Great local grown and yummy good. Great wraps, smoothies, and more.
We went veering off on the side road at the last minute when this place showed up on a search. So glad we did. Our chicken bacon ranch wrap was delicious, the potato chips were great and the smoothie was yum!
Bought a cute little handmade ornament for my tree next Christmas and some flavored salt.
Bathroom is around the back and unexpectedly clean and nice!
Recommend this place to stop on the way around the island.
Had the laulau bowl. For 9$ it was a rip. All leaves. No meat and two balls of rice. Has a market inside for quick drinks and snacks. But i don t think it s worth much of a stop
Friendly service, peaceful and quiet location away from the main highway. Their Island Nachos are delicious!!
Great shave ice and nice little gift shop.
Also has a snack bar with smoothies, hot dogs etc. and some basic groceries.
Friendliest owners ever! Best ice cream is sold here.
The service at Low Store is amazing. Our favorites are the Kalua pig nachos and their shave ice.
Best Nachos I ve ever had. And, the Hawaiian Shaved Ice really hit the spot. Small store with a friendly atmosphere. Come and meet Mr. Pickles, the neighborhood Cat Greeter .
We love and miss low store! Very friendly staff and owners! They are a big help when u forget to buy onions so you don't have to drive all the way back to Hilo! They have most of the little things you may have forgotten be to buy while in town. Down to green cans of propane to emergenC packs they also have good food and shakes and shaved ice HIGHLY RECOMMEND to stop in and take a peek!
As a visitor, this place is great. Good selection, good prices, friendly people. Great take away and ready to eat foods, too.
And they have an awesome bodega cat!
best store ever! everything about this place is awesome! I love low store!
A great find on our way to the Botanical Gardens. I had the Hawaiian Nachos (delicious). My 3 traveling companions also loved their lunch entrees. We had delicious creamy local ice cream for dessert (Mango, Passion Fruit, and Chocolate Coconut Macadamia Nut). The owners are friendly and patient in explaining items on the menu. Highly recommend this place. When you sit outside the ocean is across the street.
It's a nice place with everything u need and more. Food there delicious n tasty.
Great little hidden mom and pops store. We loved the shaved ice (snow cones). They have local flavors such as Lilikoi (passion fruit), Coconut, and guava. There is a little seating area is outside which adds to the county ambiance, which we really enjoyed.
This is what shaved ice is supposed to taste like. Awesome, thanks
Just a little shop by the side of the road, but it's a local stop for food and some basic convenience store groceries. Their food is limited but pretty good. The rice bowl is nothing but rice and meat, which is a little disappointing, but the nachos are a completely different matter. The salsa on the nachos is very tasty, and it's enough food for two. There's a reason they feature it.
Lowe's has way more local style Furnishings made for this climate than Home Depot does, the Home Depot has a wider selection of lumber though.
I love the serene location which gives a glimpse of the ocean on the horizon. Their food was delicious and the staff super friendly.
Great place for a bite of local flavor! Very friendly staff and great shave ice.
If you like shaved ice (sno cones), you need to check this place out!
This was our first trip to Hawaii (Big Island). We wanted to see the whole island during our 8 day stay so we went exploring to see all the major sights, tried to use different roads and have as many 'shave ice' as possible. After spending the morning at the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden down the road, we stumbled across The Low Store with the shave ice road sign out front and we are so glad we stopped!! If you go to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden Botanical Gardens, take the time to drive 1.8 miles down to The Low Store and check this local spot out!!
We had Shave Ice here and it was by far the best, most flavorful, and biggest ones we had during our trip. We made a point of rating all the shaved ice we had during our trip and this place had the best. While we didn't have lunch there, I wish we had, it smelled so good!! A couple of locals stopped in for the Loco Moco and it looked yummy and so did the burger and fries.
Note, they have a clean well kept restroom around the back, just ask for the key at the counter.
Great customer service! I will be back for my iced coffee!
The best shaved ice had on Hawaii so far. Really good and it's just $3.50.
Great little place for lunch, or just a quick stop for some snacks. Plus souvenirs and fruits for sale, at the end of the scenic route.
ok service..Not the happiest bunch of people..food is ok.. accepts EBT..not much else, this part of Hamakua
Friendly customer service.
Their "Kalua Nachos" is delish...
Great place to get a quick bite or beverages or some fresh fruit along the Onomea scenic drive on the Hamakua coast of the Big Island. Covered tables and chairs are available.
Little old store that has great bread and good sandwiches and hamburgers at a very reasonable price.
A charmer...friendly staff and owner. Stop by and try the Iced Coffee.
Sweet low key local market at the end of the scenic route with food to order, great shaved ice, local made ice pops, ice cream, any needed food stuffs and nice little gift area. Owners were really nice too. Covered tables and chairs for relaxed eating.
