Great first corona terrace packed. Surprised by the very friendly service. Very cool and easy atmosphere. We still thought it is because of her. But no, her replacement was also very friendly. Also very pleasant when you come alone. Thanks people.

Beautiful movie house with fine programming. Also great food and drinks. In terms of staff, it changes a lot (unfortunately): some are very friendly and customer-oriented, others are really short and also make you wait a long time while they are busy with colleagues or themselves (too bad!). Hopefully this improves and my next visits are 5 stars.

The cinema is fairly dated, but makes a lot of good by being very cozy and authentic. The movie selection is fun. Not only Blockbusters, but also many independent films. The films are still announced by a person who also does a short chat with information about the film. What really makes the difference for me with many other cinemas is the possibility to have a nice drink before or / and after the film. There are several places in the building where you can simply enjoy a beer at a table. The 'courtyard' is very cozy, highly recommended. The terrace is also in a nice place. So you can easily combine your film with a snack and a drink here, making friends with the cinema a lot more enjoyable. A good beer list is certainly present, even a few beers on tap. Do not expect to be able to order a bowl of fresh popcorn or to create candy for the film, then you better visit one of the new cinemas.

Great tent for a movie experience.

Great tent for a movie experience.
Many places to have a drink before and after the movie with a large assortment of beers, wines and tasty (also many vegetarian) snacks.
The films are always introduced with a short introduction that is told very skillfully. The cinemas are small and cozy, very nice for a movie date!

Very moderate cinema. The row of chairs does not rise sufficiently and does not shift relative to each other (half-brick bond), so your entire film is facing you. Furthermore, poor climate control. Outside 17gr and within 30.

Een van de leukere bioscopen in Utrecht. Ruim assortiment aan drankjes die mee de zaal in mogen en een explicateur die wat interessante punten uit de film toelicht. Eten is er ook goed en niet duurder dan bij de omliggende restaurants.

Very nice and atmospheric cinema with full on occasions in the neighborhood to have a nice drink somewhere afterwards. Before the film starts you will get a real introduction from someone who will tell you something about the film, the recordings and some trivia.

About Louis Hartlooper Complex

Louis Hartlooper Complex: A Cultural Hub for Film and Hospitality in Utrecht

Located in the heart of Utrecht, Louis Hartlooper Complex is a cultural center that offers a unique blend of film and hospitality. From film festivals to exhibitions, terraces to dinners, this complex has something for everyone.

The History of Louis Hartlooper Complex

The complex is named after Louis Hartlooper, a Dutch filmmaker who was born in 1892. He was one of the pioneers of Dutch cinema and made several films during his career. In 1928, he opened his own cinema in Utrecht called 'City Bioscoop'. The cinema became very popular among the locals and continued to operate until it closed down in 1996.

In 2004, the building was renovated and transformed into what we know today as Louis Hartlooper Complex. The renovation project aimed to preserve the historical value of the building while adding modern facilities that catered to contemporary needs.
