It's ok. Went there for the yearly Weinerdog races. If you want to buy food you better bring cash if it's under $10. That's the minimum to use your credit card to purchase anything. $4.50 for a cold pretzel, yes, cold. You'd think that at least it was freshly made but no, cold one already made earlier. $2.50 for a little cup of boiling water and a hot chocolate envelope you mix it yourself. $4 for a little pop corn, also not even warm. Bring your own stuff. Place is meh, no wonder they're going to close it soon and build homes. I know I live right behind the NW part of the track. Too bad, but maybe just not the interest anymore by people. It is only $3 to come in so it's got that.

It was better than expected. The distancing was marginal and I never felt uncomfortable about standing in line while others were able to pass by going either direction. Nice size crowd, well serviced and a mature atmosphere. All good.

Watch the thoroughbreds run at Los Alamitos Race Track. Betting, bar and a restaurant. An old fashioned track with small crowds and plenty of parking. Low admission price gets you a full afternoon of entertainment.

Quaint little track that has a nostalgic feel. Unfortunately it's in need of an upgrade as well. The live racing aspect is pretty cool and has a loyal following. The locals seem to enjoy the intimate experience and interaction. The facility is so-so. I went out a couple exits from the 2nd floor of the grandstand and they were dirty, dark and frankly didn't feel safe as they let you out in weird places. There were sandbags and trash almost blocking the doors. The simulcast isn't horrible when it comes to most major tracks, but they book partial cards and races every day and that's very, very annoying. While you can pretty much count on a track like Gulfstream or Belmont to have every race offered for betting, you literally have no idea what's running overall and have to insert a voucher to see what races are available for a particular track. For example, they may only book races 3-5 at the Meadowlands out of the 12 offered. I've actually not encountered this anywhere across the country and was disappointed. On top of that they charge $5 admission in the clubhouse just for simulcasting but the machines are newer and work fine. Apparently the state of horse racing is a bit hazy in So Cal with the rumored sale of Los Al and Del Mar as well (according to a nice and well-informed lady at the info booth). They have some red tape and in-fighting that includes Indian Tribes, etc. Oh well, if you haven't been it's definitely worth a weekend stop.

I actually came to watch the Dachshund Derby and came away impressed with everything. A little bummed with $4 parking and then $4 general admission, but I'm sure if I came to bet on the races I would have ignored this.

Celebrated my sister's 50th birthday at the Vessels Club. With fine dining, full bar and great races. Had a race dedicated to her and got to go to the winning circle for pictures with the fam and the winning horse. The service was great and made sure we had a memorable event. I would highly recommend.

This place has big pools to bet in but the thoroughbred horses are just low class I see too many jockeys Holden their horses back just now watched Martin hold back Angry Bobby in 5th the replays pretty obvious that he didn't want to go by the third-place finisher. Stewart should be watching that and fine them for doing that so the betting public don't get taken advantage of I liked it a lot better when it was mainly quarter horses only. Very smokey!

Hit the incredibly rare superfecta wager on a gloomy Saturday in January ($181.49 for a $0.10 bet); lucky for me, but, sadly, lost it all the next week. The track is a little out of the way from Berkeley, but it's not too far. I like their dollar days, and usually take advantage of it during their racing season (whenever Bay Meadows isn't in session).

There are horse races every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is a membership-based racecourse. You can also buy tickets directly to watch horse racing and bet on horses. When you are lucky, you can make a small profit.
