My grandmother was sent here and they barely took care of her needs, while being rude about her condition. Then my mother was sent here after a broken ankle and was drugged beyond belief. She legitimately had pain, with an additional surgery that was done and could have been addressed had her care takers listened to her.

my elderly friend is in there and she's very much more happier there than she was before she got there she was a DMV see whatever facility they have there for rehab but she's happy where she's at and I'm glad she's there because she's happier and we hope to have her home soon
My mother Dot, aka "pickles" has been a resident at Lorien Mays Chapel for over three years. Before living there she lived with my sister or I for close to 20 years. What prompted the change in her "address" was her deteriorating physical and mental condition and the much needed additional help that was essential to make her life comfortable and worth-while. The opportunity came upon us for her to be a resident at Lorien and very shortly after that our "family" grew. We not only gained support from the staff, emotionally but medically through her GNA's, Nurse's, Nursing Supervisors, Nurse Practitioner, Doctors, and Therapists. We continue to count our "Blessings" with the care our mother receives. We all feel that if we have questions/ concerns, they are answered in a timely manner and at no time do we feel that our questions /concerns are ignored or considered unimportant. The Social Services Director is welcoming and always available as well as the Nursing Home Administrator.
I truly believe that there is "no place like home" but Lorien Mays Chapel makes a true commitment in making their home HER HOME.
We were lucky to find this place for our father who is a retired physician. While my father has been in this country for over 50 years, the Korean food, tv station, newspaper and other residents is a great comfort to him. The nursing and tech staff is communicative and atttentive. They work well as a team, which allows them to be very effective when caring for my dad. It is well-managed and organized. Visiting is easy and enjoyable. The facilities are clean and modern. Minor repairs are addressed quickly. It s a great comfort to know that he s being cared for.
Friendly and relax atmosphere. Clinical team, Therapy team, Admissions team and Administrator will go above and beyond to promote a positive outcome for all Resident care needs.
My grandfather visited multiple nursing homes after suffering a series of strokes following a brain surgery and this was by far the best. Our family felt all the therapists- physical, occupational and speech were top notch as well as the nursing and directing staff.
I take better care of and show more concern for my pets at home than most of the staff at lorien. Shes in worse shape tban before she came here. Hasn't been able to eat w/o throwing up for 3 days. And know one seems to give a damn until you go to admin. If she ever needs help again guaranteed it will not be to Lorien. The overall health care system in this country sucks.
My son investigated rehab centers and determined that Lorien Mays Chapel had the nursing care, therapies, safety, cleanliness, encouragement, and forward thinking to avoid any problems. I rate Lorien Mays Chapel five stars in providing the necessary high standards of nursing care that helped me gain strength and endurance. I likewise rate their nutrition five stars, too. The menu rivals the finest restaurant. ..Crab cakes, turkey and pork cutlets, pancakes with cured bacon, and my favorite bourbon chicken (yum). Amazingly they provide alternative meals if something is not to your liking.Safety and cleanliness are in high esteem and there are smiles from everyone. Have a question, they'll answer promptly. Yes, thank you to my son, he made the right choice for me and Lorien Mays Chapel can do it for you.
My Mom spent 5 hellish weeks here. She was never clean and had a UTI the entire time because they refused to check her for one, despite my pleading. Now I am getting one bill after another for a haircut they would not even schedule until it was paid for. I refuse to pay for it twice!! I have spoken to the hairdresser, who agrees I paid it and the clerk to whom I gave the money. I also had a nurse, Bonnie, who seemed to do nothing but stand outside of my room but if I dare ask her even a general question, she screamed, "I'm not your nurse!" Spare your loved ones this Cuckoo's nest.
I transferred my 72 year old wife to Lorien Mays Chapel from St. Joseph Hospital after a fall that injured her head and broke her wrist. She walked into Lorein Mays Chapel (with a cane), and 30 days later left in a wheel chair after physical therapy twice daily and never seeing a staff doctor. I was rebuffed from taking her out to see her dentist and primary care physician (to seek second opinion). Finally, the release paperwork advised 24/7 personal care. Not being able to provide this due to employment obligations, I had to commit my wife to respite care at additional expense. I am still struggling with this and hardly believe it was rehabilitation care.
Over all, the care was good and the therapy was excellent! Therapists were friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, ,etc. The only big glitch I noticed was in the call button system in patient rooms. You can not tell which bed is buzzing in a double room. There also needs to be an intercom or buzzer system so that patients can indicate urgency of need. As it is, no calls are treated as urgent. My roommate fell the first night of my stay, and I was unable to get out of bed to assist her while the aides took several minutes to respond. The food is very good for institutional cuisine. Facilities are cheerful, staff is warm.
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Everyone is welcoming as soon as you walk in the building. I would highly recommend this building to anyone in need of rehab or long term care.
Our Mom has been sick for quite a while. After the hospital stay, she is now transitioning at your Lutherville, MD location. This has been a wonderful transition. My Mom, did not want to go to rehab. From the moment the transit driver took her, to now, every employee at Lorien has been happy, positive, energetic. This has been an outstanding experience. Thank you for your compassion, and kindness.
Having vertigo is very disorienting but going to Lorien May s Chapel North In Timonium, MD was a blessing. I was transferred from BGMC to Lorien and the staff could not have been kinder. They made every effort to ensure that I got the care that I needed to make a satisfactory recovery from my dizziness. The PT & OT specialists were immediately on top of the therapeutic plan to help me deal with my vertigo and get me safely back perambulating on my own power. The staff in general from the very top to the people who diligently cleaned my room, were very attentive to all my needs. When you are having health problems it is easy to be grumpy but the staff were so kind and friendly in a very professional way that I couldn t have stayed grumpy long. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs rehab assistance.
Horrible place. Good luck getting an answer to a thing you ask. Can't get an update on my mothers care, let alone, when she can see her primary care doctor. Good luck ringing for a nurse, maybe within the hour. They lost my mothers denture, won't even acknowledge my complaint. I have never in my life experienced such utter disregard for a human being and I will not stop here P.S. don't let the beauty of this facility fool you as it did me.
We had a horrible experience with Lorien. My entire family walked through and was virtually assured my mother would be accepted given the information the admissions director was given, which was a totally honest assessment of her. When the report from the doctor was delivered to Lorien, she was rejected on two points that were disclosed on the tour. We are just devastated and have to start all over again. Just horrible experience. Hopes were crushed. One star is too much.
