Really nice for a free zoo, very little to complain about. I only wish the animals had some larger habitats. But they were in there winter areas when we went there, so maybe they have more room in the summer.

Beautiful place to take kids or just to go for fun. There are a variety of animals and exibits present where you could not only learn about these animals but interact and observe them in real time

One can loose track of time in this place, especially with children with one. My favorite attraction was the bird house, where there are no cages and one can actually see the birds not behind a cage. Overall it's a great place to visit and have a picnic. The adult only events at night are a great date night.

We love this Zoo! Awesome first zoo experience for a 1-2 year old. It's nice to see so many charitable donations contribute to so many children's lives. Dont miss the lights during the holidays, it's spectacular!

Parking was astronomical, but a mile or two walk is worth it. Maps everywhere, indoor enclosures, food, bathrooms, helpful staff, and FREE ADMISSION. If you're visiting Chicago, you NEED to stop here.

I'm going to give a harsh review because the standards I was sold on before visiting were not enforced yesterday afternoon during our visit. If you are at all compromised or concerned about your health, I would suggest waiting to visit.
My 2.5 year old wore his mask for the entire visit, while more than half of the adults and children over 3 did not. Shortly after we arrived a young couple in their twenties, with crumpled masks hanging from their pockets, came up close next to my son who was watching the polar bear swim. I asked them to mask up since they weren't observing a social distancing, they straight up mocked me and laughed, moving within inches of my kid.
Triggered.
After that we power walked the whole zoo in 40 minutes. We saw 3 giraffes, a polar bear, and a flock of flamingos.
The only employees I saw were taking donations or selling food.
My advice to LP Zoo, have a few employees walking around gently enforcing the rules you set in place. I'm not comfortable coming back as IL backslides and particularly as the health of your patrons and donors aren't second on your list- after the preservation and conservation in the animals obviously.

even tho i have moved away from chicago, i try to make the trip to Lincoln Park at least once a year with the family. Last i was there many exhibits were under construction, so i'm looking forward to the improvements! can't be beat for a free zoo, but be ready to pay for parking if you're driving there.

Awesome place for a day with the kids, a date, or just by yourself. No charge as it is a Chicago park. However, parking is only free for the first 30 mins. Anything over 30 mins. STARTS at $20! Quick food & snacks are available but a little more "pricey" than I would like. So pack lunch & SAVE!

We went for zoo lights for 2020. The admission to the zoo is free. My kid enjoyed the train ride, carousel, cookie decoration, lights etc. Overall, it was a great family fun. For free parking, we parked on street on Stockton near the west side of the Lincoln Park zoo....

I went to this zoo and it still hurts me so much to see such animals like Gorillas who are almost human-like caged in plexy glass in such a small space- with no companions! He looked so sad in his cage and the thought still brings me to tears. I know ppl get a thrill at looking at animals but we need to make sure they are well taken care and treated with the respect they deserve. What if you were caged up for the rest of your life while kids pounded on the glass? The tiger the same thing. Small spaces with no life to live. Just absolutely disgusting in my opinion.
Please be considerate to gorillas and other animals in ANY zoo setting; give them the space and the life they deserve.

I've been to both the San Diego Zoo and the national zoo in DC. While there are no pandas or free roaming animals, the zoo is charming and has tons to see. It's free and a great way to spend the day!

Park management is doing really well to manage crowd during COVID crisis by allowing limited amount of people on hourly basis. We were looking forward to see big cats but unfortunately 1/4 of the park is under construction. But overall it is really good especially for childrens.
