I love Lyman Orchards because of its diversity in its goods. The staff there is knowledgeable helpful always smiling makes you wanna come back and see them again. And last but certainly not least Lyman Orchards goods are incredible they have everything from Donuts to candy apples. The best thing is if you don't like what they have to offer you can go pick your own.

Store had Fresh fruits and vegetables, pies. The apple cider was great - able to see the freshness in cider. The corn maze, pony ride, ice cream. Overall enjoyed the trip. The sit out area is clean and well maintained.

If you want a fantastic apple and pumpkin picking spot this is the place. There is a wide variety of apples to pick and lots of pumpkin choices too. Stop by the store on your way home and pick up some delicious homemade pies, preserves and butters. You must also try the apple cider and apple cider donuts! I loved my time here and wish I could take all the wonderful treats back to Utah.

Went to get a gallon of cider, knowing that the Lyman's store has always been a little pricey (Although it's a destination market, to be expected). $8.00 for a gallon of cider...$11.00 for mulling spices...$9.00 for a single candy apple?? Needless to say I went elsewhere.

While PYO is still acceptable, Lyman's, your store has priced itself out of the market - even for Durham!

The pick your own apple & pumpkin farms here are amazing! The apple cider doughnuts are even better!! <3 I love their market with all of their homemade pies, pastries, butters, jams, etc! A great place to visit with your children or visit with a loved one. Great photo opportunities and a place to create memories, I've gone since I was a child and continue to go every autumn if i can!

The sandwiches we purchased were good. Can't say the same for the accompanying potato salad. It was poorly cooked and down right rubbery. Totally inedible. There were several jars of pumpkin butter that were improperly sealed. The discs in the lids were actually bulging. Employees seemed oblivious to the potential health risk of improperly sealed canned goods particularly when they are displayed and stored at room temperature. Prices are generally very high averaging 30 to 60 percent more than local stores for the same quality. Shop elsewhere and save your money.

I've visited several times with my family, but my last visit (opening day), I was very dissapointed.

My family ate lunch at the Apple Barrel on March 16th, 2019. Both kids ordered the chicken tenders. When we received the food, one of the tenders were torn apart to check for doneness by the cook. Clearly, the chicken was raw inside, but they decided to serve it to my kids anyway. I opened a second one, and that too was raw. Is this the standards that Lyman Orchards hire as cooks? My kids could have been poisoned. Very disappointed.

Its time to write a review just from my last experience. I grew up in the area and I remember fond trips to lymans on the weekend to do fun things. It was a wonderful place to go. Over the past few years I have really paid attention to how Lymans had become a shadow of its former glory. Years ago the lake by the store was crystal clear of brush the entire way around and there were three jets to prevent the water from developing algae. Those jets broke or were removed and now are gone and the lake is gross on one side. The same side that has tons of brush that makes the lake inaccessible from pretty much anywhere but by the store. If you go in the store and read the products they are no longer made on the premises like in the past. It is now all brought in from farms in Vermont and New Hampshire. The only thing left is the bakery which does create great desserts. One day the conveyer belts in the check out lines broke and rather then replace them with new ones wood boards were placed and now the customer has to push the merchandise to the clerk. The prices have gotten just outrageous, a pie went from 9.99 to 12.99 in one swoop over last winter. Donuts are smaller then my palm and 10 dollars a dozen.

The final straw came when we went there to take some family photos. A manager of the premises approached us, he did not address us but he did address the photographer to sternly explain to her that if she wants to do photography on the premises she needed to contact the office for permission to do so. Initially I thought that he was simply informing us because they need to know who is there and make appropriate arrangements so I called the next day to see what the requirements were. I thought it was going to be a 15 to 25 dollar fee for insurance purposes or something which I could understand. I was informed that a fee of $200 was required to take photos and on the weekends it was more. This to me was simply their way of making money anyway they could. It is a great place to bring children but it is no longer the family farm it once was. It is now a machine that looks for anyway to make money. I partly dont blame them because I am sure that they have to remain competitive in the market which is getting harder and harder. I just miss the magic of 25 years ago and wish it could be that way again.

I come here every year but this year I arrived at 3:15 on a Thursday and they were all out of Macoun apples. I asked one of the workers and he replied, Yes, there were no more. Could they possibly have no more apples available at the height of the season and in the middle of the afternoon? I left and decided not to purchase other items as I would need to go to another orchard to get the apples I desired, so I might as well purchase everything all in one place. Disappointed as I drove a long way.

Apple picking at Lyman Orchards is never complete without a stop at the Apple Barrel. Fresh apple pie, cider and other treats to wet your whistle. Apple butter on toast is always a perfect breakfast combo. Apple cider donuts baked to perfection. Friendly staff and delicious food in an idyllic setting, what more could you want?

