Ive been with this church since i was in sunday school. Ive seen it host foreign pastors, hire women pastors, allow homeless people into services...now the teachers help my half german kids to be bilingual and my children have no problems playing with their cousins. I have also experience a few racist issue with other Lutheran churches as a young boy. Im glad to say i havent dealt with it at this one ever.

This has been my church home for almost 20 years. The music is beautiful, the preaching is engaging and based upon Scripture, and the congregation is active in the community. Our Lutheran Community Food Ministry has been serving weekday meals to the homeless and the working poor continuously since 1982. Come share God's grace with us! You can even preview our worship services via the Livestream app or our website.

Perhaps one would assume an in-town church in Midtown might be filled with somewhat aloof congregants, but to see for ourselves, we visited & viewed this beautiful, awe-inspiring sanctuary & joined in singing with fairly exuberant voices around us singing hymns. One Pastor led us in worship & prayers, another had a message which resonated with us, a powerful organist and choir accompanied and we felt welcomed for communion. There was even a message by a pastor for children who could then enjoy their own version of church during the message portion. No one stared at us & few ignored us, many people smiled and shook hands - the big surprise tho was how friendly most were ! - we were welcomed by individuals - not overwhelmed, but apparently, sincerely interested people After the service, we followed some people to a really nice, really open area for coffee and stayed a while talking with people who spoke with us. There were some interesting sounding classes listed, maybe we'll try those too next time. We do plan to go back.
