without my consent. and apparently this was reversable.

The level of customer service i received from Joe was disgusting. Does not know how to speak to a customer. Very rude and condescending. I told him i would like to speak to Will (the owner).

Will called me and i explained that i was unhappy as i just wanted my laptop back as i rejected the quote.

He told me the repair work was done etc. And he also told me it was reversable.

I told him to reverse it as I just wanted me laptop back the way i brought it in.

I kept calling the store in which Will was always in a meeting or was not at the store. It became very difficult to speak to Will.

Eventually he called me, and told me about the extra work that needed to be done to my laptop. It was frustrating because i just wanted my laptop back.

They will force you into getting your repairs done from them. or atleast try. I told him on not willing to pay for the extra repairs.

Will said that he will give me my laptop back without charge. I went to collect my laptop.

I got back and examined my laptop. It was in a state. disgusting. The laptop was in a much worse of a condition. I am taking my laptop to an apple authorised repair shop to see what damage they have caused. I wouldnt be suprised if they have swapped out my legit componants with their cheap ones.

Genuinely, stay away from these guys. They dont know how to treat customers and if you dont accept their quote, they will make your life miserable.

AVOID.

I was devastated when the screen display on my MacBook Pro came away from the casing making it impossible to access the internet. I took it to Apple where I was told that my seven year old machine was impossible to repair as there are no spares for 'such an old machine'. After a Google search I came across MacAssist & rang them for advice. I spoke to Will who was very helpful & reassuring. My machine was picked up the next day & has just been returned working perfectly again. I had a new SSD hard drive fitted at the same time as the complete display assembly - funny how Apple say there are no such spares. The laptop is now as good as new. I am so glad I found out about MacAssist. Thanks to you all, especially Will & Tom. I have no hesitation in recommending your company.

Excellent service, they answers my endless questions within less than 2 hours of emailing. Fairly priced and the laptops were picked up and delivered to and from my door step. I definitely recommend their service for any problems you may have.

Initially I was really happy with the service provided, it was quick and reasonably priced. Then the real problems started, my MBP failed a further two times over the period of two months and to the credit of Mac Assist, they did try to fix it. However, after a further FOUR month wait, countless phone calls and a missing hard drive my MBP was returned to me without its almost new charger, more scratches to the top of the machine, accompanied by a sticker saying unrepairable on it.
I am a patient man but this really did try my patience. I would use the term 'shambolic' to describe the service.

I was refunded the labour charge but I was given a false promise of a replacement charger which only added insult to injury, not to mention losing a bloody hard drive which they chose to ignore and fob me of with a 'we check every package very carefully' clearly not!

Suffice to say, I won't be using this out fit again!

Hy, this is MR Roy Fox.
Sorry I've been so long in making the review but, 'Things' occured.
Anyway, this is to let EVERYONE know that the work carried out on my iMAC 2009 is just fantastic. The machine was away for just over 6 days (incl' w/end), and has been returned, fully functional, and almost as good as new, (except for MY scuffs etc over the years) The guys at Mac Assist were easy to contact, and at hand with info' about my repair whenever I called. I was about to get rid of my mac but, because of the expertise of Mac Assist, it's working perfectly. I would definately RECOMEND Mac Assist to anyone who's having problems with their imac computers. Great job guys, thanks a lot.
Roy.

I would highly recommend MacAssist, the whole process was quick, easy and very reasonably priced too. I was nervous about sending away my iMac for repair, but was reassured by the good communication, with updates on the website, and a friendly phone call when I sought advice. I will definitely use them again for any Mac repairs or upgrades.
