Cool old school music store... reminded me of my youth in the 80s

Farewell to one of the most iconic music stores in the world!

So saddened to hear that the original Amoeba Hollywood location on Sunset will remain permanently closed due to the pandemic. Anyone who has visited knows what a special place this has been for many years over. Amoeba has been and will always be one of the most amazing retail collections of all things music-related from all over the world. Truly a gem for everyone who loves music, tactile discovery, and the continued tradition of fostering shared music culture which has made this place so great.

Look forward to visiting the all-new Amoeba location on Hollywood Blvd in the fall! Long live Amoeba

Whether it's your first time or your last, you will always leave satisfied. The service is knowledgeable and friendly, the atmosphere is engulfing and fun too. A great to shop for movies too!

I get good deals on DVD movies and tv DVD box sets thanks

Music, movies, shirts and other nick-nacks. Hasn't changed much but still a fun place to visit. They do have parking you have to make a left on cahuenga. There is also parking on Ivar.

The Biggest entertainment store that I have been to. Customers are shopping with baskets full of stuff as if it was a grocery store. They offer free parking.

Lovers of music, this is a place of law that you must visit. In general, a large part of Viniles come out cheaper here than in many other places. With a large selection, there are also trays with used Viniles and others with new arrivals that you find in bargain prices. In addition to a major selection of films. Highlights the horror movies area for finding classics from around the world. In music, I recommend checking the boxes and trays that are on the bottom because sometimes they are the same titles but as some have some packaging defect, they are discounted. Suggestion: better pay in cash than with a card because you avoid tax and carry a bag because if you ask for it, they will charge you.

Oh my God I love this place so much I did hear that it was going to be closing down which I'm going to be really sad when they do that but no matter what type of music you're looking for they also have all types of movies it's one of my favorite place to go and buy my movies from because they usually have almost everything and really good deals

If you resell your CDs you will get about 5 to $0.10 on your used CD. It is a unique place and I like it for its unconventional idea to buy used items

So much to look through in this place it s hard to find out where to start, then when you finally leave you realise you ve been in there so long it s dark outside and you have grown a beard..

I wanna say this is the best Amoeba but as a bargain vinyl hunter I've never ran into anything worth while. They get the hookups on the free concerts and signings compared to SF and Berkeley. The entire movie section is great with almost any format available.

Amoeba Music has an amazing selection of music and movies, and they are unusually meticulous in the condition of the CDs, LPs, and DVDs they offer. The staff are very knowledgeable as well, and great prices to boot. Well worth checking out.

Amoeba music is one of the coolest places in Hollywood. They have a ton of great music, movies, shirts, and collectibles to choose from and hours can pass while browsing through the isles.

Amoeba is the best! If you've never been, go. Music/movies/memorabilia for days. They're gonna be closing up and moving soon. Nothing like this location. Gonna be missed. So much rare vinyl.

When I asked them a question (by email) regarding a vinyl record I wanted to buy (Pink Floyd - The Wall) they replied promptly and I placed an order. However the record came with scratches (it was a new sealed record, but still had noticeable scratches that could be heard well on a few tracks). I contacted the store regarding this issue and they didn't reply, so I couldn't return it or get a replacement :(

I had no idea how much the vinyl craziness had spread. Amoeba music changed my life. Now I have 2 record players and a whole bunch or music (vinyl).

They sell tickets to select shows in LA with very low fees. They've saved my azz a couple times when tickets sold out online.

Amoeba Records is one of those places you have to visit anytime you find yourself in the Hollywood area.
It's the largest independent record store in Southern California.
You will find everything from cd's, records, books, collectibles. Everything is very organized so you won't have trouble finding the movie or artist you are looking for.
Be sure to browse the dvd section upstairs to find dvd's for as low as $4.99. You can literally spend hours browsing through their large selections of DVDs and CDs and you will find exactly what you are looking for. Amoeba also hosts occasional live music so check their website for upcoming events.
The staff is very friendly too.

Get lost looking at music, films and posters for days

As good as any record store in the. Action. An absolutely amazing selection and prices are still in line or often cheaper than eBay on tough records or cds.

First off they buy used marvel movies for 3 to 4 dollars a piece then they put 37 dollars on them to sell buy DVDs ebay Walmart bestbuy and goodwill they are a joke to charge that

It's a great experience. Physical music is a thing of the past, like TV's and DVD players.

To be completely honest I felt like I stepped back into a time when music buying was more emotional and definitely more conscious. This place embodies how music buying is supposed to make us feel. I recommend to anyone looking for an authentic music buying experience

Thanks to a friend who already knew Los Angeles, he showed me how to get to Amoeba, on Sunset Boulevard. I cannot explain the impression it has left me. I am a lover of music and movies, and in this place there is everything. New, used, incredibly strange editions and difficult to get, in all formats, vinyl, cassettes, CDs and movies are available on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, 3D, 4K ... and even laser disc! . Merchandising ranging from T-shirts to collectible dolls. I spent more than two hours touring the two floors of this incredible place. Undoubtedly a find that I want to visit again!
