We got the greatest rescue from Lhasa Happy Homes....

We got the greatest rescue from Lhasa Happy Homes. 3 years ago we adopted a 4 year old Shih Tzu ( Bogey) now named Quaker. He was shy, timid. and now he is the most confident little guy ever. Randee really works hard to match the dogs with the right homes. Thank you Randee for our little guy Quaker.

I m working for a survey for Shelters and Rescues and practically anywhere that homes dogs and animals to educate the public. I called this number and was greeted, and i explained i m looking to adopt a dog, starting the process today. the woman that answered my call replied with an attitude, Well, we are NOT a shelter, and that s not how it works. i politely thanked her for the help and hung up. So rude and didn t even ask questions to help or help her understand. Los Angeles, of all the places in the US has had the most inconvenient and rude people in the Animal Rescue community. The South has had the best. Thank you :)

The people that run the organization I m sure mean well, but they re rude. Deciding to adopt a dog verses buying a puppy from a breeder is a helpful and responsible choice, but interacting with these folks might leave you feeling inadequate and make you want to quit trying. PLEASE don t let a negative experience with this organization dissuade you from providing and loving home to a dog that needs it.

To Lhasa Happy Homes: If you care about providing great homes to dogs then you might consider being supportive and kind to people who are attempting to help. If many people around you say the same thing then maybe the problem is you.

To people who would like to adopt a pet from this place: they will be VERY selective based on your responses to the questions in the application. They will be borderline unreasonable. If you re interested in adopting a dog from them you should say in the application that you will spend any amount of money necessary (we said we were prepared to pay for pet insurance AND pay up to $1000 for unexpected medical issues and that was insufficient). You should respond that you will not give up even if you are never able to house train the dog. You should basically not say that anything would ever make a dog not a good fit for your home. Good luck, and don t forget, there are many other adoption agencies out there.

we were blessed to adopt a bonded pair from lhasa happy homes and are absolutely in love with our shih tzu and lhasa. i didn't find the process difficult at all, and thought the process was completely smooth and professional. i assume the standards are high because randee wants to guarantee that all her pups are adopted into households that are ideal for the individual needs of her dogs. i'm happy to say that we were one of the lucky ones and have been blessed with an amazing pair that we will love forever. thank you lhasa happy homes for bringing joy and sweetness into our lives!

After weeks of application processing, they decided not to adopt the dog out at all. I don t mind how long the process takes, but unfortunately my husband and I had already withdrawn applications for two other rescues. I don t believe they should post rescues they intend to keep for themselves. This bait and switch caused us heartbreak and missed opportunities to provide a good home for another dog. By the way, they haven t even bothered to remove the posting of the dog we wanted.

These people are not professional at all. We tried to get three different dogs from these people. We even met one of them with a dog and we had our hearts set on it. We gave up holds on two other dogs to get this one. Filled out paperwork which is a lot of work by the way. We only had one final step, and they decided they didn't want to adopt out the dog anymore. So we ended up losing out on all three dogs after a month. My family is very upset and would recommend that nobody ever use these people. The process is very long and the fee is very high.

I volunteered with this organization briefly, and LOVED them. I wasn't ready to adopt at the time (I just wanted to cuddle and find dogs homes), but I know that the owner can be strict with their foster/adoption process, but most respectable organizations do.

Our adoption application was denied for bogus reasons that do not even relate to our application. Review is arbitrary and combined with prejudice and not in the the best interest of the animal. So sad!!

Response to owner: I told the truth. You can make up stories all you want. That does not change the facts. Wish you good luck.

About Lhasa Happy Homes

Lhasa Happy Homes: A Haven for Small Dogs

Lhasa Happy Homes is a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates small dogs, including Lhasa Apso, Shih Tzu, Maltese, and other breeds. The organization was founded in 2001 by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the lives of these precious animals.

The mission of Lhasa Happy Homes is to provide a safe haven for small dogs that have been abandoned or surrendered by their owners. The organization works tirelessly to find loving homes for these dogs and ensure they receive the care they need to thrive.

One of the unique aspects of Lhasa Happy Homes is its focus on small dogs. Many animal shelters prioritize larger breeds, leaving smaller dogs at risk of being overlooked or euthanized. However, Lhasa Happy Homes recognizes the value and importance of these pint-sized pups and works diligently to give them the attention they deserve.

The team at Lhasa Happy Homes consists entirely of volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare. These individuals dedicate countless hours each week to caring for the dogs in their care, from providing medical treatment to socializing with them and preparing them for adoption.

In addition to rescuing and rehabilitating small dogs, Lhasa Happy Homes also provides education on responsible pet ownership. This includes information on proper nutrition, exercise needs, training techniques, and more. By educating pet owners on how best to care for their furry friends, Lhasa Happy Homes hopes to reduce the number of animals that end up in shelters or rescue organizations.