Friendliest little cafe & local store ever ! Found some great little keepsakes for our family and friends . "Janet" a sweetheart.
We found this place by accident, glad we did. Best fruit smoothies on the island. We went out of our way to go back for another on the way home.
The owner is very nice.
Really good fruit smoothies and wonderful ice coffee with coffee ice cubes. Brilliant!
Mom and pops. Love the atmosphere. Good stop for food (lunch plate) and some souvenir shopping. Outdoor seating feels so good w the ocean breeze. Good place to stop and just chill w Shaved iced. Not so tourisy, locals come here too. Near botanical garden.
Good surprise at the end of the Old Mamalahoa Highway, coming from Hilo. It's a kind of convenient store, which provides fresh meals. It's simple but tasty, prepared with good ingredients, healthy style.. Very nice spot for a quick lunch break.
After the small tourist store everyone stopped at the first store.
The line was so long,so we continued on for about 5 minutes along the road, when we came to a general store opposite the Basketball Court.
What a surprise, great Shaved Ice, Smoothies done with real fruit and not so expensive.
The two ladies serving were so friendly and helpful.
Avoid the crowds and go to this place you won't be disappointed.
Delicious shave ice! The proprietors are warm and embody aloha. A lovely place to stop a while.
Been following them on IG, finally got a chance to come and check them out. Cute little place. Will definitely be back.
Great little place for shave ice and convenience store items overlooking the ocean
Quality smoothies and coffee for fair prices. Very good
Accidentally found this place. Food was surprisingly good and cheap. Traditional Hawaiian dishes. The stop there is worthy!
The store sells food, beverages, and a few household items. The produce was a little expensive, but comes from local farms. We stopped there to get Hawaiian Shave Ice. Very good with lots of choices in fruit flavored syrups. Having the icy treat over vanilla ice cream helped off set the sweetness.
Love Low Store! Great plate lunches, amazing laulau and most refreshing fruit smoothies!
Absolutely excellent iced coffee. My brother got a shaved ice/snowcone and loved it. It makes me wish we had a place close that was this good!
Very nice people working there. Good food, and you can buy more than food and groceries here.
Huge shave ice on a hot day. Local made ice cream is as good and fresh tasting as it sounds. Must stop.
Great service, food is ono. Give them props for how well they run the business. My favorite store in hawaii. Anybody that never been should really have a quick visit if they get the chance. Aloha
Small little stand with delicious meals and really good smoothies. We had the Hawaiian plate lunch and thought every part of it was wonderfully delicious. Also had a smoothie and a coffee and all of it was fantastic.
Great place to stop for a bite to eat or souviner. Tasty shave ice, friendly staff!
This little store had the best shave ice. They served real fruit flavors and the staff was friendly. It is a definite must for shave ice.
EVERYTHING looks delicious! I just had the island nachos and they were amazing
We love this place! We come for the great smoothies and the sweet cats! Great covered lanai for sitting and watching the world go by.
Best shaved ice at the end of a gorgeous scenic drive. Will stop by again for their plate lunch.
Awesome old family owned lunch and refreshment and grocery shop. Like a quick stop with delicious iced cream, shave ice, fruit smoothies, and plate lunches. My kids and I love visiting here when we are passing through the area. Plus they have a cat my kids like to say hi to, Mr. Pickles :)
the people who work here end up being like family they are always nice food is good love their smoothies and the prices are reasonable sometimes somethings are cheaper here then regular grocery stores
Great bunch of people. They make you feel right at home. Off the beaten path. Well worth finding.
A true hidden gem found along the scenic route. A cute store with amazing shave ice and smoothies. We can t wait to go back to try their lunch menu!
We asked a Botanical Gardens golf cart driver to recommend a place for lunch, and he suggested Low Store Deli & Fruit Stand. What a perfect recommendation! Three of us had sandwiches while the 4th member of our party enjoyed a shave ice. The food was delicious and portion sizes were generous -- well worth the short wait. Additionally, the patio was a comfortable and clean place to sit back, soak in some sunshine and gecko-watching while we enjoyed the delicious food, and bask in the ocean view in the distance. We found a few reasonably-priced treasures to gift to friends and family back home in the gift shop, and bathrooms were clean. If we're ever fortunate enough to return to Big Island, Low Store will definitely be on our list of musts! Mahalo!
A great place to stop for shave ice, smoothies and nachos. The salsa is excellent and the scenic drive is a great bonus!
Huge shave ice. I got passionfruit and loved it, wasn't overly sweet. Enjoyed sitting outside with the geckos for company!
Favorite store on island. Great food and neat souvenir room
ONO! Had their laulau and kalua pork. I ate 'em so fast I wen scare some German tourists. Truly a local kine store run by a local kine family.
