Lucky Jack's Bar and Grill Review

We heard about Lucky Jack s on our trucker s app. It s easy to get to right off the 70 and has a few parking spots for large vehicles (like semi-trucks). This is officially our favorite place to eat. Their steak burgers were heaven sent, and I liked their mashed potatoes. You can tell they care about the food they serve. The service was sincerely friendly and accommodating. We went during lunch so there were no crowds and service was quick. The place was clean. We really found a gem of a restaurant here. Will come again the next time we pass through.

Went for bar.Was the only one there.Cheap drinks and they let me play whatever on the touchtunes jukebox no charge.Bartender was attentive and good at conversation I didn't feel ignored at all

Stopped in on our way home traveling through and ran into this Gem. Some of the best food I have had in A long time. My husband and son both had steaks and they where both very happy with there food and thought that it was cooked perfectly. If ever traveling back through Illinois we will stop by again for sure.

Great food, Great service and atmosphere. For the quality of the food the prices are very reasonable. We travel a lot and plan on stopping when ever we are in the area.

While there were some issues with sauces (marinara and bbq dipping sauces were both extremely strange), the food itself was well cooked, hot, juicy, and tasty. Wait times for food were a bit long given the lack of business at the time, but they're still just starting out. Looking forward to coming again after they settle in some.

We tried this place for breakfast. Nobody was there. The staff were eating. We just seated ourselves. The breakfast menu consisted of 4 or 5 items. I was going to order the biscuits and gravy and they informed us that they were out of biscuits. We left. The food might be great. I'll never know though because I'll never go back.

Laurel our server was not only knowledgeable about the menu items she also cook so we had a discussion on food preparation is very interesting she could be a chef if she wanted to cook for a living. It's a new place. It's clean and the silverware is a nice heavy flatware not cheap junk. I had steak and green beans they were absolutely fabulous the green beans were cooked just right not too soft not too crisp; they were perfectly glazed with butter and a little bit of fresh garlic mixed in with them; they were probably the best green beans I have had in years. The steak was great too. It had a very rich depth of flavor, it was a sirloin so it could've been a little more tender but sirloin is not as tender as other steaks because it doesn't have all the fat. It tasted great and it was cooked exactly the way I like it. Beloved husband's salad was cold and crisp and fresh with homemade dressings, apparently they make all the dressings on the premises and they are delicious. Service was spot on, and Laurel was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu choices. They are not going to be serving breakfast any longer so it will be opening later in the day not 6 AM which is posted I will adjust the hours when I get a chance. It's definitely a hidden gem and Pocahontas and worth the trip. It's right off the interstate in Pocahontas you can't miss it. Visit lucky Jack's where you don't have to be lucky to get a great meal at a very reasonable price.
Believe me when I tell you we have paid a whole lot more for a whole lot less. This is an absolute little hidden gem and Pocahontas, go and see it you won't be sorry! It's also got full liquor and pool tables and other fun stuff to do. Plenty of parking too!

.50 wing night and there are no wings to serve! We used to stop in 3 or 4 times a week. My wife and I are down to 1 a week cause we love the staff and the environment. If things don t start being managed better I would guess we will be down to 0 times a week!

The only thing lucky about Lucky Jack s is I don t have to go back again. The atmosphere was cold and dark. The service was ok, but the wait for our food was way too long considering there were only 5 tables with customers. There were 3 waitresses to cover these 5 tables. They also use a local off-brand of soda products that was not to my liking. The hamburger I ordered was cooked properly, but the bun was greasy looking and the butter they used to grill the bun tasted old. The french fries were pre-seasoned and tasted somewhat fishy. The prices were also high for a place that looked like a roadside cafe without offering some of the quaintness of one...so Lucky Jack s may be lining their pockets by charging St. Louis prices for a dining experience you won t want to repeat.

It was ok. Meat was a little tough. Aujus didn't have much flavor and i asked for it with no cheese... it came with what looked like cheese had been picked off.. service was fine

Food was average and we waited 45 minutes for sandwiches. We were the only table and there was 4 of us. It was our first and last time there.

Kind of an out of the way place just off I-70 at Pocahontas. Great food with very large portions. Our group of 7 had huge chef salads, 1/2 lb. burgers, chicken sandwiches, sirloin steak, loaded baked potato, 50 cent wings, very large potato skins and bread pudding for dessert. Had to take dissert home. Help was very friendly. If your in the area, give this place a try.

This food was great. The place is clean and the staff friendly and attentive. Definitely worth stopping in.

Surprisingly good food! The chicken sandwich was juicy and tender. The steak sandwich was also tender and delicious. Large portions and great service.

Stopped in for lunch and got a couple of burgers and fries. The food and service was great.

I pulled my semi truck in here for my 30 minute break. Food was excellent! I ordered the gumbo which was very flavorful. It almost filled me up. Also ordered a french dip which was delish too. Fries were crisp. Everything was hot and i was out in 35 minutes. My only complaint is my iced tea tasted like chlorine. Probably just the local water supply. Good service too. Ill stop again for sure.