Yesterday we had a tee time on the Player course at 1:57 which we had never played. We arrived at the Starter's shack at 1:55 and waited a couple of minutes and a starter never came !! We started our round which was very frustrating as we did not have a map. At the end of the round I asked the cart attendant why you do not provide maps for this very tough course. His reply was that the starter was supposed to supply us with one!!. You has a junior event going on on the Jones course and it seemed that all the attention was on that event and the Player course was being ignored. The course was in very nice shape but tough to
negotiate blind shots and unknown hazards

we were in to get food from the apple barrel. The line was very long so we had a long time to watch what was going on, approximately 25 minutes. In that time after our order was taken, we watched one of the three food preps NEVER change his gloves once and while wearing them he scratched his scalp, backside, continually put them into the back of his pants to pull them up, wipe his nose, among other things, the list just goes on. As a person with allergies and here once a week, watching him not only break health code but contaminate by not switching gloves in between sandwiches, I now know I can no longer eat here for fear of contamination from dirty work habits. I work in a kitchen,I know what the codes are, many of which were being broken. It doesn't take a genius to know not to scratch your junk then make a sandwich. I don't care how busy it is, cleanliness is SO important when dealing with food so people don't get sick. I pulled the girl who took my order aside and told her about the situation and she did not pull him aside or have him change gloves, wash his hands, nothing. I paid for two lunches that were two filthy to eat.

If there was a zero star rating, I would have put it here. I was planning on taking photos here in the sunflower field, but they don t let anyone after 4:30pm. It would ve have been nice to know that before driving a long way and never seeing it on the website. It also said it was $1 admission per person, however, it s actually $10 per person. I even said to the attendant that my sister and I wanted to go in to take a few photos just in the entrance and then we would get out. The woman said it would take us 1 hr 30 min to get through the maze, but even that sounds ridiculous. Maybe 30 min to an 1 hr but NOT 1 hr 30 min. Unbelievable. I am utterly dissatisfied and disgusted with the customer service here. Take your business elsewhere.

Lyman orchard's is everything that it needs to be; the pick your own apples, pears, and nectarines is a great way to spend the day. The apples, especially, are unbelievable, flavorful and lovely. Last summer we missed the berries but we plan to pick berries this summer. Spend a day at Lyman Orchards, you will really enjoy it. Take the kids, it is very kid friendly.

We went out of our way to get the whole family together for some berry picking - no easy feat. We took an hours long drive to come out to Lymans and they turned us away even though they weren't near closing! Naturally it ruined our whole day! Mad and regretful that we hadn't chosen another orchard instead we decided to at least check out their store. They seem to market the place as "better than homemade", but that couldn't be further from the truth. It was pretty much all the same stuff you could pick up at your local supermarket, except Lyman's was charging outlandish prices. None of it is organic, homemade, or anything that could separate it from something off a supermarket shelf. After this experience we have no intent of ever returning to Lymans.

Great place. Beautiful with plenty of pick your own options. Homemade meals and treats in their store are sooooooo delicious. The one thing I would say is they need to work on their labels. I bout a few homemade meals with absolutely no reheating instructions however they were delicious. Highly recommend the macaroni salad.

Great first time strawberry picking experience with family. We went there first thing in the morning around 8:30 and it was not too crowded at that time though people had started pouring in. Strawberries were ripe, fresh and in abundance. We had a very good time there and spent about an hour

Was super busy, considering the location is middle of nowhere. Extremely fresh large produce.pricier than grocery store but the size of the veggies means your dollar goes waaaaay further.corn maze was awesome. There are corn cops everywhere if you get lost.takes about a half hour to get through if you don't get lost using the map, and lots of plane trivia throughout the maze.$10 adult, $5 kid. Apple products were outrageously over priced. Apple sauce for $6 for a small jar.crazy.fun day, huge orchard, lots to see and do.it would take a whole weekend to explore it all.

This is my 3rd year going here to pick apples. My boyfriend s family tradition was to pick apples at Lyman s and so we re continuing that tradition. It s always and enjoyable experience! The only reason I don t give 5 stars is because the prices to pick apples are just too high.

Super disappointing that the Apple cannon is only open certain days. Not even on a holiday....... UPDATE: to respond to you, no it definitely wasn't. I went there specifically for that. We went in to the front desk and asked to do the apple cannon. We were told it was closed and only open on weekends. So yeah, it was closed on the holiday.

I love the idea of being able to eat our store bought foods outdoor, sit at the picnic table facing the pond and enjoy the fresh baked goods. You can pick your own fruits at the orchard then come to this store for a quick bite. Such a relaxing atmosphere!

My first time there today and i was impressed by how organized and neat this place was with a friendly staff.I work full time and have little time to cook so I am looking into heathy options of frozen half-cooked food for occasional usage. Thought of trying their frozen chicken pie and just had it as our dinner, unfortunately it really dissappointed me. It was toooo salty and my 15month old toddler threw it up and the rest of family refused to eat it due to high amounts of salt. :( However the blueberry bread that I got is very moist and yummy and my toddler loved it. I guess I will stay away from their frozen pies.
