There are great number of apple varieties available here. You can pick these from the trees. This place is also famous for huge pumpkins. There is a corn maze which is fun for kids as well as elders.

Went hoping to pick Asian pears which were available on Saturday. But when we got there today they said no picking pears today. When you come from Massachusetts that's a long way and gas wasted to have to turn around.

Yes, the other reviewers who said the lunch line is awful, are quite correct. almost an hour to get food. And the people doing the cooking are indeed walking around clueless. And I have been there three times in the last 6 weeks and it is not getting better. This will kill Lyman's name for sure if this does not get resolved and fast.

Good farm , has variety of produce. We liked pick-you-own, which we need to drive a mile more after apple barrel. We felt little sad seeing lot many apples, peaches and plums which were in good condition are on the ground. wondering what will happen to those fruits.

Enjoyed apple picking and the store. Bought fruit, vegetables and baked goods. Got there early for breakfast was awful. Along with fighting off the bees until we realized we could go inside. Wouldn't recommend breakfast to anyone.

With regards the the reviewer below who was displeased with the prices, I visited the Apple Barrel a few weeks ago and a regular candy apple was $5.99. Certainly this is on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it was fresh, a good size and most importantly it was delicious. The much larger, gourmet candy apples were more expensive but they were large and were layered with treats. I don't believe that price is out of line. This is a destination during the fall and some items do command higher prices, something the reviewer admits. So, I'm not sure if that warrants a 3 star rating without commenting on the quality of the products.

Otherwise, the staff here was cheerful, the baked goods were fresh and they kept them coming and they have a nice selection of different specialty products right down to cinnamon butter and olde style peanut butter (in different styles such as honey roasted which is heaven!). Love visiting here in the fall and stopping in whenever I am passing through the state.

Great quality! But the prices are high! I purchased 1/2 gallon cider from them for $5.99. Went to Bishop's in Guilford and got 1 gallon of cider for $5.99. Did a side by side taste test and I would say they are the same. You can't go wrong with the cider donuts but try to get them just after they come out of the oven. Friendly staff.

We had a fun time at the Apple Hunt. The kids got a free T-shirt, and a ton of apples. The Apple Barrel Store had a large menu for hot foods to sit in or to go. In addition, they had a large array of bakery goods and baking supplies, as well as a counter with fresh pastries. In addition, they had a coffee shop. They also had a small gift shop area. You can use your card for everything there. The food there was delicious, there is also a kids menu that includes kid favorites. I recommend the apple cider & apple cider donuts. You can eat inside or outside the Apple Barrel.
They also offer seasonal Pick Your Own Apples, and have special events including mazes, pony rides, an delicious foods outdoors.

Everything was great until we went to go pick pears and we had no instruction were to pick the pears so we went to pick pears and no one said a peep until we were going to the register to check out and a car came speeding past us and the person in side said ruldly was like thise pares aren't ripe so go pay for them because we aren't going to do anything with them. And then we went to the register and they were just rude and disrespectful to all of us. And they made us pay for them and told us they were inedible and still made us pay for them.

Beautiful Orchard to spend the day with family.
From golf playing to sightseeing. Hayrides, pumpkin picking, apple picking. Lots of desserts and let's not forget the veggies too. Last but not least, the corn maze was wonderful. You will definitely enjoy the day.

Both website and voicemail say they are open til 8pm on Fridays. We arrived at 7:10pm and the doors are locked. Employees cleaning up outside play dumb when we ask what time they close. Glad we drove all the way there for nothing. Wont make that mistake again!

My family has been picking apples at Lymans for years. But this season you pay a set price for a certain size bag. We paid 20 dollars for a bag that held about 7 pounds of apples. New system is a rip off and will not be going back

We got some baked goods from the bakery. It was dry and stale. Really not a fan of their food. Even the deli food is just ok. However, I would recommend the kettle Korn if you're looking for a snack there. It was buttery, sweet, and delicious.

After reading other's dismay with your business, I felt the need to add to their writings. We have visited twice within the last 6 weeks. Your deli is a complete mess without any organization or guidance. We came in shortly after your re-opening and your staff was happy and the food was good. Your manager made sure that everyone was happy that was waiting in line and thanked them for being there. Now everyone looks miserable, your food is horrible, the wait is too long and there isn't a presence in the market that there used to be. You had it right Lyman's a year ago when you made the changes that you did. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE. Whomever this "Ben" is that you have mentioned in your prior copy and paste emails, there ISN'T anyone behind that counter taking any ownership or making any changes. You should have stopped when you had it right!!! Look at the faces on the miserable people that work for you....are you looking at them or through them because you certainly aren't paying attention. We will now go to Bishops as they smile and remain consistent. Shame on you.

Been going here on and off for years.

Been going here on and off for years.
Unfortunately the last batch of pies we bought seemed to be more of a commercial type product than they were on the past.
The apple cider was still great, and they had lots of bakery items.
But they seem to be trying to be more of a cafe and specialty foods store, and now carry many items that ate unrelated to the Apple orchard they are known for.

I love this store (The Apple Barrel). We have been going there all my life for the best apple cider, Apple cider doughnuts, and we love going to the orchard to pick our own fruits in season. You will never find apple cider doughnuts as good anywhere else!

Very cute place with a nice selection of local produce and prepared foods. I'm particularly fond of the selection of cheeses and "stranger" vegetables, like kohlrabi, that many commercial markets don't carry. Also, do yourself a favor and try their apple cider doughnuts!

Our favorite Orchard in CT: many varieties of apples and pears, a huge pumpkin patch, and their Apple Barrel country store for cider donuts and apple pie once you've worked up an appetite. Can get very crowded, and surrounding roads can get backed up, so go early.

Beautiful place but I was very unhappy about the apples. I saw a clerk opening a box of Macoun apples to put on the shelves, I took some out of the box thinking that these are the freshest. I had one when I got home and it was soft and not tart like it is supposed to be. I feel they were old stored apples.
Someone at work heard my story and went to Rogers Orchards and got me some Macoun apples and they were hard and tart like they should be.

Lyman Orchards holds a special place in my heart. As a Connecticut native I remember when they hosted their own version of the Haunted Graveyard here during the lead-up to Halloween and I remember the glorious and legendary corn maze they created where you could spend an hour just having fun with your lover. I remember picking apples in the rolling hills and the scenic meadows and bucolic willows alongside their country store. The store! They sell fresh fruit, cider, jams, pastries, candies, and some of the plumpest and most perfect pumpkins you ll find in all of New England! Their store also has bathrooms!

It really is a great place and the people I have interacted with their have been nothing less than pleasant in all my recollections. One of the nicest places to visit on the state and one I highly recommend checking out and exploring!