My lovely wife and I stopped in for lunch Friday. I can say it was a pleasant experience from the time we walked in until the time we left. We both ordered their cheeseburger and fries. Both burgers and fries were DELICIOUS!! The burgers were fresh NOT frozen!! Nila(bartender) is AWESOME!! I never had to ask for another beer. She had me a fresh cold beer just as I was finishing the other beer! Their cook/chef came out. I spoke with him about how much we enjoyed our lunch and thanked him for doing a great job! I don't remember his name, but a very nice, polite guy!! Restaurant is clean as well as clean restrooms! Prices are reasonable!! We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Absolutely great food and waitress was very kind.i am an over the road driver and they have free showers and the food is awesome. I recommend the steak wrap.one of the best I have ever eaten

Great food !!! Steak was great, big baked potatoe, green beans tasted like they were staight from the garden big meaty shrimp and half off appetizers on Monday.

I reserved a large table ahead of time (10 people total) and by the time we arrived our table was all set and ready for us. The entire staff was aware of us ahead of time and prepared. Our waitress was amazing. The New York cheesecake that we ordered for the table was delicious as well as the nacho appetizer. Our bartender Amie took special requests and was knowledgeable and listened well. We only had to tell her what style of drink (sweet and fruity) and she would serve a mouth watering drink that you weren't sure you needed until you took your first sip. Her "Girly girl" drink was a favorite among the 10 women birthday celebration as well as her "cherry lifesaver". The staff took extra care to make sure me and my guests had a memorable time and I got tons of compliments on my choice of venue. I would be completely confident in scheduling another event at Lucky Jacks!

Terrible cut of sirloin. Grilled zucchini was good and they had $1 beers on special.

This is a small town restaurant on the outside, but the inside would rival or be better than restaurants twice as expensive in Indianapolis. We had our dog with us and even though their patio wasn't open yet they put a table outside for us so we could keep her with us as we ate dinner. I can't thank them enough. The tasty food is a cherry on top of the experience at this place. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are going between Indianapolis and St.
Louis.

Really surprised by a restaurant of this quality popping up is a small town like Pocahontas. Food was fantastic twice baked potato was unbelievable. Only complaint would be the price of steaks available is pretty high but at the same time they are of high quality and cooked perfectly. Lunch special and sandwich prices are very reasonable.

The best place around. The place is super clean and they really care about the customers.. The food is Fantastic and the price is on par. It shows that they really put there heart and soul into this business. I will be back!

I give 3 stars because I did not enter to the place. There was a message on the door saying they do not require employees to wear a mask. Food can be great!

Stopped in road weary and still hours from home. It was 20 mins till close on a Sunday night but they were happy to serve us and the food was delicious!

I love this place, there is a bar, a restaurant very good by the way and parking for truck !!! the staff is really friendly !! when you take a lunch you can take a shower for free (for trucker)! !

This place is an awesome and clean restaurant. They care about all their customers and try to make sure that they're having an enjoyable meal. As a truck driver I eat at alot of restaurants and this by far is superior I highly recommend it to anybody in a truck or car they have several places for trucks to park and also it's extremely easy access on and off the interstate don't pass this Jewel by. Last but not least they have free shower for drivers

Had the Salmon special with the new chef of three day he's out of California ... He has the style and taste I'm used too... I just happen to be driving from California on my way to Indiana Kokomo.. Also had the triple chocolate cake with strawberry/ blueberry vanilla ice cream / ice milk so so good

Price is not the problem. Service is! We had to ask for our drinks twice after the salads where put on the table. The prime rib was ordered medium rare and was crunchy, burnt, cold and had no taste. My son never got his milk. They gave us 20% off and we never asked they knew it was that bad of service. If not for the discount I would never have left a tip. Don't waste your time I am sure it won't be open much longer.

I'm giving it 1 star because 0 is not an option. We seated ourselves and there was only one other table when we got there. We proceeded to order. My husband ordered a hamburger at which time the waitress asked what side he wanted: French fries, side salad or fruit. He ordered a salad with French dressing. I ordered a hamburger with a side salad and ranch. She asked me how I wanted my burger cooked and I told her well. Then she went back and asked my husband how he wanted his, medium rare was the response. We waited a very long time for the food. When it finally came it wasn't right at all. My burger was medium rare and my husband's was well done. We got fries instead of salads. My husband asked about the salads and that they should have came long before the burgers Her response was that fries usually came with the burgers. Then why did you give us a choice? She went to get the salads and brought them back without dressings. Never once apologized for getting the order wrong. We have NEVER gotten up and walked out but we did today. And so did the people who ended up sitting behind us. They got tired of waiting for someone to acknowledge that they were even there. Service was horrendous. Won't be back.

Really enjoyed the food. Steak was cooked perfectly. One of the tastiest Caesar salads I've ever had.

For a brand new joint I thought the food was pretty good. Decentportions and the salad had lots of love in it. The chicken was moist and well done. Had a fried cheesecake that was super. They had a really good beer special even though I didn't have any it was worth noting. The staff was really friendly. I would come back again.

We had a very good meal at Lucky Jack's. Loved the gumbo soup and my family loved the vegetable beef soup. Great salads, chicken wings, and catfish. Enjoyed the pretzels and cheese appetizer also. Try it you will like it!
