I was seen in the ER today in pain from a kidney stone and UTI (with severe pain and blood in the urine)! We usually go to RMH, but with flu season in full swing and the ER wait time being so long, we figured we could get in faster at LG! My husband and I were both very disappointed in our experience. While there, an adult male pulled his IV out and waked out of the hospital and re-entered thru the ER doors! He seemed disoriented! When they took him back to his room, not one person had noticed he was gone and what he had done!
Not one person asked me if I was on any medications, didn't ask about my medical history... they started an IV in my arm (but it was never used! No fluids, nothing for pain! They only drew blood from it!). We were there over 5 hours and was not even offered water or anything for pain! I have never had such little contact from nurses in an ER and NEVER not been asked about my medical history or what medicines I take!
A majority of the people in the waiting room was there for something mild (a cold, sinus infection, rash, etc). There were only a few people there for emergencies or extremely sick or in pain! I'm so shocked how many people came to the ER, when they could have gone to velocity care! They took away valuable time for those in true need of ER treatment! When I asked a worker about this, they shook their head and said, " they come here so they don't have to pay"! I'm so disappointed that people have come to this! It is so unfair people use the ER like this, taking away precious time and care, needed for true emergencies!
