The kids love going to the Lindenhurst Library to get new books to read.
The people are so nice they also have great organizations one side is for kid one is for adults and the other is for teens
They staff is very kind and have a great vibe to them too. And they are very helpful when needed.
I've been a patron of Lindenhurst Memorial Library for twenty years and continue to be impressed by the services and resources offered by this library. For a largely Republican-controlled village, the library seems to be well-funded compared to other larger communities--just take a look at Seaford's pitifully neglected library and you can see what I mean. The staff is usually very pleasant and the atmosphere perfect for quiet study.
Unfortunately, funding for DVDs appears to have increased rapidly, which might be great for patrons that are not bibliophiles, but adds very little to the educational value of the library experience. Do they really need five copies of Twilight? Second, during the school year the library is inundated with middle schooler that use the place as if it were a hangout. Granted, this is better than loitering in front of the 7-11, but these still are Long Island kids and thus incredibly obnoxious.
Overall, one of the best little libraries on the island.
I really enjoy going to the Library. Lindenhurst Library has some of the nicest staff. But, I wish they had more trips to different places and had a cafe like the other Libraries. I do appreciate the vending machines.
the page at the lindenhurst library named gabby is very nice and helpful she dresses very appropriately and is sometimes funny. she finds dvds so fast and always recommends good ones. she should get a raise although she's already paid too much. ps get a security guard and kick some of those punks out because i wanna read in quiet long live the lindenhurst library
The Lindenhurst library is pretty good. The advantages about this library is that the staff are very helpful and friendly if you need help finding something. But the disadvantages about this library is that it doesn't have every DVD I want so I either ask them to make an request from another library or i would usually go to West Babylon, West Islip, or Farmingdale libraries. The other disadvantage is that there is no study rooms for kids to study after school. Kids after school either go to the teen zone or the children's room and the teen zone gets very loud and crowded but I hope to see the library bond vote for the renovation to pass soon It failed back in November. One of the other disadvantages I see is kids running around crying or making noise or kids after school hanging out in children's area and continually to curse in front of little kids. Do yourself a favor if you want some place peaceful and quiet to study after school and every library material you want. Go to the West Babylon library. They have tons of quiet study rooms.
Worst service ever! Security card doesn t know anything, picks on kids and is a racist. Is rude and unkind. Very unprofessional service, very small collection and noise and dirty.
Always nice great place to go after school to do homework
Extremely helpful and pleasant staff, call ahead works great
Barely Passable library with subpar customer service at the Circulation desk and pompous snarky people at reference.
One Circulation clerk in particular has had it in for me and my family since we starting going there.
They virtually accused me and my family of stealing services by having two library cards at once. Then it turns out it was their error.
All I got was a begrudging sorry through gritted teeth.
When I spoke with the supervisor I basically got the same attitude the woman couldn't wait to get me off the phone.
Every time we go there's an issue.
Run by miserable workers who are in dire need of customer service training.
Try smiling once in a while it hurts less every time you do it.
The atmosphere is uncomfortable and you don't want to hang around.
Not a place to sit and read like you expect a library to be.
What a disaster. Lately teens are hanging out in the children s area and they are loud and continually curse in front of kids. They are sprawled our on the floor blocking the books and the useless staff does nothing. Do yourself a favor and go to the North Babylon one instead.
Awesome programs and great ebook titles to select from
The low rating is strictly because of the lack of action taken against the annoying children running around and making noise in the library all week long. You can't go there to study without hearing loud groups of kids playing games and running around upstairs, which rings throughout the whole library. Its ridiculous and the kids are encouraged to be disruptive by the "teen zone" (the only good spot in the entire library, now dedicated to loitering pre-teens) on the second floor and lack of action by security guards. Also they will have Cub Scout meetings and crafts on the upstairs floor, while there are conference rooms in the basement of the library totally empty.
What is so annoying is that the only good space in the whole library (downstairs is open space where some strange people hang out) has been painted and filled with graphic novels to look like a place for kids. So if you sit up there as an adult, you feel super weird, like you are invading the kids section. I see why the budget continues to fail, why spend seven figures on a spot that will just be over run with kids?
Overall this library has an awful riff-raff problem. Its a darn shame. Lindenhurst is truly a lovely, understated town and this spot brings down the whole neighborhood.
It s a nice quite place, has a great selection of books, and kind staff
For some reason facebook keeps showing me this library so I figure I review it. First of all I'm big on education and libraries I represent the patchogue medford library. I have gotten DVDs from this library I visit my library weekly books are important so is history.
Have a relative that works here I'm very passionate about education libraries and the services public libraries provides..in this the age of smart phones Androids And apple products I'm very pleased to see libraries are still in demand.
Pleasant time performing in the library.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful with everything!
It was a true pleasure to be in such beautiful facilities!
