Not a good place or good people to do business. Gregory, the owner, is arrogant, brash and rude and this attitude permeates the store among the personnel. Additionally, no one seems educated on the products or interested in helping you. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away.

The only positive thing Lighting by Gregory has going for them is their selection of lights. However, that is really where it ends. Once you pay it goes downhill. Do not expect to get contacted when things are back ordered (before you pay everything is available within a week or so). Also, if they give you a "confirmed back order date" that does not mean a thing. Mine got pushed back several times without giving a reason. Even if things happen you expect the staff to reach out to you, but you always have to chase them since they are always too busy and they act like they are doing you a favor. My recommendation would be this is a great place to check out different types of lights, write down the type/brand and then buy them somewhere else.

I placed an order 6 weeks ago and have yet to receive my lamps, although I was told delivery would take only 2 weeks. Not only haven't I received my order, no one has return the several messages I've left for them. I even spoke to Danielle at the NY store just before Labor Day, who told me they'd be shipping right after the holiday and that she'd have a tracking number for me. But no, there's been no word from them and for the last 2 days, I haven't even been able to reach them by phone. I'm really disappointed as I loved the lamps I chose. I'm going to have to call my credit card company and cancel the payment for these lamps and go elsewhere for them.

We purchased couple of light fixtures on June 6 2016, it has been over month. Customer service does not have an idea when the lights are going to arrive. Also, Customer service does not answer the phone and when they do, they transfer the call like five times and then they tell you "they do not have no idea". Please be advise, Lighting BY Gregory is wrong place to do business.

The store service is good, but their phone service is nonexistent--five calls, never call back, never pick up.

Very helpful and friendly. Went in with a broken wall sconce. David was able to identify the make and model from sight (no markings on it) and found replacement order within 5 minutes.

I am an architect, and use Gregory for most of my lighting needs. Best selection of contemporary lighting in the city, my go to store for lighting, knowledgeable staff, and despite some of the negative reviews here, service has been fine, and problems resolved.

They are probably going to go out of business soon. I put in an order for lights, paid in full and they never delivered them nor communicated anything with me. Finally, my contractor was able to get an email response that said they were "unable to fulfill" my order. I got the lights from someone else and the word on the street is that they have cash flow problems and will probably be going under soon.

poor order processing, poor customer service. Despite showing items "in stock," it appears items are not in stock. Orders are processed and then uncharged, no information is provided and customer service is unreachable and the when one chooses "on line orders" for assistance, one is transferred to another number. Not worth doing business with.

Once you place your order and pay there is no customer service. If you want to get any information about your order you can't. Once you place your order they charge your credit card immediately and then you have to wait to get your order. I received half my order and I could not get any information about the rest of my order.

Good range of lights but service can be really slow.

We placed a $31,000 order in the middle of September and never received any of the lighting that we ordered. They took 100% upfront, probably knowing that they were going to file for bankruptcy in the middle of October with no intention of placing our order. They never responded to requests for an ETA on delivery. Then in the middle of October, we found out that the CEO William Skarren closed the business and filed for bankruptcy. What they, and specifically William Skarren, did was unethical and most likely fraudulent. They have not refunded us our money.

"Sales" person I spoke with was rude, arrogant, condescending, and unhelpful. How these folks ever do any sale is beyond me. Sure, nice selection of lights... but it's not that there aren't any options around in the area...

Decent place with decent prices. Wonderful selection with a Helpful staff. Not a single complaint. If you can't fine what you want there, walk down the street.

I strongly recommend to not do business here. The sales person is rude, arrogant and condescending. There are multiple lighting businesses in the area who are more helpful, respectable and offer better value/selection. Interact with the sales representative and in under 5 minutes you will realize the validity of my statement.

Lighting by Gregory has the best selection of lighting fixtures in NY and teh best dispaly of them. When we're on the Bowery going into all the lgihting stores, we always like their store best.

Best lighting store in the city! The designer I worked with was great, I would definitely recommend them.

products are just okay, but some reasonably priced; sales team excellent, management poor and rude

I purchased two high-end Estaluz lamps in October 2009. They are beautiful, sleek and perfect for my apartment. I had a problem, however, with the dimmers on both of them. When the manufacturer wouldn't do anything about it, Sam (my sales rep) took care of them for me at no charge. I greatly appreciate this courtesy and the professionalism he has always exemplified. It is not often one needs lighting, but next time I do there will be no choice but to return to Lighting by Gregory. Thank you, Sam!

Everything I have bought from them has been terrific. No problems years later. Going back today for more and surprised by the other negative reviews.

What a great place to shop with a huge selection to choose from. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
