Historic costume shop in the heart of SoCo. This place has been helping keep Austin weird since the '80s and still going strong! Open year round for costume/themed parties and of course the #1 spot for Halloween. Awesome staff help round this place out really well. The crappy parking availability and the overgrown "mom&pop shop" style bring it down a bit, but half stars aren't an option. An Austin "must see" for sure.
lucy in disguise is the defacto costume store in austin. go there - they have what you need. it does get really crowded and the clothes/costumes are packed in, so it may take some digging, but they've got it!

Costume shops are difficult to find, period. But Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds is hard to miss. Located on South Congress, this place is perfect if you need any last-minute cheap costume or something very intricate. You're able to rent or buy costumes and their party department is full of all sorts of accessories.
The best costume store I have ever seen with a little bit of everything. You will find all kinds of odd / fun things if you look around!
Been to Lucy in Disguise before and went in again today wearing a face shield due to my asthma. Eventually I was approached about wearing a mask...no one was rude or anything and I explained my situation. However, I did feel sort of pushed out quicker because I think the staff felt like I would make others be aggressive if I didn't have a regular mask?
This is after Gov Abbott rescinded his regulations and I was still trying to comply with the store rules. This was never a problem before. It's a shame because I really like the costume selection. In all honesty, if customers are upset at me for only wearing a face shield, why are they going out in the first place? Wouldn't it be safer to stay home? All things aside, just rather disappointed with the reasoning.
Halloween is fast approaching it looks different options from renting to buying to buying accessories at these guys they got you covered. Every conceivable kind of costume. I wish to taking pictures just so I could have found my way around the store and kept getting lost so much of it shoes aprons dresses uniforms did you doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least check it out once
this place is funy and cool.... but.... I almost tried on a costume that had someone else's remaining dried up personal liquids on it.... ewwwwww never again
A bit pricey but the staff is very attentive and they can find costume bits and pieces for almost any theme you're looking for

I was invited to a formal wedding ceremony with all the trimmings and didn't own anything formal enough to wear. I couldn't afford to blow up to $500.00 on a dress but Lucy in Disguise saved the day! Almost received as many compliments as the bride!
hands down - the coolest shop EVER! i was just in Austin for the second time, and wandered into this little gem. as a fan of both film and Halloween, i was a kid in a candy shop. literally, anything you can imagine. staff was rad too.

This place is insane. I'm sure it's much busier during halloween season. They do have whatever you need. If they're out, they'll help you come up with new ideas. That was pretty cool.
They have some very inexpensive earrings there that I like to buy also they will change the earring to us snap on for free and I like that for my granddaughter! Their costumes are just outrageous they're so beautiful I love just looking around in there!

just went in here for the first time the other day; got myself a wig for my halloween costume. tons of cool stuff in there, and they have even more in storage, so definitely ask if you're looking for something specific and can't find it!
Parking is absolutely insane. The store itself is pretty cool and has a large selection of costumes for sale and rent.
The place in Austin to get a costume. Be warned, they have so much stuff that it can be a little clausterfobic looking through the racks for just the right costume. They have a helpful staff and a great selection of eclectic items to help build that perfect costume. They also have a good selection of wigs and and makeup as well. Even if you do not have an event this is a cool place to walk through.

A costume store for all your costume needs! I was incredibly impressed by the size and selection of the store. This place is also great if you're just looking for a rental, considering quite a few of their items are offered for rental. Their items ranged from masks, make-up, full-body suits, and much more-- I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a costume or anything similar.
Their very friendly and helpful plus their costumes have no limit in imagination and it's easy to find the location of what your looking for

Any costume you can think of, I am pretty sure they have it. I have never seen such a diverse selection. If you are looking for a halloween costume I would recommend coming here at least a month prior if you don't want to be picking from leftovers as costumes go fast!
best. costume. shop. ever. probably the coolest thing about this place, with the exception that basically anything you want can be found on the sales floor, is that you have the option to either rent or purchase the pieces. lots of great vintage wear and awesome dresses.
This has to be the funkiest shop in town even the employees look the part... definitely stop in and look around.
They have a lot of neat stuff but I would never sell to them again I was in a hurry and agreed it was my fault for accepting it but there were extenuating circumstances of time they gave me nothing for some great vintage clothes again I accept responsibility but I do feel somewhat mislead the way that it always done

NICE to mingle around here and watch. Plenty of different types, cultures, historic era's of the presented fashion with a lot of space. However, it is rather for amatuers than for professionals. Since the lion share of the garments are polyester quality and not velvet, linnen, silk etc. And yet, if you want to rent a costume or get one for a reasonable price: Go for it here.

halloween on 6th street is a big deal and if you want a badass costume this is the place you go. they have costumes for sale or rent. prices are high but they have the best stuff!
Very fun place to visit if you live in Austin or just visiting. A huge collection of costumes and props and some very creative people here to give you advice and help you find the right items or ideas. On our last visit the kids wanted to blend in with the Texas crowd so they got some huge cowboy hats and had a blast walking up and down Congress. Visit this place every time I am in Austin.

This was my 1st experience w/the store this year. I walked in not having any idea what I wanted to dress as for a Halloween party. The associates were amazing & I was able to select a costume to rent in under 1 hour. the store was crowded but the associates made me feel like I was their priority. Each of them has their own 'area' of expertise & works together as an amazing team. I look forward to coming back the next time I need a costume!
Great store with almost unlimited selection - for adults and teens but not for small children unfortunately.
